CONTINUATION OF OLD COIN.
Original OP (2013) here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=325735.0
Telegram:  https://t.me/DatacoinX

What is Datacoin (DTC)?
Data is stored in the blockchain forever and can be retrieved using a transaction hash as an identifier.
Datacoin is a platform that can be used by applications such as torrent trackers, encrypted messaging services,
and can be used to store other kinds of small data - all censorship-free.
Developers can store torrent files, certificates, computer programs, HTML pages and other kinds of meta-information
in the Datacoin blockchain.
Windows users can use a GUI wallet, Linux users should compile datacoind or Datacoin-QT from source (see instructions).
Wallets are in development, and more features are coming soon, but the wallet’s current functionality is similar to other coins.

Coin Specs
Primecoin-fork: same PoW method
Fast transactions, 1 minute between blocks
Total supply of 2,000,000,000 coins  (approx 28 000 000 mined so far)
Data transactions EZ Flash IV - revolutionary feature for storing data

As it is block chain tech, is everybody able to read all the data which is saved on the chain?
Also are there any pools open, where I can mine the coin?

Pool:  https://dtc.graymines.net.  You can also do solo-mining in the wallet:  go to console and type "setgenerate true".

Using a browser like DTC browser or Apertus you can read what is in the chain.

Now is an ideal time to begin mining, with the current low difficulty you can still get a decent amount of coins per day with a single cpu instance

This one should be great, having our data stored in a save place and also there is related with digital coins at the same time.
I think this is a great combination.

I have sent an email to the Coinomi team to see if we can add Datacoin to their Android wallet.

I understand that Android wallets are light clients, and that they will run the datacoin daemon on their servers - basically the same as an exchange.

This is an example of them adding IXCoin:  https://github.com/Coinomi/coinomi-android/commit/0be43f98f88041adf91ef8f3adfc703caa7d181b

Any thoughts/ideas/criticism of this idea is most welcome.

And privacy, who guarantees that your data will actually be saved and privacy? Well, I'm not criticizing the project, more privacy is above all else.

Our first goal now is just to get it listed on an exchange.  I have no idea what the market will do to the price.

If you can tolerate the informality, I have an MXE cross-compiled Windows binary available. All I had time for was to check that it runs on a Windows 10 VM, mind you. And I couldn't manage to successfully compile the qrencode facility, so I had to disable it pro tem.

There's no restriction on what is stored, if you wish to store encrypted data for maximum opacity. Data is saved when the block is mined, for a fee. It's a transaction, subject to the usual rules pertaining to transactions.
