I think Dogecoin will be pretty much dead in a few months.

While I wish it to lose some importance , I don't really want it to die as it will have a negative effect.
But also , don't underestimate the power and madness of 4chan.
I didn't know 4chan is behind this. But why Dogecoin? The Doge meme is most popular on 9gag and on Hugelol.

9gag is different from 4chan. And the only way to understand it is by joining it , but that is one path to darkens Smiley).
4chan tends to be more like a community than 9gag which was a post wall and hasn't evolved too much from.
Also , don't take this as literary but as it's not juts one board pushing it but usually crazy ideas and joker that spread like plague and tend to annoy people to death start from there.

I agree that many of the alt-coins do not and will not provide any lasting added value to digital currencies. So many of them just seem to be projects that have been made for fun. Since most of these currencies seem to derive their value from bitcoin they can provide a legitimate value in someway since you are trading them and their value against the as the standard. Regardless of what currency it is this inherently adds value to the standard coin. This can be viewed in a way that is similar to International currencies all being measured against US dollar. Bitcoin is the US dollar and the other currencies are like the UK pound this Spanish dollar, or the Papua New Guinea Kina. The more alt currencies there are, the more legitimate bit coin becomes. There is also value in a simple meme as has been proved with Dogecoin. the OP is in my opinion correct in saying that you should be cautious when dealing with some of these alternatives but that does not mean that they do not have inherent value.

Let's imagine a future(not that far really) where all coins have of all types that have ever been given a value in relation to the BTC have been mined, I would say the alt coins then would act like the quarters, dimes, nickles, etc.  I think this because since alt coins value is all dervied from the BTC, once all coins have been mined the alt coins value will stabalize based off the BTC.  The value of the BTC may vary much like countries currencies, but since alt coins value is always based off of BTC then the alt currencies will stabalize within this.

It's hard to imagine the alt coin market as a whole crashing, and they will all be mined one day so I wonder what a PPC will look like next to a BTC then.

You're wrong on this.
Right now the cryptos are like visa , mastercard, discovery etc etc.
And , do you use visa to pay for gas , mastercard for groceries and discovery for condoms? Count out the promo offers they might have at a few stores.

Also , take a look at what happened in Europe.
One single currency that simplified a lot when your travel and make purchases.
I had a bag of coins and small paper change from my visits prior to that which i could only spend if I went back to France of Spain. Now I don't have to think about this anymore.

I think it's bad that people try to steal the content of your wallets. I guess this also happens physically though. Litecoins are safe right? I think there should be some list somewhere that lists legit programs and altcoins.
I have been mining Litecoins lately, it would be a shame if they get stolen from me Sad

Altcoin + luck = profit. For example I have 6MH, mined 6 hours for CAT and I have 1BTC Cheesy

I'm trying to mine some cat as well and I'm having trouble, I'm sure it's a super newb thing.  I'm signed up for a pool and have my workers made but I keep getting messages "rejected 018basdb Diff gpu 0 share is above target" after connecting to their url in cg miner.  Can anyone help?  I've mined before but only to the extent of following someone elses instructions.

I've just installed a 280x (ASUS R9280X-DC2T-3GD5)
Running on Windows 7 with Catalyst 13.12
Using cgminer 3.7.2 with the following options: -I 13 -g 2 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8192 --shaders 2048
Tried intensity 15 yesterday and had a few HW errors, tried it again today without HW errors but does not increase the hashrate (even tried 20 this morning, computer is mostly unusable and hashrate still around 600)
GPU clock at 1070mhz, GPU memory clock at 6400mhz, temp at 82 celsius
Any idea to increase the hashrate up to 700-800?

Same here, I bought 9 R9 280x and setup 3x3 gpu miners and I'm only getting 610khash per gpu. Intensity 14 or more gives me HW nonce errors, so I'm mining all at I13, tried different drivers and cgminer versions too, but nothing change.

The only thing I was able to change is the TC I'm using 10240 instead of 8192, but can't go over 10240, the GPUs are OC'ed at Engine 1150 and Memories 1750.

Actually I'm mining EAC, CAT and TRK on each one of them.

First of all, put on top of your .bat file (in case you are using a .bat file to launch cgminer of course) the following two lines :

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

I had the same problem with my rig and it solved it.Now i'm happily hashing at 760/card

All I know so far is that it's safest to store backups of your wallet on two separate drives. And not use online wallets. Why not ask your question in a new thread? It will most likely just get lost in here, since this thread is about Alt-Coins.

Yeah I already got those 2 lines on OS boot, still not able to go over 610/card, Win7 64bit btw.

I gave up a week ago trying to mine at more then 610khash per GPU after 3 days of testing but I didnt find any solution, I tried to put 1 card on the pcie bus directly too without risers to see if that was the problem, but doesn't change nothing so I don't have any other clues...

Maybe I simpy got crap GPU's that cannot run at high TC or intesity, models are Sapphire Vapor-X OC R9 280X.

Make sure to get the latest beta catalyst drives, seeing much higher hash rates with it.

Which cryptocurrency is the most profitable for mining in next few days? Lotto, Fedoracoin?

Remember that what's profitable today might not be tomorrow , when all miners switch their rigs to it.

I know coinwarz. That's why I asked for future&your predictions, not today Smiley

And do you think anybody will know the right answer?
Its a lottery game. Not just because of miners flocking to that coin but also because of somebody trying to dump or pump that damn altcoin you're mining.
