Hi Everybody

I'm havinng a problem with my VIVO masternode, same as somebody before, if I do not specify my IP in the VIVO.conf, then I get the message:
Not capable masternode: Can't detect valid external address. Please consider using the externalip configuration option if problem persists. Make sure to use IPv4 address only.

if I specify the IP and the port 12845 in the VIVO.conf, I get the message:

Not capable masternode: Could not connect to myip:12845.

I checked the port from outside and it is open.

any help please?

regards

@sirrick
I have the same problem. I have disable my firewall in windows, open my ports in the router, a static IP4 address. But if I start my masternode is the same error displayed:

"Not capable masternode: Can't detect valid external address. Please consider using the externalip configuration option if problem persists. Make sure to use IPv4 address only."

I do not understand why it should be a security problem to run the MN on the desktop at home. if you rent a server the coins somewhere in the world on a computer, since can also happen a lot ...

<snip>
This big drop has been mainly caused by a 14k VIVO amount
that has been stolen directly from the wallet of a user.

That wouldn't cause such a drop with a 24 hour volume of 10+ BTC.

Consideration: No protection from theft has been put in place, any.

You can (and should) encrypt the wallet with a passphrase.  From what Gerry said, it's like the guy (unfortunately) opened the front door of his house and let the thief wander around his house.  I feel really sorry for him, but it's not the fault of the Vivo team or wallet.

I think that the dev team should ban all the addresses that are quite apparent are being used to as masternodes from this theft...you can see the theft and you can see that this asshole who stole 14k VIVO is using the funds to create masternodes.  Not only is he taking money away from honest people by stealing it; he is continuing to steal from honest people by being allowed  to use the funds to create masternodes and get income on those nodes.  I have a screen shot of his theft, and i took the time to map out the addresses that he is using as masternodes:

Original theft address of our thief:  VGD7DU3UX4wsTwndRmmr1S35fvk1Dxbvx7
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzCgUiehTWqrLUFrWVcxZXdXNVU

His distribution addresses:

He sent 799.99** to VN4ySftqs6D7s6nJjk5SCGHS1ERdTYRPTk
He sent 1000 to the following addresses:
VZ19vf5evZULVvExdkWsKiGvaNfi6mzVDz
VG9Tjucj8nfeujFkhpjwJ7f7RejTMnGpX8
VQ2mDFduaLEf9DyWBckyatohDPG5BK8gad

VWnmQmg8yy6Ur3ynpraHi8BHM9as8Cg9c1
VN76JwfCipu7hbW2JsxRhzCe9nmvesE7sW

Please lets make sure that this asshole is not taking income from us.  I have confirmation that he has turned them in master nodes.  take a look at this:
Here is him having setup a masternode using the last address: VN76JwfCipu7hbW2JsxRhzCe9nmvesE7sW
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzCgUiehTWqrWnktYV84bGxiMzA

Please quote this post and say that you support these addresses being banned.

Thank you

I second (or third) this.. ban the guy

You need to have "externalip=1.2.3.4" (where 1.2.3.4 is your external IP address) in the vivo.conf file.

Also, having the port open on your router is not enough.  You need to enable port forwarding on the router to forward that port to the same port on your local PC (and make sure that you have allowed both public and private networks to access the Vivo wallet port when you were prompted by the Windows firewall).

Now many people want to buy coins and install MN.
Do not reduce the price, the demand is high and many are ready to buy more!

Hi, I also tried to run a masternode. I installed Vivo (on Win), then I also got the error.
I added
externalip=x.y.z.a
to the vivo.conf file and then it worked, maybe this will help you too

But now I got a different problem:
Overnight my IP changed and I wanted to restart the masternode but I couldn't because of that. What I did is: I generated a new masternodekey, transfered the collateral to the new address and wanted to restart everything with the new IP, I even initialized all the *.dat files (apart from wallet.dat). But now I get either your error above or this when specifying the new IP using externalip: Not capable masternode: Mastenode not in masternode list. How to solve this? (Of course its not in the list, its a new one! but yeserday it worked  Huh)

My node went up and live on the 11th, Roughly 11 hours later I recieved a payout of 5.0 vivo - and then 5 vivo every 10~ hours thereafter as Enabled

Suddenly it went to restart required, then pre_enabled then restart required, and now pre_enabled again. Its now been 20 hours since my last payment and I just can't get it to go back to ENABLED.

I've moved it from my home machine to a vps, redownloaded the latest version of the wallet, let it fully sync.
I see a bunch of masternodes in the list with new start required - did the chain fork or something?

Yeah, chain forked, happens sometimes. Follow block explorer for the right chain.

How do I tell if I'm on the right chain?

As a test I sent 35 vivo to nova - http://vivo.explorerz.top:3003/address/VQiwz9GJpuHmBViXnshwvsfiDVR2cyYkUb and it worked, the coins arrived.

My node is still sitting on pre_enabled. Using v0.12.1.7.74d90e2
Current number of blocks 34140
last block time Sun Oct 15 21:59:51 - so.. about 4 minutes ago?

I must be on the right chain... ?

- Also I turned those coins around and sent them back, they just arrived to my wallet.

After I started my node it went from pre_enabled to expired after 70 minutes. So I restarted the node and again after 70 minutes it went to expired. What do I need to do to resolve this?
