I really really want to find out how easy it is to migrate Datacoin to the 0.16, 0.17 and 0.18 Bitcoin Core and Namecoin Core wallets. My understanding is that the coin specific parameters and the mining algorithm are isolated in files that are easy to edit with the particulars of another coin. If that is the case, it should be a valuable skill for us to learn.
I have been following the Gab/Brave/Keybase saga, and I think we should be able to put Datacoin into the same browser and chat program. I also find Alexandria (with Florincoin) to be interesting.

I love the idea of a censorship-resistant storage space on a blockchain, but I have few questions: - Are the files stored in the blockchain? if so, does it mean that the blockchain size will dramatically increase fairly quickly?
- If that's the case, does it mean that each node will have to store GB and GB of content posted since the beginning of Datacoin?
- Are files encrypted on the blockchain?
Thank you!

Yes, not so much as the upload file size is limited, however, answer is still yes.
Yes, however, the uploaded file is compressed resulting in a smaller file but still each node will have to store all of the information on the block chain.
Yes and no, you need to encrypt and password protect your files before publication on the block chain if your require encryption and protection otherwise the file is accessible to anyone with the transaction id.
I am working on three things at this time, the first, to complete the in wallet block explorer provided by Graham Higgins. The second is an in wallet file publisher for publishing files on the block chain, keep a record of transactions id's of all published files from the wallet as well as transactions id's of third party files that was retrieved with the wallet and the retrieval system to download and decompress file for access. The last is similar to the the second, however, a web based system.

Hi Team! Just a reminder that we are maintaining the Datacoin Testnet for any experimentation you wish to do. The static IP location is --> 108.161.137.90:4776 We are using the Verionum version 0.15.99-08 How to run a Testnet: - Create a shortcut to Datacoin, then rightclick on the shortcut, now click properties.
Then in properties in the Target field on the far right, add a space then put -testnet in there. Run it, then you add the nodes via clicking the Help tab > Debug window > Console > then in the console at the bottom put addnode 108.161.137.90:4776 add
Note that we are running a very low powered machine to keep Testnet running -- a few more Testnet miners would be wise for it to run more optimally -- please do if you can. Also remember there is a Mainnet block explorer here: In addition, just so there isn't any confusion in the future: We are mining Datacoin to use as an archival tool, and also as a possible means of revenue source in the future. Our goal to to make Datacoin more convenient and strong for the user, and valuable for the investor -- as we are literally both. We are mining with many machines right now, and when it gets too warm here to mine, we will be buying. Our coffers have about 1.5 million datacoin at present, and will continue to grow. Our interests are simply to provide tools to immutably archive information on blockchains, and provide a revenue source to fund these activities. Cypherpunk blockchains are an ideal tool for these activities, and Datacoin is one of them. Note that this is the lowest we've seen Datacoin difficulty in a very long time, and it is the lowest price we've ever seen period. The argument in the future that there are people with large amounts with Datacoin, and how that is "unfair," is officially moot. You can be one of these large holders literally right now. During the dips some of us stuck around and ran machines to keep the network alive, and were rewarded by the network in more Datacoin. That's how Cypherpunk blockchains work. Those that also chose to buy the dips also maintained the network by helping out miners that needed to sell to literally pay bills, these investors are rewarded with large amounts of Datacoin for the future. Again, that's how Cypherpunk blockchains work. Cypherpunk blockchains reward the players in the game -- this is literally game theory -- and yes that's by design. Datacoin has been around for awhile now -- if people actively choose to ignore it now, then they can't complain about the large holders in the future when it comes of age. The network was designed to reward adopters -- but note that bodes well for the network, as it locks in the interest of that investor who is encouraged to then invest even more into the network -- again, basic game theory, and by Cypherpunk design. You can be apart of it, or choose not to be apart of it, but just remember that choosing later does not give you the right to chastise the early adopters who kept it literally alive during many cryptowinters. We are in one now -- you can choose to be apart of Datacoin now We are excited to see ongoing Datacoin work and are doing everything we can to keep the light on, and hopefully soon enter into more development. Kindest Regards, The DataSea

As long as it's going to be afloat. You can't expect anyone to be enthusiastic, when freiex has a price fixed at 4-5 sats . Besides dunno, who is active here now as developer. @gjhiggins seemed to be busy with other things, and others? I really don't know... Besides network is too weak for pure PoW, it should fork to be AuxPoW or PoW/PoS, because it's totally unsecure now, and easily double-spended - otherwise it's really risking to be attacked (especially when it attain some value and trading volume/liquidity).

Someone is throwing some serious mining power into this. Diff went down a little yesterday and is now skyrocketing up again. Good to see there is still intrest in this.

Yes I noticed, for istance, blocks # 2959473, 2959470, 2959467, 2959446, 2959438, 2959431, 2959430, 2959428 It started on 2019-06-03 03:25:28 UTC If you go to https://www2.bytestamp.net/blocks/index and put 2959281 into Starting block for list: Textbox, you can see that blocks #2959276 and #2959277 were mined at 2019-06-03 04:04:02 UTC, before block #2959278 (2019-06-03 03:29:17 UTC) Now it is stabilized Maybe someone with great hash power was start mining, and this someone should have system clock not properly set?

Hmmm, that sure fits some evidence, but can a clock on a computer really do that? The evidence of a large miner entering is certainly true, as the difficulty quickly grew at that point. Anyone else have any theories? I saw that too sampei, very strange. There was two actually -- one happened after that as well. Have you seen it since?

Website, no But if it does matter there is the ruby script ByteStamp did for the municipality of Naples. It is a script to vote on the blockchain for a citizen referendum. The script itself is saved on the blockchain so it can be verified by third parties and cannot be changed. So, if an Authority says: "the script at this transaction is ok", every voter can trust the script recorded in that transaction. It was made in October 2018, as you can see from the block confirmation time. It's only in Italian and only for linux, sorry. Instructions: 1) install Datacoin full node. Tested with v0.1.2.0dtc-hp11-unk-beta. 2) download all the blockchain 3) install ruby ver 2.4.2 You can use RVM ( http://rvm.io/), then do rvm install 2.4.2 and rvm use 2.4.2 4) install ruby gems : gem install gtk3 gem install fileutils gem install json gem install base64 5) make an empty dir and cd into: mkdir votobc cd votobc 6) exec the script directly from the blockchain: datacoind getdata a1d413ad368b22274bcec6af50fb0e6a8de19e4efa2250d54f8955b50b7b3776|xargs -I XX ruby -e "require %q[base64]; File.open( 'votobc', 'w') { |f| f.puts Base64.decode64 %q[XX] }" && ruby votobc && rm votobc To vote you have to charge the wallet of some datacoins

I was thinking something like Namecoin dns -> ?? (something to track DTC nodes?? maybe ETH contract??) -> Website data on DTC blockchain. I've been trying to think of ways to leverage DTC lately and it seems like it could be used for a completely decentralized, completely anonymous website?

Yes, I completely agree. With a Datacoin DNS system you could run websites that nobody would be able to take down. Perhaps possible to copy the Namecoin DNS system into the Datacoin wallet? -extro

Perhaps if the code was modified to make it more user friendly in Datacoin it might be popular.

Hi, Please be advised that the domain datacoin.tk will most likely cease to exist or be removed from my control in 90 days time due to ongoing issues with the .tk registrar. This situation was partially resolved twelve months ago when I had an opportunity to move the domain name from the free space to a paid domain. Ever since then it became impossible to retain any of the domain names under my control. You are requested to move your coins from the online wallet https://www.datacoin.tk/wallet/ if you are one of the 129 account holder with a positive balance. The Datacoin node will remain online and will still be accessible via the IP address and therefore access to the online wallet accounts will also be available, however, that will be without SSL access. I will most likely make the online wallet available should a suitable domain name become available in the .org domain space - any suggestions are welcome. Thank you, Hamburger
