The only thing that can destroy bitcoin is the government. If the governments will have agreement to each other that they are going to ban bitcoin then the people will have no choice but to obey to the order of the government and they will just ban it and that will become the reason or cause for bitcoin to get destroy.

I do not know for sure who will destroy the btc, unless there is a fellowship of big countries to devastate it, it might have a big impact. but in fact major countries are still using btc and there is no strong prohibition evenly in each country.

I think, the one who can destroy the Bitcoin is the people. Bitcoin is made by the people, for the people. And for that purpose, government cannot touch the Bitcoin system and control it. So, if the people stop using Bitcoin what will happen ? Or, if the people mine the Bitcoin until the last drop, what will happen ? Yes, people can destroy Bitcoin, but also can repair it. The future of technology is in the hand of the people.

I think that can destroy bitcoin is a person who participates to bitcoin itself ,, just as bitcoin will be destroyed if bitcoin users use it to do evil, then the world will see that bitcoin is bad in the eyes of the world, then also the mining beyond the boundary can lower the value of bitcoin currency ,,

Not even governments, tbh.  They can try banning it but it won't work, gambling is banned in the US, and most of gamblers belong to the US, hell drugs and porn is also banned in so many countries, but did people stop doing such things, no. And bitcoin is nothing when compared to these.

My view is that it cannot be destroyed it values varies but will never be to null so getting into such debate is not helpful nothing has power to destroy such a profitable and such a benefit giving investment/business. People believe in it and they praise it as a blessing. And those who will ban it will lag in development and progress of economy.

For me bitcoin can be destroy buy other coins, government, and company that will not accept bitcoin. But for now, bitcoin is growing and more people are discovering, believing, accepting and learning how to use, gain and earn bitcoin. in my opinion, that can destroy bitcoin is government and state. if the government and the whole country make bitcoin illegal, then bitcoin will be constrained by a drastic price reduction. but vice versa if btc is legalized the price soared sharply upwards.

This is old question, and there are older threads that have same question in headline. I'm not surprised that this question is still have a lot of attention from people, some of you are new here and you wish to know what can destroy bitcoin.
There are many theories what can destroy bitcoin and from all of them I liked just one and that is new technology. Today blockchain represents innovation, but technology made more progress in past 20 years then in 100 before, and what can we expect to happen in 20 years from now? If something new appear that can move bitcoins on second place. What am I talking about is visible, do you know what is mining rig and did you ever saw one? Who knew about thisbthinfs 5 years ago? What will they invent in next 50 years? Think about this.

In my own opinion, the only people who can only destroy bitcoin is the government because they are the one who gives orders and the one who makes the rules or the law which we need to follow. Thats why they can destroy bitcoin for a long term.

Not even governments can destroy bitcoin, what are they going to do? Ban bitcoin? That is not going to work look at the war on drugs and the failure it has been, they cannot seize bitcoin there are thousands of nodes with a copy of the blockchain, if they tried to destroy the nodes a lot more will emerge as counter measure, if they try to block bitcoin traffic then the devs will find a way to disguise it.

The only way in which Bitcoin can be destroyed is the  reduction in its demand.The demand can be reduced by two factors.One factor is if the government of all the countries declare transactions through Bitcoin as illegal then it will surely have a adverse effect on its demand. The other factor can be if some other form of cryptocurency replaces Bitcoin.The demand will be shifted  and the price of Bitcoin will drop down.

Bitcoin's current value is 4200$ which is near about 10 times  to the value of any other altcoin and it is still increasing at a very fast rate. So i dont think that Bitcoin can be destroyed.It is the time for Bitcoin to rise and to achieve its All Time High Value.

If another cryptocuurency arise and more advance than bitcoin I think it can destroy bitcoin but not that no one will use bitcoin it can be decrease the amount of people who use bitcoin if they see that there is more powerful than btc it's quite ironic that because of bitcoin it can destroy itself.

According to me, bitcoin can't be a local currency because it is a completely decentralized currency which makes it away from taxation and the reach of government. All other local currency are been centralized and managed by the particular government but, bitcoin is a free currency and has no limit on the price. Even bitcoin has such a huge price because it is a decentralized currency. If it was been centralized then it would have been some price limitations for it and it would have been proven a bad thing about bitcoin.
