Can Ethereum Really Overtake Bitcoin?

Nope, i really do not think so. Because even though bitcoin is going through a lot of issues right now, i still believe in it. Because it has proven itself worthy of my trust many times already by overcoming obstacles and emerging from them even better than before. Yes, ethereum has good qualities and great potential, i will give ethereum that, but not enough to be something worthy of comparing to bitcoin.

I think that with the current situation it is becoming more and more likely. I observe the market and I think it is the only crypto that can now be very close to Bitcoin. We'll see what happens next.

It is too difficult to imagine this situation. I guess this will never happen. Although Ethereum and Bitcoin are the best cryptocurrencies for now.

However, when even ETH capitalization increase rapidly, 1 ETH will cost less than 1 BTC.

One day bitcoin will either die a terrible death or become the new gold. I don't see any other in between for BTC, other cryptos do what BTC does so much better and without all the political infighting. Ethereum is crypto 2.0 in many ways and IOTA might be crypto 3.0, but time will tell on that one. My hope is that if BTC death spirals it happens after the market is mature enough not to go with it, otherwise we're looking at at least 2-3 years of complete despair in this space.

So in that sense, yes ETH might overtake it, then again there are other currencies vying for the number one spot too.

I think it is very difficult ETH to overtake bitcoin. because bitcoin is still very strong and ETH can only be below 1 bitcoin level. in the world of bitcoin cryptocurrency is still the king of all coins.

As you said it will never happen unless if the bitcoin banned in the whole world.ETH is a good crypto after bitcoin it also has good potential and it price growth also increased over the years but bitcoin has huge investors when compared to the ethereum and the price also increases as per the demand of the coin.We know that availability of ethereum is more than bitcoins so if ETH want to overtake the bitcoin then the market cap has to be increased a lot so i think it won't happen.Bitcoin will be the expensive crypto ever.

Etherum is popular coin but the problem is it came after BTC and developers got an idea from BTC system how to implement Etherum project into ICO investment. BTC has accomplished everything we did or didn't expect. It has also made some hard standards that are easy to follow. The current price of BTC is very high and BTC as a crypto is being implemented slowly into global companies. Etherum is the first project from ICO that made the good move toward equality with BTC. Right now its impossible to overtake Bitcoin but in the future everything is possible. Everything is connected and with that connections, Etherum needs good marketing control to overtake the global Bitcoin.

I feel ETH can be in the top 10 list but cannot beat the price of BTH over and above. It would take a lot of time for ETH to reach the price of BTC as its the king of all cryptocurrencies and many of the financial institutions and entrepreneur firms also believe more in BTC because of its potential what we have seen in the last couple of years.ETH can also become the most used currency only if the authentication and security is maintained good consistently. I also see ETH has good technology which would help ETH reach heights in the next few years.

Knowing the difference between BTC and ETH, can the ETH be able to overtake BTC? BTC is the king of all coins, and the ETH is above all the rivals with all the coins, but not above BTC. So ETH never BTC will not be able to move above. There is no power to move on BTC from the left side.

Upcoming updates for ethereum network will overtake bitcoin. Ethereum has more pottential then bitcoin and other bitcoin alts.
Ethereum will be the largets marketcap on crypto currency market.

It is possible for ethereum to overtake bitcoins in the near figure. Each and every day,new altcoins are been created into the market and they need Ether to empower it. So Ether will always increase in value.

I think the price of ETH will not be higher than BTC, because BTC is the core of all crypto, without exception ETH compete with other Altcoin, maybe ETH price will be higher than other Altcoin price. So do not ever expect the ETH price to exceed the BTC price as it will not be possible.

i agree with you mate even if possible ethereum overtake  the price value of bitcoin but the main currency among us altcoin is bitcoin, look at this scenario before you can exchange the ethereum or any kind of altcoin you need to convert the altcoin into bitcoin currency before you can exchange in the fiat your bitcoin, all coins is useless if bitcoin out in the circulation.

I am 99% sure Ethereum will overcome Bitcoin, at least in terms of market cap, because It offers better solutions for anyone who wishes to replace an old financial system with a new one, based on the blockchain, and I think that's where banks and other institution are heading within the next decade.
Another good reason to believe Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin is that most of the new coins are based on Ethereum, so it is backed up by them.

Ethereum, provides a key additional function that many other currencies lack: uses outside of a peer to peer transaction base and, thanks to the Smart Contract system is a base platform for many tokens, but I will never say that it will overcome bitcoin in its price because another way there will be the punic collapse in the market!
Price of bitcoin and almost of other coins especially those that haven`t conduct ICOs, is no more than the psychology aspect in the people minds and bitcoin will always be the DAD of the whole blockchain technology, even it is less usable in real life than Ethereum.

As a guy who got a lot of ethereum I prefer ETH to overtake bitcoin because Bitcoin is too slow and the transaction fee is too high ! Ethereum on the other hand is perfect

This is an interesting idea to be discussed. Etherium currently is paving its way to a more bigger success pathway and stability, but I think many will agree that it may took long for etherium to overtake bitcoin. It is not imposible to happen but it will take take time. Bitcoin is in the light line now and has the crown holding the top over other coins. Definitely etherium will do more later on on who knows, one day they will take each others places.
