Avalon should think about refunding every customer of a B3 4 Module Avalon 20 BTC and 15 BTC for every 3 Module Avalon.
They told us that the price was calculated on a 2-3 Months ROI. So the difficulty is way higher then it was before, so this sounds pretty fair to me.
Especially if they ship the chips out, before we get our units.
I have thought about this too but think the refund would be more significant if one were to base it on math, and assuming my math is correct.
It was supposed to ROI in 30 days according to Avalon
How is each batch’s unit price determined?
The price of each unit is the current mining difficulty which at the time of writing, just got readjusted to about 6,695,826. We take that number and multiply it by two ( predicting the network speed will double. ) and calculate the return in a thirty day window, which is about 75 bitcoins. See this site for more details.
(from FAQ on
http://launch.avalon-asics.com/)
Using Avalon's own formula to calculate price of batch 3 as if it went on sale today (and it may as well have):
First, double difficulty
21,335,329 x 2 = 42,670,658
88Gh @ 42,670,658 = 1.0372 a day or 31.116 BTC a month
So a 4 module Avalon "would" be priced at 31.116 BTC if it went on sale today.
Subtracting the actual cost (103.24) should give us the "pro rated refund".
31.116 - 103.24 = 72.124
So, obviously just entertaining this
very valid idea of a pro rated refund, I think Avalon would have to return
72.124 to 4 module batch 3 customers, if they based it on math... and we all seem to love math
Also, that's assuming we have it in hand in 1 month or prior to diff hitting 42,670,658
Even if you don't double difficulty in that equation, the "pro rated discount" would/should be
40 BTC for a 88Gh :/
Tell me my math is wrong? Please??
*edit* I'm not saying they should or would do this... just an excuse to depress myself with math, haha.
Another idea I had was for them to ship free water blocks with batch 3. It's something that they could design and produce pretty inexpensively that would add value to their product and hopefully let us hit higher hash rates. It would be nice to see some kind of gesture but for the record, I am keeping my order and turned down 37k for it from a forum member at one point!
