generalizethis  what is  POC  for IOTA?

Proof Of Concept--it's basically a demo meant to show how a technology will work in the real world.

So for IOTA, https://data.iota.org/ would be a POC.

I don't  know  much about  POC.  Basically  how  does  it  work in a  sistem  where  there  is no  revenue  for  who is  running  a  Node?

In this case, the data marketplace is layered on IOTA's network and is used to send the data and the payment for the data. If you look, you can see that that the data sellers have a price listed in IOTA with their sensor listing.

With IOTA you have to get rid of the thought, that the node itself will give you any monetary benefit. Your node is just a catalysator for your business. Watch this PoC and think about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymbbM3WfPQc

Elaad NL will have nodes in each of these charging stations. The nodes don't make them any money. But the people who charge their cars their and pay with IOTA for the electricity make them money. They might make money even without having their own nodes in these stations, but to make the whole IOTA network work fast, stable and reliable, it's in their own best interest, to have these nodes in their stations. This is just a cost-benefit ratio decision. If the IOTA network works properly and the customers are satisfied with the service, they will make much more money than these nodes cost them in the end.

Think about smart homes. If you have some solar panels on your house and don't use all the electricity generated, you can just sell the spare electricity with IOTA. So you might think about setting up your own node, to help the network keep running smooth. The node is some extra cost (and work), but it assures, you will be able sell some electricity, which will make you even more money.

Manufacturers will likely install the software, have nodes available and offer a contract discount or buy the data outright. It makes little sense for a private citizen to go through the setup of a node for a few extra cents a month (electricity buybacks would likely be an exception as that could be in the 100s for some homes), but for a large corporation with a billion devices, it makes perfect sense to setup their own nodes. I think what lunchin misses is that governments and corporation want this data and will go out of their way to get it, especially if it will improve organizational performance and save trillions in global costs (note this is overall and not for one particular corporation/government/organization--sad, but lunchin makes reading comprehension errors like this and waste my time clearing them up).

Yes, sure. I just wanted to explain it in a more ELI5-way. In the end a lot of people will have/own nodes and might not be even aware of it Wink

That's still being looked into, since there are staff of UCL in the IF, it's weird that none were made aware of the breakup--the timing also is conveniently tied to a rehashed article on the DCI claims and the positive news of Hannover Messe, so it looks political if it wasn't a hack (neither would surprise me given how many billions in revenue are threatened by IOTA).

Thanks for sharing. I am fascinated about the possibilities the tangle provides. This is a really good example and its the first time I see text stored in the tangle (and even in good readable json format). One time "registration" in the blockchain and you are identifiable in every corner in the world without a passport or some other document, just having an internet connection. In the example the data is stored plain. I hope there will be an easy solution to encrypt the data with fingerprint for example.

Dollar cost averaging is always the smart way to accumulate a position, expecting to pick bottoms and tops is a fools game, you might be right occasionally,  but not every time, so eventually you lose your money

I'm sure that IOTA will bring big profits to investors, the developers are doing a great job and the partnerships are amazing.

Just hold for 2-3 years.

Was  UCL website  hacked?  If it  was hacked and  the hackers  spred  false FUD  this is  a  bullish signal

Was it hacked or the UCL  really don't  want to  collaborate  with IOTA?

FPGA hardware accelerator for Curl computation in IOTA cryptocurrency

http://www.innovatefpga.com/cgi-bin/innovate/teams.pl?Id=EM080

In this project we propose to create hardware accelerator for IOTA cryptocurrency transactions. IOTA allows making secure and authenticated quantum resistant channels between IoT devices for communication and micropayments with no fees. Hardware acceleration will allow to reduce transaction time and increase network throughput. FPGA implementation will be flexible enough to adapt for evolving standards, algorithmic methods, or security threats of young IOTA technology. As a result of the project we plan to run hardware accelerated IOTA node on Intel FPGA DE10-Nano board.

It could be possible given a longer timeline but it seems like it may have a hard time achieving that within 2018 because of all IOTA's new competitors.

Just take a look at byteball. Not saying this just because i am enrolled in their signature campaign, but the techonlogy seems to have improved. Also take a look at IOST. IOTA's development has been slow and competitors have started to catch up.

Utter BS. IOTA's development has ramped up recently and the lead has grown. Or have you not noticed Hannover Messe and Fujitsu pushing IOTA as an IOT standard. All I need to say about byteball is it has fees, now go shill it on your own thread you sig campaigning whore.

I've read recently that Sweden government is going to use IOTA technology for creating national crypto. You now, in Sweden there is only 15% of cash circulation, so digital money is on demand. This fact pushed me to buy IOTA , hope their product will change crypto space.
