Transactions can optionally carry transaction fees. Whoever mines the block which ends up containing your transaction will get the fee. The Bitcoin client will sometimes force you to pay a fee when it thinks that no miner will accept your transaction otherwise.

This thread is too long. Better, I think, to break out each article.

That would defeat the purpose of this thread....

Speaking as the thread creator, the purpose of this thread is to create a log of bitcoin press links.

It is not intended for any discussion of links whatsoever.

If you feel a link will generate discussion, feel free to create a new forum thread, and include that link in your post here.

Cash is Dying, Long Live Dollars -

Quote
I love that Dollars lets me make anonymous transactions. I'm not at all sold on virtual currencies that promise to do the same. BitCoin, for example, is a joke. I tend to buy into Adam Cohen's description of it on Quora...

Who da fuK is adam cohen and why is anything he is saying important? To me he is dumb as rock and lives in a box. Gizmodo is nothing but skewed journalism at best apparently. Nothing more than two retards who found each other to clap their hands that are too curved inwards to clap alone.

Theres probably not much point in grumbling about the stupidity of your average journo scribbler making comments like "The Value of a Bitcoin fell to 1$ (01c in some cases) recently" when it was a momentary phenomenon on just one exchange because of the Mt.Gox hack.

But honestly, dont they realise that its like saying "The value of the US dollar fell to 0 recently" because there was a news report of a bank robbery at one branch where someone made off with $100k for nothing ?

I wonder if its Malice, Stupidity or just "Dont care, it sounds like a better story with BS like that in it".

<sigh> Mainstream Media, bringing you the most entertaining *story's*, damn the facts, they dont rate as well

There is a mention of bitcoins at the end.

Seems like there is a small business opportunity to set-up a site that accepts fiat currencies (Visa or otherwise) and forwards bitcoins to wikileaks ....
