i do this question because i´ve read in this website issues with bitcoin, slow mining process, high fees, etc. and i´ve read too good reviews of some altcoins, ethereum (smart contracts), ripple (for transfers between banks), dash and nem. these altcoins called 2.0. could bitcoin become just in future virtual gold reserved to companies and rich people?

anything can happen, but I do not think bitcoin can be replaced by other crypto currencies because bitcoin is a crypto king and bitcoin is still a favorite coin.

there is currently no one to replace bitcoin, but surely there will be coin can beat the dominance of bitcoin in terms of distribution, currently bitcoin is not replaceable because many markets or users who have common use of this coin. if there are other coins that have the trust and market equivalent to bitcoin, it is certain that bitcoin no longer dominates, exchange rates do not become the benchmark for determining power.

Everything is possible, but it's very unlikely: even if bitcoins has very well know structural problem, it will be very difficult for another currency to replace it.
But of course, if a big entity as facebook or Google will enter in the cryptomarket with its own coin... well, in this case, not only bitcoin, but the dollar itself will be replaced!

We couldn't really predict if there would be another crypto to take over bitcoin,
There are so many crypto currencies that are blooming or there are new crypto currencies almost every week.
So we couldn't really know if one of them are going to replace bitcoin soon.

It I the most favorite coin of the world people love to buy bitcoin and to hold it so till now there is no coin better than bitcoin, it will take much time to make some new kind of crypto currency and then to promote it in the market and find the investors for it, bitcoin has achieve the goal it is the most famous and liked currency, people trust bitcoin they invest in bitcoin without any doubt of lose so it is hard for sure to replace it at the present condition of bitcoin.

We all knew the bitcoin structural problem.
But if we are talking about general acceptance, the majority of population starts just now to talk about bitcoin, and it has no idea about altcoins.
So, it will be difficult to change this kind of perception.

Ethereum might be a good coin, but i do not think that it will really replace bitcoin, just take a look at the charts and you will see that ethereum goes down faster than bitcoin.

Bitcoin is more useful.

Bitcoin has more popular than other cryptocurrencies, but it does not mean someday, altcoin can not replace Bitcoin. Are you only an investor or a real user of Bitcoin? For me, I do not like to using Bitcoin recently. Because the total time to get confirmation for my transaction and the value of Bitcoin are useless to use for payment. Therefore, at least altcoin can be better than Bitcoin for small payment through internet.

Bitcoin is popular but not safe enough. I think in the future there will be another coin that will replace bitcoin. A coin that is safer than bitcoin.

The probability that bitcoin will leave the market is minimal, but to replace bitcoin from the first place, it may well, but only if the coins exceed the market capitalization of bitcoins.

It is difficult to actually replace the role of bitcoin. because bitcoin is too strong to be equaled by new ico or coin. community and popularity are very high makes it difficult to be a counter
