What happened to the original website? We are currently working to have it returned to the community. There is, however, a small chance that we may never get it back. For this reason we have decided to quickly cut all losses and move on with our new direction. If we do get the domain back, great! Of course we would be using it. For now though, we just needed to remove all uncertainty about the recent changes to the project and move forward.

What happened? Our former lead developer currently retains control of the domain. His stated intentions were to leave up his latest blog post in order to distance himself from CGB before moving on. He had stated that he will return it in one month but we can't afford to be without a website and a domain which may never be returned. He has now taken the site down completely and we aren't really sure what his intentions are anymore. It's really an unfortunate situation

My guess is that it is in the hands of MercSuey , our old dev who chose to leave the CGB project recently.

Well nice to see PSD that you guys have a strategy for our ongoing development and that a new domain is already in place. "Got Crypto" is great from a marketing standpoint, though it would be nice to have CGB.domain or Cryptogenicbullion.domain as well for new users.

You are absolutely right. We have a few other domains which we plan to leverage including http://cgb.holdings, http://cryptogenicbullion.holdings, in addition to http://gotcrypto.net. Ideally, cryptogenicbullion.org will be returned to the community and we can shuffle things back around. The only real issue we face is blind google searches, which will work better if we have the old domain. For all other advertisement we can use QR codes and links which will take the user straight to the correct site. Again, we have to position our presence this way for the unlikely case that the domain is never returned.

Hmmm, what I just notice, we have some very important info missing in the OP. I was looking for the CGB blockexplorer (the one with "top addresses") and headed to the opening post, but noticed we have no such info...no blockexplorers, no "services accepting CGB" and most importantly, the wallet download is missing. Not sure if this info was there, but has bean removed due to the recent events, or if we never had this info posted. But that is definately something that has to be changed On a norther note, bter.com is having a vote for new coins that they want to ad next week! I already requested CGB to be added to there poll, but until now they have not added CGB yet (though the admin has not been online since my request, maybe he will when he comes online). I think it would be a good Idea if other people requested CGB as well. Request CGB to be added to the "new coins poll" from bter.com: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=502363.20

I agree OP needs this info. It's basics of marketing to make things easy for people. Now people only get a link to social media and have to search, make more clicks to find what they want.
1. link active blockexplorer 2. link main website updated 3. link wallet download
Alternatively you could place latest giveaway/contest/vote threads so people will act upon more often.

In all of the recent excitement I didn't even think about the original forum post. You are absolutely right that its a major landing point for people who are new to CGB. This will definitely be a major consideration going forward.

OP updated, thanks guys.
Yes, that looks better! I have bean thinking, got two ideas and would love to hear your opinion on them. 1. New feature for the Client: Is it possible to Integrate a News feed in the client? There we could have announcements about new updates, events, votings, etz. Most CGB owners are likely not following this thread, so they are unaware of the exiting developments going on here and would also miss the opportunity to vote for the bter.com poll right now. I am not sure about the technical possibilities, but I am sure that it should be something doable....maybe Ariface can comment on that? 2. Right now we have a huge opportunity to get CGB on to bter.com, but I am sure we will have a hard time to compete with all those new coins that have a big swarm of miners that want there coins to be added to an exchange so they can dump them better. Now we could make a bounty and pay every voter 0.001 Bitcoin, but obviously there is no way of telling if some one voted or just says to have voted. And I believe I have found a way that people will actually vote. My Idea is to make a raffle thread that asks every one to vote for CGB and to reply with there bitcoin address, the raffel rewards should be realy high (maybe 1 btc ?). Rule is, the raffle will only be paid out if CGB wins and gets added to bter. I think this way we should get a lot of votes, what do you guys think?

I like the thinking here but giveaways are banned on BCT so this would have to be via Reddit or alternative... Also, we have the following to focus efforts on as well: 1. http://www.coin38.org/ - I received a tweet from btc38 (Chinese alt trading site) encouraging us to get involved in their forum to promote CGB for potential addition 2. http://www.ecoinfund.com/ - 2nd in line to get added per voting structure. 191 of the necessary 1k votes 3. https://www.mintpal.com/ - pretty far down the list but climbing fast considering we were just added to their voting poll less than 1 week ago 4. https://www.allcrypt.com/voting.php? - 16th in line to get added but climbing fast

Reposted from Reddit - Further discussion may be found here: Mod Note: Regarding former developer/project - IMPORTANTMod Note: Regarding former developer/project - IMPORTANTI want to publicly note that I have removed a few old posts (from Reddit) which refer to a certain project which is the property of our former lead developer Mercury Stills. Although I believe it will be impossible to wipe all references of the previous connection between that project and CGB off of the Internet, at least we can take some reasonable steps on Reddit and our new Website. We are also looking at the possibility of starting a new post on BCT forums to reflect the fact that we are now dealing with a "reborn" CGB which is totally different than it was in the past as it moves beyond the volatile inflationary stage. We will be able to better convey the history and future of CGB in this manner. I would respectfully ask that no further references be made here to Mercury Stills or his project as he wishes set himself apart from CGB and carry on without any further reference from this community. Thank you all for your understanding.

Wow! I think this is an amazing idea! Even something like an RSS feed could be pulled to the client I bet. Sounds like quite a bit of work but it would go very nicely with the other potential features we have been discussing lately. I have updated the Community Development document.
