Right now I would say it's really much better in terms of profitability I prefer buying Bitcoin because of the potential high profit and I only buy gold as gift but anyway both are good investment but bitcoin now is a much hold asset.

Shininess is our all! Gold is shiny, therefore it wins. Btw, while BTC is much more convenient to use, with gold you mustn't be afraid that it becomes worthy of nothing really quick. And the changes in the gold's value are not that huge.

Bitcoin is better because it is a currency and not only a store of value like gold. Yes it has more volatility but that is because the marketcap is still low.

As an investment bitcoin also wins because it has so much potential whereas gold is around its limit already.

The volatility of the gold is not as high a bitcoin's but also far more explosive that regular fiat. Fiats are being monitored and regulated on the fly by central banks.
Gold because it is a commodity cannot be influenced as hard.

In 2013 gold was worth almost ~$1800 and its value gradually dropped to ~$1100 in 2016. I wouldn't exactly say that the price of gold is not volatile.

I will select both, but in fact it depend on your interest that for what purpose you are going to select bitcoin or gold. if you want to select bitcoin then it is good for trading and increasing the amount of your money while gold is best for saving your money because there are more chances that its value will not decrease. but there are always chances that some one can steal your gold.

Personally, I think BTC is better. After all, BTC can be paid quickly and globally, and at the same time, it's safe and convenient.

And on top of that bitcoin supply is limited and demand is growing because it is more convenient to buy. As well as it is easier to hold bitcoin for long term and if we compare return over holding bitcoin and gold for last 5 years, profit from holding bitcoin is way higher than that from gold.

Yes , totally true because the most of the times people saying that Bitcoin is scam and it is not legal and it has bad impact at the world economy but still with every stupid blain words the Bitcoin is at number one and no one is able to beat it .
Even in the starting when I bought few fraction of the Bitcoin then many of my friends told me that this is useless and you will loss all of your money  . But still I never lost my patience and turned my money into 3 times after one month experiment with it .
So this is really pretty cool then good , since we can get some loss for small time due to fall in the price but the chances of increasing the price are more and they can easily rise ( which is usual ) .
Here I will suggest every friends who are saving his money in his savings account , they should invest in the Bitcoin because in the Bitcoin we have the option of increase our money speedly without any  limit .

I remember a financial analyst on the TV this year saying "if you are old hedge with gold, if you are young hedge with bitcoin" or something to that effect.  It seemd to me possible that the presenter was stating conciously or unconciously a growing consensus among the population, that young generations will gravitate towards crypto, and so putting 2+2 together this would be a inevitable demographic shift  that would result in crypto currencies perhaps mostly replacing the role currently played by gold for older generations; thus I am becoming increasingly convinced on the goldbugs->oldbugs->dead scenario and that cryptocurrencies ultimate worth is in the trillions in the long run (adjusted for inflation).

The problem with Bitcoin is that it is a digital asset. Such assets have limited lifespan, as new and better alternatives emerge with time. Look at what happened to the televisions. In the beginning, we were using CRT televisions. They were replaced with LCD and Plasma televisions. These were in turn replaced with LED televisions.
