This is one of the biggest drawback of bitcoin and trading. No electricity means everything stops, You just simply can't access to the world what is bigger problem then no electricity is no Internet, government has the full right to stop the internet service under National Security and then you will be kept away from your money and trading and it can cause great loss to one's wealth. New technology have great advantages but also come with drawbacks with them.

Honestly, if the entirety of the internet went down, I feel like there would be more crucial problems than Bitcoin transactions. One major part would be international contacting. Countries would have a hard time contacting each other; This would be the first problem of the lack of Internet. How the lack of network ties to Bitcoin would probably be a drop in price due to a lack of transactions.

This area is up for grabs! PM me if you're interested.

All depends on what you term electricity supply, because electricity could be publicly supply and privately supply on individual bases. If the electricity is supply by the government and such disaster happen in a community and there is no alternative, it then mean that trading maybe unlikely to take place in such an environment. Trading can take place in such environment only when you have your private Generator that supply power to your house.

We hear in the news that many people in countries that have currency issues are starting to trade in BTC - for example, Venezula.

My friend asked me what about in regions where they lose electricity, how would they trade with BTC?

For example Puerto Rico is right now devastated by the hurricane, and many parts of its region don't have electricity.  A lot of people need to buy food and even fresh water.

Is there a way to still trade with BTC in such situations?

Can P2P trade still occur despite having any connection to the greater block-chain network?  Keep in mind that it's easy to charge mobile phone so they have access to wallet apps, but probably not the Internet.

I don't know too much about mobile data networks, but I doubt one's 4G/LTE data plan would work in such situations.  I assume that data would have to be relayed to a tower/dish before it's sent to satellites.  Am I correct?
With the second to the last paragraph you mentioned, there is absolutely no way you can do any trading or transaction without the network. However, if there is network, and the electricity is not completely bad, you can just use your smartphone or laptop since they have batteries you can use before your power company restores. However, in those areas you are mentioning, with the disasters, transaction will absolutely be the last thing on your mind.

You are right, i agree with you. If you don have energy and internet connection then nothing will work, no cash machine, atm and so on. It would be like in the ancient days and we will trade a cheese blockchain in stead of bitcoin. As long as the sunn is in the sky and the wind blows there is no real threat in long terms.

it's certainly not
electricity and internet connection both of them are necessary if you want to do bitcoin trade and if you're don't have it then almost impossible to trade although you trade with your smartphone but these gadget had limited power supply and have to recharge eventually electricity will being mandatory too

For me if there's no electricity we can use solar for it which is we can charge our devices using it .so there's no reason that we stop to trade because of that reason. But if the reason is both there's no electricity and Internet in our area will i am agree with that .  But i think We need to find a place that have a internet access instead of making predictions that there are no internet access also because there are no electricity will that's not true cause as i know all of the sources of internet using generators on their towers if there's a brown out on the area like here in Philippines they using generators but i dont know in neither places if they use generators. haha that's all i know so there's no reason that can stop you to trade with btc in this generation cause we are all in high-tech.

To face your problems, you could activate your mobile data's for you to have internet connection and sp you could do trading or if you dont  have any prepaid load for mobile data, you could trade in another day because there is no other chance to have a internet connection.

It is one of the problems with bitcoin but it is also a problem with most currencies. If all electricity ceased to work, USD or any other currency would not be accepted at its usual value, in any major crisis the value of any currency would greatly decrease as goods are far more valuable. It would be interesting if there are any solutions of how to use bitcoin offline.

You can't complete cryptocurrency transactions without internet service. If a large area loses electricity like Puerto Rico, they not only lose internet, but more important things like lights, refrigerators, cell phone service.  We depend on electricity for almost everything. Cryptocurrencies can't do as well in third world countries either because of lack of technology. But the same is true for many other technologies like email, television, banking, etc. Some parts of world will not have access to these advances.

Without electricity or/and Internet connection there is no possibility to trade with Bitcoin. That's obvious because using Bitcoin need to be connected (and of course having electricity) to access your wallet or the sites supporting Bitcoin.

No electricity is a hard situation since we have been used to it. But if that is the case make sure to take care of your family and dont mind trading for a while. If you are concerned about buying foods without your bitcoin, well that is hard if you have no money in your wallet. So i believe you have a good neighbor and friends who can lend you some and who has a generator for you to withdraw some

Indeed, i don't think that there is any chance for the electricity to get lose because if we are going to run out of electricity then all of the aspects in our world will be damaged like businesses, banks and a lot more. Electricity will continue to go on even there will be disasters in our world but it is impossible for us to run out since a lot of things are backing the electricity like the alternative to get electricity.

What do you mean no electricity? Now this does not happen. All equipment runs through electricity. Temporary crash can stop trading for bitcoin but without electricity would not work all your devices. In any case, you will have to stop trading. Modern man will die of starvation if you do not work refrigerators. Life without electricity is not possible.

If there's a natural disaster cutting off electricity for days, trading bitcoin should be least of your worries really. Priorities man.

sorry I meant to say, how does one trade with BTC

ie. how does one buy food/water with BTC in such circumstances if BTC is the most preferred currency for trade (like Venezuela)

you do the same thing as you do when you have no electricity and a POS machine and want to accept credit cards!

it is really the same thing. we are living in a modern age and we rely on these modern stuff like electricity and even internet to be able to function well. if electricity goes out the shop only accepts cash so you can't purchase anything unless you are carrying cash around, and who does that these days ? eh?

Everything in bitcoin is powered by electricity and if it was not present then we can say that it will be useless. One of the fundamentals to produce a bitcoin is by means of electricity and Internet and these is the special aspects on it. I think without these things operation or transaction cannot be occur because these things serves as the path to continue the flow of any kind of businesses that pertains to bitcoin. For the future dilemma like this I think we must find another way to not continue using BTC even if there is no electricity.

The simple answer is: you don't.
For a transaction to be validated you need to send it over the network. And this needs electricity and connection.

Agreed. Even if your mobile phone is battery charged, you may not be able to connect to the internet (network) so you can't. Therefore it is still good practice to keep some cash with you, so in times of disaster and you need basic commodities, you can easily buy if stores and stocks are available.
