Average generation time for a block (solo): 4 years, 338 days = 1798 days

1798 / 30 = 59.93

Right ?

Every day independent trial.  Each block independent trial.  Mining for 30 days just 30 iterations of one block in 1798 days or 1 chance to find block in every 431,520 next blocks over and over again. Not additive.  No more chance to find block after 1 year of mining as when starting - being actually much less because of weekly difficulty increases.  

Not as likely as you might be thinking - could easily mine for 25 years and not be finding block. Finding block solo at that rate about 3.5 sigma event.   Difference between 3.5 and 4 sigma events is being very small difference in probability-wise but large time-wise  - from once every six years to possibly twice in a lifetime and not difficult to stretch out to sigma 4.5 making once every 4 centuries.   Can only say results not being average after 1.4 million years of testing - should find block within 6 sigma - if not, average calculation probably wrong.

In meantime straight PPS should paying in your pocket about 18 BTC over same period you mentioning.

I don't know about total, but he has used uk Royal Mail postal calculator to correctly calculate postage as far as I am concerned!

I would recommend those who have started mining not to order this expensive toy.

This expensive toy is still cheaper than FPGA mining.

But still more expensive than just keeping/buying bitcoins.

I meant this is ideal for those who want to invest in hardware as a liquid asset instead of buying bitcoins.

I agree the fact that 330MH/s is not a lot of hashing power in hindsight and at the increased difficulty and its continuous rise (two times in a month), you might look at earnings of 0.008 for next month, 0.006..., earning per day and it won't be profitable. It has arrived late in the mining scenario but may give entry level miners a glimpse of what mining bitcoins is about thus making it more accessible to people with lower incomes thus having a far greater distributed hashing power, than relying on denser ASIC miners (e.g AVALON 60GH/s miner or the fabled "box with fans" that was downgraded from 1,500GH/s to 500GH/s).

Nevertheless, to be profitable, it should be at a much lower price if people want to profit in the long term.

Yes, it is better to be in a pool.

Always is better to be in a pool. Unless you have real mining power like 1% total hashrate minimum and you want to gamble.

Mining solo should be quite easy even though I never tried it as I don't have enough hashing power.
What you should do is:
- add 2 lines with "rpcuser=myuser" and "rpcpassword=mypassword" entries to bitcoin.conf
- keep bitcoind always running as normal
- run your mining software (like cgminer or bfgminer) and specify the username and password same as the ones in bitcoin.conf, and the ip address of the computer running bitcoind as the host (127.0.0.1 if it's the same). The port should be 8332.

example:
cgminer -u username -p mypassword -o http://127.0.0.1:8332

That should be it. However do some research and ask somebody with experience to be sure I didn't miss anything.
According to my calculations with current difficulty you have 1 chance in 60 to mine a 25 btc block in the first month.
Having more than 1 stick will multiply your chances.
