I've managed to sync with the longest blockchain out there which still appears to be growing in size. If anyone wants the files for this blockchain without having to go through the painful process of ending up in one of many dead ends whilst trying to sync I've put it in an archive here: https://apps.memopal.com/e/8N2U8MP4 (48,974 of 48,979 blocks as I type this). NOTE: I have no idea if there is anything wrong in this blockchain, nor do I know what shakezula is planning for any possible revival. It's contents can be explored via my Block Crawler page: http://doubloons.kicks-ass.net/block_crawler.php

Good luck on the fork, a better difficulty adjust is definitely needed.
I never had problems connecting, but that could be because I was mining for the last several days ever since the big difficulty adjust started. I think I have a good chunk of the new blocks mined, I have about 90 DBL confirming now.

I like DBL - is fun and worth keeping alive - i'll certainly help promo it correctly in the future Shake - i know that doesn't help you now , but if you are holding units it may help later -
Cheers.

I'm new to the whole alt coin world, but I really, truly hope that this stays a thing. The thought of having doubloons makes me chuckle.

He's workin' on it, we've found the proper chain and got it all synced up to arol and the explorers. He just needs to tidy some things up, tweak some things so this hopefully doesn't happen again, push some checkpoints, and release the new binaries.

U going to be relisted at Cryptsy or is my investment in DBL a complete loss??? I don't know, that's up to Cryptsy. Truth be told, any "investment" in DBL was not terribly sensible as its from the beginning been a coin without seriousness. Disclaimer, I didn't monetarily profit AT ALL from DBL. Caveat emptor.

Yep. You can validate it at explorer.doubloons.net. You may see the wallet go in/out of synch if a bad node tries to serve you the fork. This can be solved by adding the ban info to your .conf and once a bad node is detected it will block it from reconnection. Eventually the banned nodes will either have to upgrade or die.
