I'd say holding is much more profitable for a long term strategy but that shouldn't be the only thing you do, you should accumulate more, like buying on monthly basis or whenever you can.

Both of these things hold a very different significance:

HOLD: Holding is for those who can hold for some really long duration because holding means patience, it's like tenacity that needs too much time to break and Bitcoin is like God who rewards us for the dedicated time. It's for investors only who never "will to get out early".

Buy/Sell: Trading with bitcoins is differently important because without it, markets can't move. It's for traders but there are specific points that need to be known by you to be able to buy at correct times and sell at correct values, then buy back in at better values again if not exact.

it depends on you!
some people don't know how to trade and don't have the talent for it either. if they start buying low and selling high strategy (aka trading) there is pretty good change that they will be losing money instead. so the obvious choice here is holding or long term investment.

but if you have the experience and time for trading then of course buying low and selling high or the more preferable strategy to sell high and buy back more at the bottom to keep your profit in bitcoin not in fiat, is the strategy to use since it is more profitable for you in that case.

It depends if you have any trading expertise. If you don't then holding is much more likely to be more profitable. Trading without experience isn't much better than gambling. You will find it very difficult to buy low as there is fear in the market. Equally, you'll find it difficult to sell high because there will be market euphoria. The only way to escape these emotions and profit is to look at the market professionally. It will take time to do that. Therefore, holding is going to be much more profitable for most people.

Most of people who own a stores buy something they know that will have a higher demand in the upcoming week or month.

It is like bitcoin, you buy bitcoin at a lower price and then wait for it to have a good price and sell it for you to have a good profit. And then when you sold it, you wait for another dump and do the same thing over and over again.

If you can predict both entry and exit price point during huge price swing than you can multiply your bitcoin but if you fail to do so than you will actually loss more compared to what you can easily get by just holding all your bitcoin for 2-3 years or more than that.

If you want to be passive investor than bitcoin is idle for you.

But you can do for both, I mean's go but a bitcoins now (You can assuming as now's the lowest price), then you can start to keeping your money / bitcoins as future or deal with long terms(profitable).  That is are totally depends on your-self.

it's different, hodl and buy / sell. hodl if you hold a coin with long term. buy / sell can be said trading. buy at lace price in the not-too-distant future.

Thank you all for your replies . Iam not an expert trader but sometimes when I see some ppl talking about making x amount of money selling btc when its rising , I feel iam missing out. Last time I bought it when it was around 7200 $ and then the price dropped under 6k , I did hold it then as I didn't want to take a loss.

Hodling is the better strategy I think unless you have a ton of capital behind you and are a skilled trader. Otherwise it is quite hard to time the markets and doing wrong could leave you in an unwanted position. I myself

bought once and have been looking to make trader moves but I cant bring it to pull the trigger.

Empirically you are correct. Simply holding coins has proven to be more profitable, given the trading performance of the average market participant. BUT, if you can trade these dips. there is a world of additional percent gain that can be achieved, if used in addition with a longer term hodling strategy. speculation is so profitable here that cats are leavin Wall Street, the end all of jobs, to come trade crypto. the volatility is that real. but the typical guy that would trade is not a Wall Street, its someone that has never been formally learned on trading.

hence the price. hence the volatility.

so it boils down to "well, can you trade?", if not, then tuck those coins away and forget about them, OP

I depends on what amount of bitcoin you own and how much profit you want. If you want "rapidly" profit you can buy when it is low and sell when it is higher but for this you got to have a lot of free time to check the price and dont miss any good moment to buy.

Investing on a long term is safer and you dont have to make any effort like checking at the price every hour. You just buy bitcoin and keep them in the wallet for a period of time that you choose. It is important to have patience and dont panic if the price falls. Just keep the bitcoins in wallet and forgot about them for the period you choosed to keep the investment

Buy it and hold it - timing it is not an easy thing to do. Most people fail at it

One is investment where you buy and hold it for years or as per your requirement. Where you do not monitor much on daily basis . Other is called trading where you need to be active daily and keep finding opportunity to buy low and sell high and to get it right you will be rewarded with profits. Both are equally interesting.

Everyone says buy low and sell high but very few can sell at the peak and buy at the trough. Do not sell after a large drop as you will probably end up having to buy back at a higher price.

I think you should hold till next major high and sell there may be till 8500$.
Again when it is near 5000$ to 6000$ you should buy.

Both strategy works actually. For buying at low price and selling at higher price, you must have the knowledge to analyse the market and time to keep track of the news so that you can catch the buying and selling price. You are able to earn from the price fluctuations in this case.

Holding BTC is less time consuming and less risky.

If you have that much faith in bitcoin I suggest buy low sell high. Buy bitcoin whenever there is news that bitcoin will dumped like Government ban on bitcoin in a certain country and Bitcoin will be overcomed by Bitcoin Cash then sell when you think the price becomes stable or reached your certain goal profit.
