I have a .dat wallet with some coins in it that I used with very old wallet version. I tried it with new wallets and it results in a crash. Can someone please advice how to resolve this issue? Try to export priv keys using the old version wallet? I ask because maybe there are ppl who solved such issues succesfully and that can share a solution.

Do you know what version?

I would say incremental upgrades until you get to the current one.

I didnt see any apology yet over here when Slovakia made up a tall tale that I stole the orphan funds the second month we existed- and then I proved that I am not the thief here; however, on the electric comment: it was a public comment on discord that Slovakia mines with stolen electricity.

Here's something for you to read - does this look like it comes from Satan? :
https://wiki.biblepay.org/Become_Zealous_for_Christ

Btw, your comments are mean spirited.

When grudges are held, only the ones holding the grudges will suffer.  I learned this a few years back.

Any attack on someones character shouldn't be done.  or at least shouldn't be done in a public forum, you reminded me of that..

This thread is peppered with an abomination of thought and discord.   It needs to stop from all sides.

As I tried to say last month ...

Let's let the rule of this thread, and this project be :  Only post things that the orphan's should be able to read and learn from.

My VPS with my running win wallet had maintenance yesterday. Before that I switched off the wallet. Today after maintenance was finished I started wallet again. What a surprise, I see again 0 active peers connection :-) :-) once again. After resync same, after deleting all appropriate files and restart and resync same.

Result: I dont have a words for this... again.

Sounds to me like a network/firewall issue rather than an issue of the wallet. I have several wallets (Win 7, Win 10, Ubuntu etc.) running and I regularly close and restart them and never had any problem with not finding peers.
The only time I experienced this exact same problem was when I had my laptop in a university network. There the wallet couldn't establish any peer connection.

P.S.: I don't have any "addnode=" lines whatsoever in my configs...

Thanks for answer dave. I was thinking about some firewall issue. I switched the firewall off completely but with the same result. I dont expect that VPS service provider blocked some network ports or something like that during maintenance.

dave_bbp sometimes it's better just sleep a little bit :-) today morning (Central Europe) is everything running ok without problem.

If I have issues with a wallet not finding any peers, I tend to find that stopping/closing it, deleting peers.dat and banlist.dat can help.  If that still fails, I check the wallet version and for any recommended "addnode" entries to add after once again deleting peers.dat and banlist.dat.

Have you tried "Tools" -> "Wallet Repair", then press "Upgrade Wallet Format"?  Or are you not even able to get that far?

Seems like someone is doing this only during weekdays oddly..

Difficulty shot back up to 25k+ on POBH mining, it seems to settle/drop over the weekend though

That feels a little suspicious. Just glad I'm not the employer of whoever's responsible

Does anyone have any idea how to protect the wallet with 2FA or multi-factor authentication, not necessarily like Google Authenticator, but like a multisig wallet in Bitcoin? I would do 2-of-2, so that for sending BBP I need a second key with which I can sign a tx on an offline computer and then return it to the online computer to broadcast it.

I imagine it would take some work...  Currently the PODC unlock unlocks it for sending funds as well ..

Multi-sig part I don't know about it. I know QTUM and HTMLCOIN both have unlock for staking only checkbox when you "decrypt" the wallet with your password. Maybe the code can be reused. Both are open source.

https://github.com/HTMLCOIN/HTMLCOIN/blob/master/src/wallet/rpcdump.cpp

I'm not a dev, so I don't understand what's involved, but perhaps the code is already there and it is matter of merging into existing BBP codebase.

I did it once in biblepay and it worked, not sure if this is what you want, but basically you would want to create a multisig address (I think they begin with a 7 in our wallet), and pick 2 of 2, then you send a certain amount to that address, and its locked unless both of the new private keys sign a transaction away from it.

Im sure you can find rpc examples to get it working:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Multisignature

Note that this is obvious, but I would send 100 bbp there and fully test (withdrawing it) a few times before committing a lot of bbp to the address.

How do you get this information? I look at the charts and while difficulty fluctuates, the Dark Gravity Well (DGW) re-adjusts every block depending on hash rate and how quickly the blocks are found. I'm not really any noticeable spikes that says the difficulty has changed much. It looks very smooth to me.

Still, I'm curious how to get difficulty per block (podc & pow), so I can create my own ranges instead just pool.biblepay.org

Is this something you plan to expose in the QT wallet in the future?

We already have it, you just take the rpc commands used in bitcoin to create a multisig address, you fund it, and when you want to spend it you use the createrawtransaction, signrawtransaction and broadcastrawtransaction to send it out of the multisig.  You must sign for each keyholder however before you broadcast.
