from an article on xrp-
But not all the transactions that banks make on the Ripple platform have to use the XRP tokens, as was pointed out by The New York Times. Instead, banks could use dollars, euros, or another local currency on the Ripple platform, circumventing the alt-coin.

This cuts into what some buyers of XRP hope: that it can become a “bridge currency” used by financial institutions to make payments across borders.

In other words, as investors come to realize that Ripple the company does not need XRP the token to soar in price to be successful, investors may further cool to XRP.

XRP definitely isn't a scam. Anything American Express would be interesting in working with is legit.

Ripple is a very interesting coin, behind which is the technology of almost instant and very cheap transactions. This is a big plus in comparison with most other cryptocurrencies. Another interesting point is that the Ripple can have an inverse correlation to the bitocoin rate: that is, when bitcoin falls, the ripple grows, and vice versa. At the moment the bitcoin rate sets the trend for all altcoins. Ripple (XRP) has completed the formation of Elliott waves and is preparing for a new growth. Capitalization of Ripple says that many people believe in this coin and at least a few people have become multi millionaires.

That's almost the same as Ethereum, to be honest, with the exception that even if you circumvent using Eth to transfer tokens, you still need to pay miners gas (or spend ether) to spend all those ERC20 tokens. Yes, it creates a small micro economy where Ether is being used, but as all of this goes to miners, you might argue that the same net effect can be observed. But hey, it still increases Eth's value. They have to develop and improve the platform. And if XRP does the same, the token itself will experience the same slower rise.

I think Ripple XRP offer nothing to the new economic system. It is a more improved versin of current banking system which is centralised, and it does not offer anything except fast transactions.
However all other cryptocurrencies and ICO projects offer innovative technologies which can totally help us using decentralised peer to peer payment system, smart contracts, smart identities, etc. It is wise to use Ripple onlu for real short term trading, you should look for other cryptocurrencies and support them

wouldn't be surprised if XRP has another pump in it, but of all coins in the top 10 this is the #1 coin that can be worth ZERO in 5-10 years. Once its game plan is destroyed by whatever else banking decides to use why the hell would anyone own a single xrp.

Ripple is on par with the DeBeers, both sell hyper-inflated products (diamonds , xrp) with  little real world value.
Yes, i hear scamy xrp supporters scream, but Banks..... well, some have a working agreement with Ripple and has absolutely nothing to do with XRP. No Bank could work with something where the price is all over the place, that is not how Banking works.
The whole operation works as long as some horny chap can be found with money to throw away.

"The existing Visa credit card network processes about 15 million Internet purchases per day worldwide. Bitcoin can already scale much larger than that with existing hardware for a fraction of the cost. It never really hits a scale ceiling."  Satoshi Nakamoto, April 2009          Avoiding taxes is totally legal if you consider and respect the law.

Ripple is the same speculative coins like all of them, so if today the price gone down it is not the reason to call this coin as fraud, I am actually one of Ripple investors and I think I will earn something with this coin.
