The chat is buzzing with suggestions of how I can claw the losses back from investors. I figure if they want to give it back they will, and if not I don't want to antagonize them. Just know that the 1300 lost should never have been played with, and would not have been cashed out whether it won or not. So the investors weren't risking anything by having it gambled.
Here's my idea - give investors the option of paying 7.5% or 10% of profits to the site. When you've substantially recovered, remove the option (perhaps publish a stat on how much you've clawed back). I've only been invested for a short time so only have a tiny profit ATM but I'd be happy to give a little more of my profits in the short term to help out.

Of course investors were placed at risk by the mistake. The gambler got to play and risk *someone elses* money - and if he'd won big, then deposited 1300 coins to act as if he'd never meant to overdraw - what would have happened? Either you'd have had to pay him out with investors money - or refuse to pay him and risk the good will, reputation and future earning capacity of the site for not paying out a big winner. Either way - the investors had risk.

Doog if you put a option to donate even 50% of profits when we become net positive again, and this option persists until you have recovered the 1000 bitcoin. I would select that option for profits without hesitation.

Well that is very wrong then in that case.

In the period that celeste was playing, there were 11 invest/divest events, dividing his 147 bets into 12 sections. For each section I calculated his net profit/loss, and calculated each investor's share of that. I summed that over each of the 12 sections. The result in your case was that you profited 1.83299028 BTC from the 1300 BTC loss. Your balance at the time of the rollback was 1.81377284, not enough to withdraw the 1.83299028, so I divested the difference of 0.01921744 BTC. That's probably the wrong way to do it - I should have divested the full 1.83299028 and withdrawn that, leaving your starting balance untouched. But I didn't. If you divest 1.81377284 now, you'll have the same balance as you did before the rollback. I didn't cancel any of *your* bets. I just took the rollback funds mostly from your balance rather than divesting it. Edit: here are the numbers re. your investment before and after the rollback: before, balance: 1.81377284 share: 0.0014302363919835065 purse: 26189.70369142 invested: 37.45746731 after, balance: 0.0 share: 0.001502964987472036 purse: 24909.59549078001 invested: 37.43824987 You'll see that the different in invested before and invested after is the same as the different between your starting balance and the profit you made from the rolled-back bets. Did he Roll back all bets, even those others have done back to the point celeste started betting with the 1300 BTC, not just removed celestes bets with the 1300 btc that wasen't his/hers to bet with ? I rolled back just the 1300 BTC worth of bets from celeste's account.

That seems about right. Now I'm just mad because you fucked up my bot when you took all my gambling balance.

I believe the intent is to make it so the 1300 free roll never happened. The result is going to be that investors will also lose the profits from that free roll.
It's a tough call but technically those profits never existed. For disclosure I didn't have a balance on just-dice during the event so I'm just commenting from the outside.

If you're an investor you're probably a little mad but consider this, a man who has done nothing but try to help Bitcoins and the community made a mistake and cost him 1300 BTC, thats more then a lot of you would make fiat-based in 2 years or more. Thus, I neither agree nor disagree with Dooglus's decision to roll back the bets but honestly, I don't think too many people should be very mad. That balance never existed in the first place as said before.

Yeah, reminds me of the fake coins I got when JD was still on testnet. I mean, there were real testnet coins, (which I got from the faucet) and there were fake testnet coins (which dooglus credited to my account.)
I could never withdraw the fake testnet coins in whole, but I could have withdrawn whatever was in the hot wallet at that time. Meaning, some of the fake coins will turn into real coins, and go to my real wallet.
Today, we are on prodnet with valuable bitcoins. Similarly, there are real bitcoins, and there are fake bitcoins. You just take out the fake bitcoins, and everything is the way it should be.
More or less (plus / minus 1 BTC worth of withdrawn fake coins) but that's a lot less than 1300.
During testnet phase, I was a fake whale, betting fake testnet coins in the thousands. Max Profit was in the thousands too. I think I had a few million in my balance, and a few hundred thousand invested.

ReferenceError: socket is not defined. dooglus, what changed? you busted my bot. hehehe. I'm using BRules / vlees javascript code. If the api is ready, I can also try working with that.

There is no reason to be mad. It was profits that were attributed by error. There is no loss to take for anyone. Full ack! Investors had some profit shown that was not really there. It's definitely annoying, but I don't see a problem with the way dooglus is handling it.

It's definitely annoying, but I don't see a problem with the way dooglus is handling it. This is how it should have gone from the get-go. It was noble of dooglus to try and pay that out of pocket, but in the end he realized that a 1300BTC / ~$120K loss is a lot to stomach and retracted the offer. People around here and in the Securities thread kept on mentioning it because they felt bad for him, which I understand. I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing; money is money. He should have done this earlier, but the site is new and that's a pretty big decision to have to make. Overall, he's been 100% candid and open about it, which is something to appreciate. Don't let it happen again though
