The regulators are so scared about the amounts of money which ICO's are collecting. It is a really unique situation for them and they re more than shocked and don't know what to do and how to act. That is why they are firstly trying to stop all these ICO's and after they are going to learn everything about it by themselves, elaborate new rules which will fit them and then maybe to conduct such actions (ICO's) themselves.

You know, regulators feel that they lose huge amount of money. And they are a bit envy that this money don't go through them (through their pockets). So, before they are gaining profits they are trying to stop and restrict it.
But I think because of such hypes around crypto currencies - there would be a balance and some kind of clever solution. I hope..

I am a person that gains profit from investing in ICOs but now I'm having second thoughts. I know some ICOs are potential scam so I am really picky to where I put my money.
Anyway, considering with what happened to Ethereum price and with the nearing Aigist 1, do you guys think that it will still be profitable to invest on ICOs mostly on ERC20 tokens and those accepting btc payments?
Op there are still some good ICO with promising good on investment at the end of the ICO despite the fact that many of the ICO are scam project in recent time. Draftcoin is a project that has potential good return on investment if invest your spare money in the project before the end of ICO, you check my current signature for more details about the project.

Problem starts when People on both the side (Investors & Project owners) look at making quick buck. If if either one of the party did the research, the risk around ICOs could be mitigated. Having said that, it is quite a young market and it will eventually stabilise. Till then, choose where you invest, look for the background of the founders, their previous track history and experience. Start your shortlist criteria to be Projects with a working product & you should be fine.
The problem is that people want to make millions of dollar without investing a single second to research the project and that is why we get so many scams around the forum, but that gives to those that are willing to take the time a huge advantage to make a lot of money if they play their cards right.

I think investing in ICO is still profitable because there are some ICO that make investors get big profits. Now to get  profit from ICO is to be more hard because so many ICO this periode. Its very important to analyze the ICO in fundamentally like to know the founder team and also read and study the white paper and what their goals and what problems to be solved. Between invest in ICO on ERC20 or in BTC payment , I think both are same risk.

Investment to ICO is of course still profitable. It's just that we need to know which ICO is fake and original. We need to know which ICO is profitable and deceptive. There are people who can make 10-fold profit from ICO in a short time. That's great when compared to Bitcoin investments that may take a long time. I think everything needs investment. We build a house, need investment. We build a website or business, it also needs investment.

So does with an ICO. But because of my very little knowledge about ICO, I prefer to invest Bitcoin alone.

I've seen a lot of people are just following the trend that already booming in this time. Just like some people are following their friend to invest in a project and if they get another lost from there and they are blaming its project

It is still promising, I think. Although, as you've said, there are ICOs that are scams and we as investors doesn't what that thing to happen. That's why we should make further readings before investing, to somewhat know the background of a certain ICO especially its team.

Your right some of ICO's was scam we dont know if they are scam so that its hard to decide if you want to invest or not just because of them and if you have a  doubt to invest in some of ICO's dont invest because it's not worth it but my opinion choose a nice and no negative trust and do some research or review their profile to think that they are not scam. Investing in some ICO's always think that it is profitable and thats really happening.

I was reading an article this morning, about how much profit are people making by participating in pre-ICO campaigns. I guess thats a big thing, as the discounts are significant!

Well you really make good money on the ICO's specially first when the ICO are successful and second when the price of that token exceed the price of ICO when they enter any exchanges. ICO's are quiet risky for me because you will not know if the ICO price will remain after they enter some exchange. But i still support ICO who promote good business system for our bright future.

Even if you invested in a legitimate ICO sometimes the price will not start at its ICO price but its below ICO price and that is a good opportunity to buy if you don't invest in ICO as sometimes there are big dumps from bounty hunters and also those who got a good bonus for being early investors.
Since there are a lot of ICOs now, if they project will not start with aggressive price, it might loss its investors because most investors are looking for fast ROI.

This is why i dont spend money at an ICO at first. I join bounty.. at first ICO managers are at high energy of interacting with the community at near closing of ICO they slow down and even stop. If devs finds a way of keeping the communication active I then consider investing. Given that i see potential.

The good way to do it is to hodl it. Investing in ICOs is a good one and is still a promising form of investment. But as I have said in the beginning, you have to hodl your tokens for a while so that they will gain value as the project you are participating is gradually fulfilling their roadmap. The bonuses offered in ICOs are big so there is a big profit once the price of the token rises. But choosing the right ICOs is an altogether different battle.

no dont invest in any icos, 99% are scams ICOs are honeypots for dumpers. you pay your expensive btc or eth and inturn you get wortless tokens

on exchange launch day like tezos or eos most ico tokens will lose 90% of the value be careful
though only 1% apart but there is ICO that is not a scam, actually you like gambling,
so before dropping your money into ICO project it's good you first learn the concept and his team, it's better ..

I always see ICO as a promising investment but you are right, there are some scam ICO and need to be careful in choosing the right one.

But even if there are scam ICO i still find ICO very profitable.

Check out Assetrons Pre-Ico Sale, really like the project, and the tokens are only 0.025 USD compared to the 0.04 plan for end of ICO. They are in Australia and are regulated by ASIC. As soon as Token Sale ends, these can be traded on the WAVES DEX, so they are already on an exchange.

(Yes I invested 3 BTC into them)

Another one is Dentacoin - https://dentacoin.com/, in The Netherlands

ICO will remain a promotional medium. indeed today many ICO's are scam. But not all projects. investors really are investors who are ready about the profit and loss. Everything has been taken into account. even the losses to be borne have been prepared. so it does not affect their finances.

ICO nowadays just became a way for whales to acquire a huge amount of coins and then dump it once listed on exchanges. For an easy profit. I think its better to let the project prove itself first and establish the price in the market before jumping into it.

Even though investing in ICO is risky but still profitable. The only thing we should do, isto have a smart choice of ICO'S before having an investment because there are many promising ICO's at the start but in the end it is totally a scam.

I will only invest in project that already has working product/ prototype , like bankera already has spectrocoin , Monaize already has working apps etc. Project that only has whitepaper is very risky and I avoid it at all cost unless the team behind it is really trustworthy and capable.
