If there will be no new features and only merging Zcash changes that Zcash and every other Zcash clone also have, then why would people use this over the others?
great question, who will answer it?

From the Slack channel, a great response by rizzman1000
[rocketchat] <rizzman1000> APP 6:38 PM

@frederick (1 of 3) For me, there are a lot of things that I can see being distinct... 1. Foremost is the scarcity issue. All these coins that you mentioned are currently well over $100 just for 1 denomination of currency. This is primarily due to the level of scarcity people have built into other coins due to max supply of only a few million, when we have 5 billion people in the world today. Bitcoin, LTC, Monero, Zcash, ETH, etc... will NEVER be adopted fully for this reason... the currency needs to be within reach of the working poor / middle class for it to be truly useful for things such as buying a gallon of milk, or a cup of coffee.   and I am sorry but nobody within this socioeconomic strata are going to sit and try to calculate "do I spend" .0001 LTC for my cup of coffee, or is it .0001?"  - Nobody is going to do that. Now, with BTCZ, there is a 21 billion coin supply, so in a theoretical scenario, every person on earth today could have at least 4 coins each assuming all things equal. because of this amount we will never see this coin going to $20k per coin, but $3.00 per coin is a very real possibility in the long term future. which at this point, buying a gallon of milk would cost approx 1 BTCZ

@frederick (2 of 3) ... Currently, the only other coins that have any kind security or lets just say, Privacy are Zcash, Monero , Zencoin, or Hush.... without going into the details regarding premines / support / founders fees the biggest distinction that can be made is for adoption feasibility. You say we support anarchy, I completely disagree with this and here is an examples why. Do you realize that everything you buy with a credit card / debit card is tracked by Big data for credit agencies? furthermore did you know that those same agencies are drawing a conclusion of your creditworthiness based off what you buy on daily basis? This is huge... for example, one of the biggest known indicators that a person is credit worthy is if they buy cup coasters?.... Insane right? But happens!, This is literally being used to decide, how much you will make (if your job looks at credit) or if you can own a house, or how much you get charged for credit.... all of this matters because currently you have no real good options to transfer money without big data seeing what your doing and forming opinions about you in the process. Other than walking around briefcases full of money for any major transactions you make, and even still they are going to want to know what you are using it for when you withdraw it. THIS is a big reason why you need and should demand privacy.

@frederick (3 of 3) Lastly, Perhaps the most biggest things about this coin is that its not distinct in that it is following the same path of development as Bitcoin, and LTC.. There is no premine, no ICO, no central development authority... Yet you still have so many people stepping forward to do things to make it easier, and more useful to use. This is what ultimately will make this coin great, Not whitepapers, or well known devs... but because any developers out there can bring an idea forward and revolutionize the entire project... This is the ultimate strength of the project, and because of this it will continue to grow. I hope this helps with your concerns.

bitcoinz-pod team roadmap for 2018
  • Follow stable zcash/bitcoin core updates / no new features other than Zcash changes are planned by bitcoinz-pod team
 Zcash roadmap for 2018: https://z.cash/blog/roadmap-update-2017-12.html
Zcash Sets Roadmap for Blockchain Upgrades in 2018
Core features planned by Zcash in 2018:
- further upgrade zcash's performance, security, and usability
- improvements in privacy transactions
- smart contracts
Note: BitcoinZ will always have POW core client.

Near term goals:
- release 1.1.2 - stable version of zcash 1.0.13 merge, new checkpoints, collect all volunteers seeders and full nodes list to not have problems with connections
- publicly available testnet nodes + seeders
- upgrade bitcoinz-win to latest zcash version

Note that we have many teams. All teams may have different goals and roadmaps Smiley

If there will be no new features and only merging Zcash changes that Zcash and every other Zcash clone also have, then why would people use this over the others?

To say that there will be no new features is simply premature. Will we be forking Zcash's updates? hell yes we will because simply put... the tech just works. But as for unique tech additions, just as Bitcoin did back in the early days, there was little to no feature enhancements done to the base code in the beginning. Primarily because it takes time to attract talented devs to adopt the project and to bring new ideas to life. Luckily, we already have a couple groups working in cells to come up with new and exciting things to do with the coin. But again it all takes time.

As for your question regarding what distinguishes this coin from other shitcoins? There's a couple of things: The biggest distinguishing factor between this coin and any other "clone" is that interest is growing steadily in the project. Just sit in the slack / discord channel a couple of days and you will find a lot of new people are interested in the project and we are steadily gaining momentum with average day users and technical individuals alike. For a project that is less than 7 months old this is well on its way.

One of the major distinctions is the 21 billion supply, which makes it actually attainable and usable by the working poor / middle class - Unlike Zcash, LTC, or any of the other "well known" ALT currencies - where 1 coin would cost you an entire months electricity, water bill, and phone bill just to own 1 coin, This is where all the well known coins are failing where this coin is and always will be readily accessible to the masses because of the supply being high enough to keep the price reasonable.

One thing that history has proved is you don't need the the newest, and greatest technology to be successful in this world, it just needs to be simple, widely accessible, and has to fill a need. Of which, this coin has the potential to do all 3 with just the tech that's out there today. Furthermore, the fact that there is no one centralized group of devs, and instead is comprised of small pods of developers all working on different facets of improvement, It should not be surprising to see long periods of low progress followed by short periods of massive improvements leading to parabolic moves in both interest in the project and value.

Ultimately, it is your decision as to whether or not to give this coin you time/cpu cycles/ hard earned money, but speaking from one of the original BTC holders that missed the boat the first time around and also as a holder of BTCZ. I believe in it, contribute to the community,  and see that others do as well. For me its not a question of if but a question of when.

In the meantime, I

Mine. Hold. Wait

I agree that the current volatile price of Bitcoin accompanied by such high transaction fee and network congestion is starting to show its limitation to be adopted as a wide spread currency.

bitcoinz-pod team roadmap for 2018
  • Follow stable zcash/bitcoin core updates / no new features other than Zcash changes are planned by bitcoinz-pod team
 Zcash roadmap for 2018: https://z.cash/blog/roadmap-update-2017-12.html

If there will be no new features and only merging Zcash changes that Zcash and every other Zcash clone also have, then why would people use this over the others?

This is bitcoinz-pod team roadmap. We are going to provide stable software versions of BitcoinZ network clients - you can compare that to Debian in Linux space.

This is decentralized coin - of course we can have more teams developing its own Unix clients which will be compatible with current BitcoinZ network. They can add more fancy features. You can compare that to Ubuntu, Kubuntu in Linux space - all are based on stable Debian core.

We have the best tech on the market which is Zcash tech. The most important is decentralization.
There is no CORE team in this project.
This coin is only 3 months old. The level of decentralization we achieved so far is huge folks:
- full nodes around the world
- 30+ pools
- many dev teams and contributors - we all are volunteers
- many websites
- many sources of interaction: slack, telegram, discord, forums, fb groups
- decentralized funding managed independently by other team
There are also many things to be improved to be fully decentralized.

On the top of fair launch & fair principles we are able to build the future.
And remember what we are doing here is we are decentralizing truth.

An interesting topic, only alarming that some problems with a wallet are noticed. And yet I like the idea of the project.

I don't understand the security system. After reading the whitepaper, there wasn't any mention of this security system. I see

Code:
t1c6bSUPjm9h1RAJ71p9YeXCyMbMw8gXPAk 5067.55656366 BTCZ > t1c6bSUPjm9h1RAJ71p9YeXCyMbMw8gXPAk 5066.55646366 BTCZ (U)

to the same address and my final balance is 380528 instead of 385595. The address I sent to got 1 BTCZ. When I sent something from my address, I expected that amount + fee to be deducted, not random amounts.
