Hi,

I wanted to test hive os with one of my assus b250 rig. Which has nvdia and mad cards. For nvdia works fine. But I am not able to control amd cards. Allways receive amd overclock failed message and some rx570 cards works only 5 mhs. When chech amd-info works very slow and shows only 300 mhz. But at the same rig, I can control nvidia cards without issue.

I hope sone one help me.

We don't recommend the ASUS B250 ME because as it stands, there are currently known issues with high LA caused by these boards on BIOS vers. 120x and up.
We're still waiting for official word from ASUS on the matter but this seems to affect AMD beyond a certain number of cards on these boards.
Any version prior to 120x seem to be working fine.

As for your specific issue, check what the LA is at because it sounds to me like the rig is tilting. If that's the case, you're most likely affected by the same issue.

A workaround is to power-cycle the rig(instead of shutting down or restarting, note that this is to be done EVERY time) or connect fewer cards (some board take up to 5, some take up to 6).

Also, ensure that your BIOS settings are set correctly:

Advanced\PCH Configuration\PCI Express Configuration -> PCIe Speed -> Gen 2
Advanced\System Agent (SA) Configuration\PEG Port Configuration -> PCIEX16_1 Link Speed -> Gen 2

I think hiveos user numbers quite low. Last 12 hours no body reply.
This is not true. There are a lot of HiveOS users, they just don’t spend time on forums and enjoy life while their rigs running HiveOS bring them money )))

You can join HiveOS Telegram channel for fast answers from comminity - https://t.me/hiveoschat_en
or
visit HiveOS forum - https://forum.hiveos.farm
or
write to HiveOS official support - bee@hiveos.farm

I'm having a problem with 1 set of rigs.
They are all AMD 12 gpu rigs with 4gig of ram and Celeron cpu on ASUS B250 expert MoBo. When they are rebooted the load skyrockets and slows the rig to a stop. If I unplug them they work normally at start, until they reboot again.
This does not happen on my 6 rigs on the a Biostar tb 250 with everything else the same.
Anyone has any idea why? Any suggestions?

This is a known issue with these boards. We're currently awaiting feedback from ASUS on the matter, but, we think it may be related to BIOS version. Anything above vers. 120x has this issue.
Boards with 1001 up to 1010 don't seem to be affected.

Thing is, you won't be able to rollback since they've ME locked it.

Please check your BIOS version and report back so I can send as much data to their guys testing this.

Thanks!

I'm on Version 1206 on all I think.

I run the same B250 board with 14 vegas and I have no problems unless I update Hive. Try reinstalling hive and do not update it, stay on version 0.6-01.

Which BIOS version? Cause we've tested this on 60+ boards and all show the same issue. The issue was seen on even lower (builds 0.5-xx)

I bought 3X Radeon VII GPU. Trying to use HiveOS Vega image(updated to latest version HiveOS),but giving error;

"OpenCL driver version 18.30-641594
No available GPUs for mining.Please check your drivers and/or hardware."

How can i fix that problem?

Regards...
Radeon VII support added from drivers v18.50 so you need higher driver version ... but better download Beta image which included it from the box

Let the status of the "Beta" version not confuse you this version is discussed by our users in several chat rooms devoted to testing and its work is extremely stable this moment.

Hi,

I haven' t seen this method before. Do I need unplug and plug when rig is running? or after shutdown unplug and plug?

Hi

I would like to write my test observation hiveos with Asus b250.

First, I hope to have hiveos on my b250 mining expert board. But until stable run, I need to use Windows.

8 Nvidia + 2 amd works stable.
8 Nvidia + 6 amd very unstable. At least 2 and cards randomly very low hash rate such as 4mhs.

If I increase and cards more than two, randomly low has rate on some amd cards start. Once time I had a stable 8 + 4 combination. But when I deal with autofan function rig restarted and again 2 amd cards start with low hash rates. When I unplug slot and plug some other slot it starts good until another booth. Before each new booth you need to change slot position of low performance and cards.

As I said, I like to have hiveos.  I hope developers will come with a solution.

What is my next step for this mother board.

I will flash original bios on to amd cards. Let's see with original bios result.

Any body has experience with original bios on Asus b250? Do you think that it would be helpful?

If I will have no good result, I will try ethos. I want to use any is other than Windows.

Best regards

Hi again

What I forget to mention. How can you understand your rig is unstable?

When you change of settings, you will have amd of failed message. Whenever you have not this error, your rig works good such as my test with 8 Nvidia + 2 amd

I am running 14 cards on this board on multiple rigs very stable. This is what I do: update the board bios to 1206.(there is a new 1207 version but I did not play with it just yet) Do not mix cards, either have nvidia or amd and flash there respective image on ssd. If you go nvidia update the driver "nvidia-driver-update" in hiveos and update to the latest version hive. If you go amd flash the vega image and do not update hive stay on version 6.01. If you want to use amdmemtweak you will need to compile it yourself from command line:
git clone https://github.com/Eliovp/amdmemorytweak
 cd amdmemorytweak/linux
 sudo apt-get install build-essential -y
 sudo apt-get update -y
 sudo apt-get install libpci-dev -y
 g++ AmdMemTweak.cpp -lpci -lresolv -o amdmemtweak
 rm /hive/sbin/amdmemtweak
 mv /home/user/amdmemorytweak/linux/amdmemtweak /hive/sbin/

The only cards I did not manage to run on a 14 card rig are the 1660/1660ti which is at 8 with the current nvidia drivers. As the nvidia drivers progressed I was able to go from 3 cards originally to 8 now.

I hope this helps, it is sure working for me, 15 rigs running and 30 more motherboards left on the shelf  Smiley (no video cards an power to fill them up)

Hi,
how pricing works ?
If in 1 month a rig is 50% on hiveos for standard mining and 50% other time on Windows, paying time on hiveos is one complete month ? Or pricing is only for running hiveos time ?
Thanks

Workers are billed each day, not by month.
Only active rigs in the past 24h will be billed. If the worker was online and we see it in stats it will be charged. If it was offline then it’s not counted. No need to deactivate it to stop billing.

Need to deploy hundreds or thousands of rigs with Hive OS?

Use Hive OS Deploy PXE for deployment over network, gaining complete control over the process and significantly reducing deployment time.

Learn how to achieve this with the HiveOS Deploy PXE Guide.
