I have a feeling that digital currency will one day replace paper money because of the technological advancements that we keep making. People barely carry money nowadays and use cards so one day it will get to a point were there is no paper money.

I think only to certain extent, as it is happening now
I mean Bitcoin for instance can be used in many shopping malls, cafes, etc. But cash is used as well.

Yes, bitcoin will soon replace paper money. paper money replaces gold last 100 years ago. thus, now is time for the bitcoin.
100 years ago we did transact using objects such as gold, silver, and animals but after entering the modern era or industry we also use the money. money itself has the meaning of the symbol of a country so I do not think it possible if the digital currency will replace paper money which as we know digital currency can only be used in some places that provide technology and signal machine as a tool to transact but by using paper money we can use it anywhere and anytime

Have you seen the movie *In Time* 2011 year. I'm pretty sure that we will have a chip in our skin that is connected to the blockchain network, so we will have the currency, may be crypto. Just like a time. SO that's a movie prediction.
We will pay for everything with out hand, or may be just like a bracelet, what is more real ( or just closer by the time to us). What if, the bracelet will gain the energy from the body, so you don't have to charge this device or a chip.
So the paper money will be replaced soon in high developed countries.

I can see cryptocurrencies replacing physical or paper currency within the next five years all over the world
Beyond the noise and the press releases the overwhelming majority of people – even bankers, consultants, scientists, and developers – have a very limited knowledge about cryptocurrencies. They often fail to even understand the basic concepts.

I definitely believe that the popularity of digital currencies will only increase with the time, as it becomes more and more convenient to use.

Personally I say yes as our society becomes increasingly dependent upon technology, digital currency will become a more popular means of paying for different things and it is more effective and instant. I haven't used much physical money in the past 8 years and I rarely had any problems with that.

What do you guys think? Wink

It will be widely use, but it will not replace the paper. Its impossible even. You have to considered every aspect on how a digital currency will work or be useful. Not in everywhere there's electricity, internet connection. Not everyone have a device or equipment for it. Yes, some of us have not use the physical money to transact in a while, but you always have it in your pocket. Smiley

Maybe one day will be like that, the ease of making us turn to the technology of the future. At this time Now may have many who use digital payments. Already received bitcoin as payment. but if you replace money maybe not, not everything can use digital money let alone in my country. regulation will also definitely limit it.

Although it can be possible but not so easy, the reason is that that still a lot of people do not have any idea about bitcoin, I think it will take more than half century. In backward countries people even do not have internet facility therefore they cannot get access to internet. The second reason is bitcoin is still in its very early stage and even most of the people know about it but still they do not want to trust and invest a big amount of money there or to start using bitcoin like fiat currency. The third reason is that still in most of the area people do not have the facility to use bitcoin in their local area because still most of the shopkeepers do not accept bitcoin.

Due to the development of technology nowadays, it is not impossible that paper money will soon be replaced by digital currency. As people always seek easier ways to do something to save time and energy, there will always be a chance to this kind of replacement. These days, more and more people are doing transactions through mobile payment. Not only because it is easier but also faster. But,  there are still old-fashioned people who preferred paper money over any kind of digital currency. So this replacement may take time to happen.

Well, for me, it won't. Regular and cryptocurrency including Bitcoin are different feon their uses and how they function. Regular currencies are the basis of the market value of Bitcoin so I see no use of replacing it not only because i think it is really impossible. Digital currenciws indeed has advantages but surely, regular also does.

Humanity will never have airplane  if we've thoughts categorical - people are not birds and never will fly! But Lufthansa shows we can) So my answer is assets  can have a lot of variants!

You only need to comparison the ability of Bitcoin to using without internet and paper money, you can know the reason Bitcoin can not replace paper money. No internet, no Bitcoin, this is the rule and no one can changes it, because no one can makes Bitcoin to use offline without paper.

I don't think crypto as a whole will remove fiat in our system at all. There are prerequisites to make digital transactions possible and poor countries does not have that so they still need to rely on paper money.

Even if this happens, it will happen very, very soon, and bitcoin is unlikely to be allowed to do it, the struggle for the place will be tough Undecided

Once a point comes in which you're able to use a debit card-like system for crypto transactions, like what Bitcoin Cash and ELTCOIN are trying to do, then I believe we will begin to see a mass adoption of crypto. Another problem is that many people still dislike using online banking systems, so attempting to get these people to adopt a purely digital currency will be difficult.
Yeah bitcoin continue in its way and there is no second opinion in this that bitcoin is now the most trustable and secure coin so why not to switch the current currency system on bitcoin people are getting benefits from it why not whole world to get In so that everyone can enjoy the same profit and this will happen that people will demand to use bitcoin as currency and this will happen in coming 2 to 3 years.

Digital currency can never replace Paper money.
In the real world, its not easy to buy physical things  with digital currency.
it can replace paper money on the internet where it was born but not in our real world.

in near future if all goes according to plan it should replace all currency , or should I say become main currency as you mentioned technology rules the planet, and its rapidly advancing in past few years anyway good side of it that it would make payment's and transactions easier and no need to carry unhygienic money, bad things it will ruin governments since they can't control how much people earn plus they don't get dime from it in short therms this will mean switch of poor and rich (as we know bankars control world, and if btc becomes world wide currency it would make something like new world order). I'll keep it short change is coming to this planet and whole world will feel it.
