Hello. I am new to Bitfinex. I am verified and have otp authentication. I wired money in and it was there in less than 24 hours. (which is awesome) I bought bitcoins this morning and transferred them to a wallet But, hours later it says "pending approval" I thought withdrawals of btc were instant. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? thanks
Maybe their hot wallet is empty, they are probably still working on replenishing it. Instant withdrawals are actually a security/convenience tradeoff. I would guess that it should be fixed until tomorrow, if not even tonight. That could kind of suck if one done a btc withdrawal during Volatility ! Having to wait all that time that is while the market is swinging, whew !

Probably at least to display them in the payout overview... if you send BTC via the RPC command you get back the TXID. The fact that you are not supposed to log that at all since it is meaningless and NOT an "ID number" for a "transaction" but merely something that might reappear (or not) on the block chain at some point maybe eventually is not made very clear at the very least. Anyways, I bought some more cheap coins, happy to unload these suckers once people realize that this is just an annoyance but nothing more. At least it's Tuesday so no weekend shifts for the backend devs.

If so, then people could continue to withdrawal BTC they don't have.

Raphael already said that they don't. They display it in their withdrawals overview though, depending on how they get that ID it might be the case that the TXID displayed there is wrong. I would expect them to check mined blocks though and only display TXIDs that show up in there. Safer that way.

No, what he said was that he believe that MtGox's problem was "an internal MtGox issue". It was not even clear that Raphael even understood the problem. I mean, it's hard to a imagine an exchange accounting system that *doesn't* use transaction ID to ID transactions as their primary database key. Stamp seems to have been caught off-guard. In any case, Bitfinex is still impacted because they have coins locked on the Stamp platform now. Bitfinex support should be releasing a statement of some kind (assuming anyone is awake).

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=229438.msg5061590#msg5061590One last thing: we are not impacted by the problem of Bitcoin withdrawals MtGox have. When a withdrawal seems to have failed, we use the bitcoin address to do a manual double check. So far this is not an issue. I hope he revisits the issue and also the solution MtGox proposed actually IS a reasonable one and would be nice to have (and more useful as an actual TransactionID rather than the current TXID), let's hope people stop the flaming and this stuff gets into bitcoind asap.

(assuming anyone is awake).
this is starting to be a nice running gag Nevertheless I really think that the Bitfinex team handled the recent flash crash quite well. Keeping the lenders millions of $ safe should be the top priority, because only this enables us traders to use the advantages of margin trading.

I placed some limit-buy orders on the Exchange.
After placing four orders that used up around 60% of my money (if they execute), it says that I have run out of money. I also have three market sell orders for BTC that I already have on the exchange.
I've sent support an email.

We can't seem to get a break these days: flash crashes, phishing, malleability attacks ... Good luck Bitfinex team! May the next week bring you more sleep .

Anyone else getting a "Pending Approval" for their withdraws?
Possibly the hot wallet is depleted and needs to be replenished?

same here, can't sell any amount though I have enough btc not tied to an order (if there even is such thing). edit: cancelled some other sell orders and even then, nothing. All btc gone from bitstamp because of the wall guy a few hours back? You definitely need twitter for quick updates and announcements, not everyone has the time to skim through this thread every day. But I guess you have other things to do right now

Same with me half an hour ago. used about 3 fifth of my funds for limit buy orders, then this message came "invalid order. not enough balance". Had this before already. Sent support email as well. Quite a strange bug … or they are hedging against something in their software without telling us. I don't have this every day and have tried various remedies, like deleting active orders and re-entering them, etc.

What's needed is an "Official Statement" regarding the Stamp situation, until then everyone is left guessing in the dark. As to if anyone is "Awake or Not" is irrelevant, one does not sleep when a crisis like this is at hand without "First" putting out an "Official Statement" to put out the fires: https://www.bitstamp.net/article/bitcoin-withdraws-suspended/
