I agree that a pro-rated refund should be issued since the price in BTC was calculated via ROI/difficulty estimates based on original shipping time.

That would be a very kind gesture and go a long way when they start selling gen 2 ASICs.

Avalon should  think about refunding every customer of a B3 4 Module  Avalon 20 BTC and 15 BTC for every 3 Module Avalon.

They told us that the price was calculated on a 2-3 Months ROI. So the difficulty is way higher then it was before, so this sounds pretty fair to me.

Especially if they ship the chips out, before we get our units.

That would be fair and the right move. But I'm not sure that is going to happen

Why would they sell Gen2 when they can now competely self fund?

Why not both?

I have thought about this too but think the refund would be more significant if one were to base it on math, and assuming my math is correct.

It was supposed to ROI in 30 days according to Avalon
Quote
How is each batch’s unit price determined?

The price of each unit is the current mining difficulty which at the time of writing, just got readjusted to about 6,695,826. We take that number and multiply it by two ( predicting the network speed will double. ) and calculate the return in a thirty day window, which is about 75 bitcoins. See this site for more details.
(from FAQ on http://launch.avalon-asics.com/)

Using Avalon's own formula to calculate price of batch 3 as if it went on sale today (and it may as well have):

First, double difficulty
21,335,329 x 2 = 42,670,658

88Gh @ 42,670,658 = 1.0372 a day or 31.116 BTC a month

So a 4 module Avalon "would" be priced at 31.116 BTC if it went on sale today.

Subtracting the actual cost (103.24) should give us the "pro rated refund".

31.116 - 103.24 = 72.124

So, obviously just entertaining this very valid idea of a pro rated refund, I think Avalon would have to return 72.124 to 4 module batch 3 customers, if they based it on math... and we all seem to love math Smiley

Also, that's assuming we have it in hand in 1 month or prior to diff hitting 42,670,658

Even if you don't double difficulty in that equation, the "pro rated discount" would/should be 40 BTC for a 88Gh :/

Tell me my math is wrong?  Please??

*edit* I'm not saying they should or would do this... just an excuse to depress myself with math, haha.
Another idea I had was for them to ship free water blocks with batch 3.  It's something that they could design and produce pretty inexpensively that would add value to their product and hopefully let us hit higher hash rates.  It would be nice to see some kind of gesture but for the record, I am keeping my order and turned down 37k for it from a forum member at one point!

with batch 2, they seem to randomly ship orders.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

I think its due payment processor failure (and guest store accounts). I dont see any reason to not ship #3 by order number.

Batch 2 is winding down... Batch3 should be spinning up soon.

Will Bitsyncom work out the logistics of the trade-ins before, during, or after Batch 3?
Anyone want to make some guesses/predictions as to when the first Batch 3 tracking number gets sent?

I'll get things started ---  ahhh ---- May 5th!  Wink

I guess that the first Batch3 confirms will go out on July 9th.
I figure they have about 50 Batch2 servers left (1-2 days), and 100 trade-ins (3-4 days), and 2 days to get all the administrative crap with the trade-ins.

What's your guess?

I know that.  Batch 3 ships right after batch 2 according to yifu.  I don't really think a couple weeks is going to make it ROI much later than yours.

Thank you.  All in all, the mining community is a very doom and gloom mindset.  In the history since I've been here, I've heard people say this and that are never going to be profitable, whether it's GPUs, FPGAs, or ASICs.  They have been wrong most of the time.  I will let the chips fall where they may.  Good luck to you too.

Everyone is so fucking anxious on this board. Every other post is a "Where is my order?! What hasn't it shipped? OMG OMG OMG NO ROI!!!11"
I do not blame Yifu at all for not appearing on the board frequently. Good for him for avoiding all the FUD.

I now, right? People get so needy when they've been lied to by somebody holding thousands of their money.
