Really interesting comments in this thread.

I'm a developer on a project myself that we just recently announced to the public.  We've seen some good traction so far, but I do think the marketplace is crowded making it harder to stand out.

As a token purchaser and investor, I largely look for teams that have significant professional experience in the space and are willing to put their reputations on the line, so to speak.  I know there are some anonymous teams, and it could be they are staying anonymous for good reasons, but I personally haven't participated in any token sales from teams like those.  Just too much risk.

Investing in ICO does not tell us whether it is promising or not. It is not the ICO itself that determines whether your investment would be worth it or not. It is the project using the ICO. ICO is basically neutral, it might end up good or bad, depending on the specific project. Choose the best and promising project, and your investment on an ICO will have huge returns. Choose the scam one, and you will end up throwing away money.

I agreed, ICO coin is quite risky, especially most of them are scams. Project looks promising but it is a scam project. So, investing an ICO coin may let you earn, but if you're unluckily to join some scammed ICO, then your earning had to cover these losses.
You don't need waiting the success of the project you joined, as me I buy some amount Bitquence when ICO crowdsale with rate @2000 sat per coin, then after listed to exchange in first time, I have sold all with rate @3000 sat per coin, 50% for a round I think better than try trading Roll Eyes
For that you will need, the project to have something going on already before the ICO, many of the ICOs these days do not have a single line of code written when they begin, this makes difficult for investors to decide if they want to invest in the ICO, since it is difficult to know if the aims of the team are realistic and if they are able to make their goals a reality.

I am a person that gains profit from investing in ICOs but now I'm having second thoughts. I know some ICOs are potential scam so I am really picky to where I put my money.
Anyway, considering with what happened to Ethereum price and with the nearing Aigist 1, do you guys think that it will still be profitable to invest on ICOs mostly on ERC20 tokens and those accepting btc payments?
I have seen so many coins or token that is under their ICO price but I still think that it could still be promising .
It really depends on the project I think even if some of the coin is undervalue for a couple of weeks or month it could be pump if the project is great.

Correct, the most important aspect are the developers of the project, it does not matter if the the token goes below ICO price if I believe in the project that could be a good opportunity to buy even more of the token for a discount that way when it skyrockets you can get even better profits or if you like you could sell at an earlier moment now that you have reduced the average price of each token you own.

It depends on what project you follow, if you can choose a good and successful project, then you are very lucky and believe to invest in ICO next.

If the project is funded and there are people behind the project that makes it legit, I think its worth investing. It only needs time to make the price go up. I saw a lot of project since the time I have been here in the bitcoin community and witness projects looks scam because of fudsters but after the development, investors started to buy by bulk.

You said you pick where you put your money and that's good. I do believe you also do your research on projects and coins before investing so that's good to. I just wan to say that investing always involves risks and sometime risks are good and you gain something from it and sometimes it's bad, really really bad. It's always up to you if you want to invest or not, just be mindful and do what you think is best. Best of luck!

I think it's a bad idea, especially after so many people have already made money on it.

Many people can use ICOs to launder money. So we buy low and sell high. Make $
that's usually the case when ico start with low value then after hitting exchange dev will try pumping the price and early holders will begin to sell
and grab their earnings I guess people around here already knew this and try risking their btc so just in case things went right big profits will be gain
after.

If you start to invest it would be nice we choose and read more in who is in the project .. so that no unwanted things like fraud

Well, by seeing the price of bitcoin, no wonder that could happen. Just see all of the alts, but good thing is that majority of alts still have the same value in dollar, so if your'e investing from dollar and converted to either btc or eth, you'll get the same amount as what you've invested into the ICO or a little bit less

Many of the ICO has scam a lot of investors and I told my friend about a coins that he invested on but today the coins turn to shit coin. I don't think it is bad  to invest into a reliable ICO now especially if you know how to play your games very well.  Many investors are still making good profit from ico investment and others are still losing and getting many disappointments from their investment. It all depends on your analysis and study on any coin you want to invest in.

That's given already, with lack of knowledge most likely you will be able to invest in scam ICOs so the bottom line is
you need to fully understand the project your are planning to invest before putting your money to it.
It's hard to lose in scam because you are not given a fight of your own money, you lose because of negligence.

Investing in ICO's require patience.  You can not expect large amounts of profits immediately.  Some projects do go up pretty quick but the majority takes time until developments and marketing kicks in.

Investing in ICO is a must for long-term investment since recent ICO projects have seen very slow but profitable growth, which will make ICO projects more likely to Develop technology and apply it in our daily lives

I know that when it comes to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies there are almost no rules but what you are describing should be forbidden, the developers of a project should not buy their own tokens, they have insider information about the coin, they could send a message that the development is going to take an additional 6 months and that makes the price tank then they buy cheap and then they deliver the results in just two months and the coin skyrockets and they make a fortune.

Investing into ICO's provides good returns on the investment. This is purely subject to the growth in the token value as well the market capital gained. These days ICO projects gets developed with unique features and the same causes the investment into it promising.
