Bitcoin may be replaced by an altcoin is unthinkable and impossible, tell me how much does support does ethereum has compared to bitcoin with it's current market cap $45,201,034,552 while ethereum is still ligth years away from btc. In terms in dominance i could say that bitcoin has many users, traders, investors and also it is widely use as a paymeth method in both local and online businesses, other goods and services can be paid in bitcoin, another thing is that bitcoin can actually be converted into real money while ethereum has none of it.

I agree with you.
Right now, bitcoin have no real alternative.
We are first, have strongest foundation, many merchants on our side...
Still, we have to be aware that things are changing very fast in Internet.
If Bitcoin will not change fast enough, some other crypto currencies may replace it, in the long term.
Many users are already very unhappy with high fees and confirmation waiting time.

If things go bad with all the discussions about the way to scale bitcoin then I think Litecoin is there to take the place of bitcoin if needed be, it is not something that I want but that is why it is important there are as many cryptos as it is possible that way we are protected in case something happens to bitcoin.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I don't think so, The overly HYIP'd community of ETH merely think so but I don't see any proof for movement from media, business taking bitcoin or even a majority of bitcoin users, Even those using ETH also use bitcoin.
The recent crash in ETH shows how fragile the system is technically IMO, I don't see them replacing bitcoin, much less for any other altcoin.

Long enough to tell if you want to know the bitcoin problem, when bitcoin has problem only from spam transaction when it's a lot of filing to complain but quiet for now bitcoin already does not have spam transaction so so far bitcoin no longer has problem and only The price that can determine your problem  Wink

Expensive I get, the latest fee market has been abysmal. But the last 2 years of Bitcoin hasn't seen more volatility than Ethereum, or any other alt coin for that matter.

This is a guess, but maybe the user fanita meant that even if bitcoin is eventually surpassed by other coin, bitcoin will still be the first cryptocurrency that ever existed and as such it will still number one, even if it is not longer the top crypto in market cap and in number of users, but this is just a guess.

I do not know if etherium will overtake Bitcoin or not. But by 2018 I think btc is still the strongest coin. Btc is still a major coin in the altcoin system and is well known, just as btc in the future retains its inherent characteristics and is finer in terms of fees. I believe it still leads in the top strongest coins.

Looking at the worldwide popularity and acceptance the reality is that bitcoin is still number one. It's bitcoin which has the largest number of people supporting it and thus making a bitcoin community the biggest one among the communities of all the other cryptocurrencies. So bitcoin is still number one and it will continue to be number one.

Competition is good for business but ethereum is far from dethroning bitcoin because the future does not guarantee its gain in value and eth network has not been fully tested and loaded to see how well it will hold up. If only btc transactions with low low fees could not be broadcast on the network am sure this scalability problem would not have happened.
I agree because in business competition is not forever be able to last a long time. many competitors that are aligned with one of etherium eg bitcoin. But if bitcoin can maintain quality or can guarantee its accuracy may bitcoin can survive. in this case we should be able to sort out which ones can be beneficial for its users then that is what will last a long time.

We will see in the next few events like segwit, what's going to happen with bitcoin. Altho I think that ETH or any other crypto might not replace bitcoin now, that might be determined in the next few months.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

Of course indeed bitcoin will not be number one bacause other coins exist that exceed the bitcoin price
There could be thousands of coins out there in the virtual market but i do not see any promising coins that could overtake the place of bitcoin,if you think there are other promising coins which could over take bitcoin in terms of decentralization and without any pre mine, then i could say that there will be other coins ,most of the recent coin offers are token and it is entirely different than a currency.

I think there are no promising altcoins that you described, but I think there will be some that will try and challenged bitcoin in the long run. But I do think that bitcoin will remain as the top currency no matter what negative they throw at it. And once the high transaction fees can be resolved, then I think investors will go back to bitcoin ecosystem again.
Yeah I also believe that bitcoins will still be famous because bitcoin prove itself for a long time and until now it is still number one. Even if bitcoin will not be number 1 for long bitcoin will still famous no matter what because a lot of people are believing in bitcoin.

the fact that bitcoin reigned from the beginning until now doesn't guarantee that its invincible. there might be no noticeable competition between it and other altcoins but who

knows in the future. if you're watching the market, altcoins particularly the ones on the top are significantly growing. others have predicted that we might see a significant

competition between them in the future. as for bitcoin, a big change might occur in a few weeks so lets see if it will positively or negatively affect the system as well as its

community.

yes i also do not think that Etherium will overtake bitcoin. bitcoin will remain as number currency for ever, i do not think that any other currency can take the position of bitcoin. bitcoin is the first choice of all the people and will remain as number for ever.

I thought for sure it would take until the end of 2018 but it looks like this summer ethereum might pass it up. With the turmoil around BTC potential splitting, it might be very soon. IMO this is healthy, we will always value bitcoin for being the one that started it all, but it's time for a more dynamic and adaptable currency to take the lead.

Ethereum? Really, huh? Well it looks like your Ethereum is going down together with other altcoins and bitcoins. The coin didn't took over bitcoins yet but we still have a lot of time to judge that. In my opinion, bitcoin will always be the number one because whales are supporting and trading bitcoins. ETH might go up and have a pretty good market but it would always be an altcoin, a simple copy of bitcoin's concept.

I think it would take a lot more than hype (or a lot more hype) for a coin to replace bitcoin. We saw BTU and that was quite a hype but now it's in the garbage can. Bitcoin has always been strong but this potential split might change things.

Perhaps in the distant future bitcoin will not be the first, but now it is only for a while that new crypto-currencies can be omitted. Still bitcoin appeared earlier and now it is stronger than the rest.

I think you came to this idea because of the recent rise in Athens. It may be true but I do believe that ethereum will be able to keep their profits for a long time. Sooner or later the price will go down so always remind yourself not to lose yourself and try to stay intact. In a market like this, it is easy to think that it will not last well.

Really a 200$+ Altcoin will pass up the 2300$+ King of the Cryptocurrency in just little over a year? Isn't it were jumping to a big conclusion without analyzing the situation yet? Yes Bitcoin might have a split soon but isn't it true that Ethereum has 2 versions as well? What made you think that the outcome of Bitcoin splitting will be in favor of Ethereum? Another thing to point out is the awareness of the common people in which as of right now Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency even common people know it Ethereum on the other hand is yet to be recognized by them.

This is true in the world of business but it is not true in the world of currencies, most of the time the world has a reserve currency, a currency that is recognized by the whole world and most of the time that last for a long time, decades and even centuries.
