I don't get it why Ripples get so much publicity. OK, it's probably a scam, but what makes it so interesting that people are interested in it more than any other altcoin ?

Anyone know which alt currencies are the most widely distributed and held by the public? If you were to start a business accepting cryptocurrencies, which would you support? BTC, LTC, and what else? Also is there another cryptocoin list like the one at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=134179.0

I hope that our investment in BTX is not merely a placeholder or proof of concept for something better ! Having said that, only 21 million BTC, not exactly noob friendly, certainly not big business/company friendly, pretty non-liquid, exchanges are prone to hacking, and lost wallets are lost coins - Forever. If you lose your "real" keys and wallet, you can always get replacement keys and credit cards. Lose your bitcoin wallet, and maybe your life savings are gone.

Hi, I just wanted to suggest a pool I am mining on (a measly 120 MHash/s....actually signed up on here so I look into buying some ASIC USB miners I saw someone is selling) but I thought I would suggest the pool I am mining in: http://mmpool.bitparking.com/pool. It simultaneously mines Bitcoins, Namecoins, devcoins, and ixcoins (no idea what ixcoins are). I have not read through all the pages of this thread so sorry if this has been suggested.

I doubt you will reach your ROI with those single-chip miners, but good luck. What do they make per day now?

I wonder if any reason for LTC and FTC to exist except to give a chance those who were late to mine BTC. Well, the "silver" thing seems to have worked out for LTC, but FTC? IMO it makes the whole thing look like pyramid, they "follow" LTC's software updates and everything.
P.S. And yes, I just want out of the sandbox so I can go to burnside and complain about my locked account.

I used to use that pool. I became disenchanted because it would often take more than a day to find a block, and then sometimes it would be orphaned. I moved to ABC, where you simply get paid per share, and enjoyed getting the same amount of BTC every day. Unfortunately, they're now closing. I'm now on 50BTC. I also like BTC Guild, but they've been encouraging people to move on because they're getting too big. But since that really has nothing to do with alt coins, I'll also mention I'm trying some XPM (Primecoin) mining. It's still in the solo CPU mining stages.

Alt coins can become useful, I think, if people start accepting them for services or goods. That's all that is missing.
I completely agree. I'll be offering such a service soon. Long Live BQC!

Devcoin has a lot of potential, and just had its 2nd birthday. You can buy them on Vircurex and invest them on Cryptostocks.

I wanted to check out the site and see the free coin faucets you have available there to see. Also, What sort of good pools are available on your site? Are they ad sponsored or free. I am looking for a program to mine as well as to acquire a lot of bitcoins. I know you think its impossible, i am willing to devote as much time to this as possible. Obviously, I am a newbie to this, but i will get the hand of it in time, i believe. I am always on the look out for good info with regards to mining bitcoins. I love this forums.
