I think bitcoin can not be the number one survive in the world of cryptography, but we do not know when it will happen. From the outset, bitcoin seems to offer novelty such as anonymous and decentralized properties, but bitcoin should be able to deliver more dynamic service features that keep pace with current technological developments.

There are better projects, better system and ideas. But bitcoin was the the first crypto, so he has advantage. Same situation with etherium and neo. Neo is better but etherium was first! But I agree that is not for long time!

Currently it may be true that bitcoin is not number one because of the number of developers who can make their own coins and dominate bitcoin in the market and that's the threat why bitcoin may not be number one for good.

I don't think so the bitcoin is still the number one because all crypto coin is not really going to be converted in to fiat without bitcoin, so then the bitcoin is the most important and the most powerful of all coin because every coin really needs bitcoin in order to b e converted upon regular fiat that can be used as a regular payment. So then without a bitcoin all coins made by the developer has no use at all.

Many people are sceptical about the future of bitcoin. Very few altcoins have potential to go very big. Perhaps a new major disruptive idea will come up and will be a major change. Supply will play a huge role in the price / market cap.

I think that Bitcoin will still reign as the number one cryptoccurrency in the market for a long period of time. So there is no more far to beat bitcoin if this performance continues as now. I still do hope that bitcoins keep to its name of being the king of all cryptocurrency, but as we progress to 2018, it keeps fluctuating hard.

For me bitcoin can reach the point where it will decrease the demand and image problems faced by different digital products in the stock market. It will definitely face different obstacles along the way to achieve its success but the most important is how we as users to deal with this phenomenon wisely.

I thought for sure it would take until the end of 2018 but it looks like this summer ethereum might pass it up. With the turmoil around BTC potential splitting, it might be very soon. IMO this is healthy, we will always value bitcoin for being the one that started it all, but it's time for a more dynamic and adaptable currency to take the lead.

To predict the bitcoin to be the number one or not it is only the circumstances know and we only expect the best bitcoin remain the number one, maybe as I expect for the future.

I also think the same as you, but currently bitcoin is still very strong lead market price of cryptocurency. So most likely bitcoin will still last long enough as a crypto leader.

It's the dream of every single altcoin to surpass bitcoin. No way ethereum will ever pass bitcoin to become the number one. Not ethereum, nor any other altcoin.

After the two biggest market cap cyrpto currencies Bitcoin and Ethereum, there are more than 1,200 coins and tokens trading in the market. Deciding which one would be the most profitable in the short or long term can be extremely hard. If you invest by picking from the market cap list of first 5 alt coins the return will be much higher than bitcoin, I have been doing this for a long time.

I don't believe any altcoin will be able to outrun bitcoin in 2018. Maybe Ripple, but even that is unlikely.
The other day SegWit is launched, which should give impetus to the bitcoin growth.

I think that bitcoin is just one of the crypto currency, it can not always be number one. Over time, the leading position will move from one to another
