Community take over is impossible since the dev holds majority of the coins, If ever, Anyone can takeover those investors that holds huge chunk of coins since he will make sure that he will create a value for the coin.

Also we can donate some BTC or ETHD to the new dev to kick start the take over.

In the case of Zero, the community donated their Zero coins to pay for someone to redo the website, work on the wallet, etc. However, Zero is a mineable coin, not a token. If we could revert ETHD back to a mineable coin instead of a token, create a wallet and maybe issue new coins, we'd have a chance to make it work.

I just reached out to the dev that I'm talking about. I know that he's got his hands full with his current coin. For anyone interested, his coin is IXC. It's an interesting project and is listed on CMC. It's been around since 2013, so the guy is legit. I don't know what he'll say, but maybe he can recommend someone to us if he's not interested or able to take it over.
