I was wondering that how much return would it ultimately provide?
Is investing in secure node is a good idea?

This is filled with current informations but number of nodes will increase, and price can change hopefully will increase.

Thanks for this pic. Now is more clear. I just did not find info about how much secure node running.
One more info. How much secure nodes can be started with one IP address?

Then you have to factor in the inflation from newly minted coins + appreciation to coin value from adoption rate, investments, uses, and new nodes.

Don't worry, I have a feeling once the coin gets established, becomes mainstream, and is on more exchanges, they'll raise the minimum for running a securenode. That is the only option that ecosystem can survive. The other option is to allocate more from the mined coins but it's a greater evil. They'll choose the one which will upset a lesser number of people which is to raise the minimum.

Has anyone successfully set up a secure node, on Windows 10, using their Mining rig system? Any troubleshooting tips?

I'm interested in if this is practicable, or if it is more difficult to set up a node than that. I have a mining rig that is on pretty much 24/7 anyway, so if I can run a secure node through it, then of course I'd be happy to.

I already do similar things with staking other coins by leaving those relevant wallets open on the staking option while still pow mining. Running a node through it as well would really make that system work hard!

ZEC soared, triggering a wave of ZEC digging tide, many miners had dig ETH Digging ZEC, we almost do not know ZEN has been beyond Ethereum, became the highest mining rate of the current mining currency.

Etoque, why does your name sound familiar? Were you a troll or supporter on the Darkcoin thread in the earlier days:) Mid to late 2014 timeframe.

Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding the GUI wallet app (ZENCashDesktopGUIWallet.exe to be more specific). Is there any way (on windows/linux) to pass the working directory during launch, e.g., --data-dir="..." like it works usually for most of Qt wallets? If yes, where can I find the list of those options? Google and github lookup didn't give me any useful information on this matter.
Thanks in advance!

Happy to be here as a new investor and miner.
Don't know a lot about this nodes but i will do some readings.

But i saw there are people that will have like 100 nodes just for them self.
I doubt it will stay profitable for a long time if it keeps going like that.

If that won't happen i will look into a node for my self, there is still so much growth!  Smiley

its already not profitable , the devs fcked the nodes big time.

What the hell are you talking about?

there will be 4000 pretty soon add to this the VPS/domain name cost and all the time you will spend on them managing the annoying exceptions that you have no control over and all the updates (another form of exceptions), it is not interesting at all, better buying low and selling high to make money with that coin.

ZEN was a great project until they fcked up the secure nodes. I give them the 2017 deception award.

Well, I would not take it there yet. I am not sure if you have software development experience, but expecting a go-live with no defects is unrealistic. There will always be issues and the question is whether they are capable of prioritizing correctly, and addressing them in a timely manner. One thing that concerns me is that there was no mention of these issues in this thread. Are these being logged/discussed somewhere else? Is there another Zencash communication channel that I am not aware of?

Build a ZenCash Secure Node – Part 1 – Prepare the VPS

Everything in this post is still valid, and if you follow along on this post it explains more of what is going on and is a more basic tutorial. Part 1 and Part 2 are still completely valid and are duplicated in the newest post…just with less pictures and explanations. https://blockoperations.com/build-zencash-secure-node-part-1-prepare-vps/

Secure Nodes delivering amazing stability and security for Zen system, and with SN network is most reliable in whole crypto world. Also you can earn some Zen for running a node.
Yes you are right about Windows 10, i'm still in quest for one made on Windows platform..

We have different motives for investing in crypto, but from my experience involving on the long run brings most satisfactory results. Zen system just started and it is clearly stated in white paper that many things can and will be changed over time, as result of system feedbacks.
System will evolve and will be improved, please take your time and watch this great video:

why would you want a secure node ? And why would you want to run it on Windows 10 ?

I have a mining rig running almost 24/7, so if I can run a secure node through it while mining, and the return is greater than the vps cost, then why wouldn't I? Get paid in zencash, plus help secure the network - sounds good to me.

I want to run it on Windows 10, as my mining rig is running on Windows 10. That's the only reason, plus I'm not particularly familiar with linux based operating systems.

I had the same idea so very briefly looked into it. Its not gonna be plug & play. The biggest obstacle seems to be getting a dedicated ips which is necessary to config your dhs. Most internet provideds lend you a dynamic IP address which changes every so often. So if youre hosting itsthepopo.com, no one will be able to reach your server untill you manually set your dhs to point to your new ip address (which will be constantly changing). Aside from that, theres not guides currently available yet for setting up a zennode on windows...

What do you think will happen when your mining rig crashes?  And it will crash... it will take your secure node with it.  VPS is much more reliable way to run a node, as you need to maintain uptime, block height, challenge responses, and more.

You could certainly run a virtual machine on Windows though if you want to try.

The --data-dir= parameter can be passed manually to zend/zen-cli but making the GUI wallet work with it will require GUI wallet changes... Wink

Yes, I'm aware of that possibility and it's an extremely handy one as it helps keeping all the needed blockchains in the right place.
So for now the solution is to go back to zen-cli and to wait for the new GUI wallet releases? Should I submit a feature request or something to make it happen faster perhaps?
