According to this.. we're all just being manipulated by islamic radicals.. tl;dr taliban herp derp bitcoin - new world order of terror herp derp. And being episode 1, absolutely not notable, but thanks for wasting my time on the "Bitcoin press hits, notable sources" thread. *yawn*

And being episode 1, absolutely not notable, but thanks for wasting my time on the "Bitcoin press hits, notable sources" thread. *yawn* It's notable enough as a FUD datapoint for bitcoin being associated with terror funding (on scant evidence) - even if it'd come from someone less more obscure than Pat Dollard. As for not reporting multiparters on the 1st part - don't blame me for wasting your time - blame the source. If episode 2 surprises, and needs any more summary than "herp derp" - feel free to report back.

Despite the sensationalist title, the guest speaker seems to understand bitcoin fairly well. However, there's no actual evidence of Islamic terrorists using bitcoin in this story or any other. The story claims that lulzsec tweeted that they donated to the Taliban, a claim I cannot find any support for anywhere else.

I haven't seen this one posted here yet: http://flipthemedia.com/index.php/2011/08/bitcoin-and-the-future-of-digital-currency/comment-page-1/#comment-7124A reply has been posted to a topic you are watching by Bitcoin Swami.
Can you please stop spamming every dam article jeez. Every article is an opportunity for new users to find out about bitcoin. I want to make sure they have the best experience possible. That best experience can currently be found at TradeHill, IMHO. I make almost nothing from Tradehill referrals, so any such comments are out of the goodness of my heart, combined with the evilness of my heart (since I have some troll blood in me, and enjoy annoying people).

Not a bad article overall.. but has some slight misunderstandings about the nature of the 21 million coin limit, and doesn't acknowledge bitcoin's divisibility.. hence the poor comparison to trading cards.

Bitcoin mining with Trojan.Badminer http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/bitcoin-mining-trojanbadminer"Now we are seeing another new Trojan on the bitcoin mining trail, which we are calling Trojan.Badminer. Instead of packing a pick axe and shovel like previous bitcoin mining Trojans, this makes use of heavy machinery to do its job. That way the flow of bitcoins can be mined much faster than before." Symantec go into a bit of detail about bitcoin mining here - making the case that we may be on the verge of seeing botnets carrying out bitcoin mining "on an industrial scale" It hits slashdot - despite the apparent general distaste for bitcoin stories there. A piece in the register based on the symantec article: picked up by daily tech but with a scarier(?) title ('Bitcoin Trojan' is a word association I hope doesn't stick)

Presumably this is the same Timothy B Lee who just recently wrote in his piece "The Bitcoin Crash" - that "I suspect it’s terminal." This time he's a little more balanced perhaps... Does this new breed of malware represent a new threat to the credibility of Bitcoin? Actually, the answer is probably no.
The Bitcoin/malware nexus is a troubling development for the broader society.
The lure of stolen Bitcoins depends on how much Bitcoins are worth, and the value of a Bitcoin has taken a wild ride in recent months. It peaked at $32 in June, then fell below $7 earlier this month before rising to the current price of around $11.
