Yes, of course
If any government think that it would be harmful for his inhabitants he can ban for their people. But if the government think that it has more useful effect than wrong effect it can run the country. There is no force that you have to use BTC.

Nobody can ban bitcoin until government allows internet access to people . Yes there is a possibility by banning interet in north korea or closing exchanges and bitcoin related sites . But it is just government take steps . Even after torrent ban in lots of countries still its working seamlessly .

The government's prohibition of Bitcoin meant that it would be difficult for Bitcoin trading to become a trend, as everyone invested in Bitcoin for the huge profits it made. The government fears Bitcoin will affect the economy so there have been acts that banned the Bitcoin deal, but only direct transactions, and now everyone on the trading platform to trade so it does not violate the law.

Bitcoin has been around the borders of financial markets for less than a decade, but is slowly gaining importance as an alternative asset class.
Can the government of any major country step in and do the unlikely?

no they did not ban bitcoin because government has no control to it and most of all many people has now invest to bitcoin,if they ban bitcoin  the people get angry to the government.

Government do nothing about it. I mean is unstoppable currency, is only you and I. I mean the users of btc say no, and I believe no one here or btc users we say no. Btc has changed people life, even what so called government has not think of. For me btc come to stay for ever.
No I don’t think so any government can ban bitcoin because bitcoin is reducing unemployment in many country and its also playing a very good role in economy of many country so if a currency can do such a great things for a country so then it’s very hard to ban and my country is also going to make bitcoin legal because bitcoin really help to our people and a lot of people have changed their life’s and I’m sure other countries will also make bitcoin legal.

Can be banned because every possible currency is used by criminals. This is the dumbest thing ever.

Why does the law prohibit the use of bitcoins
This crypto currency can not be approved by the state for several reasons:
Bitcoins are not tied to any particular bank.
This monetary unit has no real value security.

The government may not control the bitcoin, but I think they can ban its use in their country/area anytime they please. For now I don't see this ban thing becoming a trend, so it's safe to say it's not likely to happen.

For me, yes any government has their own jurisdiction and rules to ban bitcoin for some reason. Some country is already prohibiting bitcoin because of their cause. Yes, bitcoin seems very anonymous and you can do some evil stuff using it, and that is the main reason why some countries already ban it. Also, bitcoin is a currency even it is digital it still needs to be analyzed by the state.  Smiley

YES and other countries have been doing and imposing their will on that already and not only bitcoin but alt coins as well. Consider France today as it regulates using bitcoin since they fear about bitcoin to evade taxes, a perfect tool to fund terrorism and criminal acts which is indeed a very strong point.

Strictly speaking. No. They may only be able to restrict its functionality and hence fluidity but not ban it. Try banning the internet.... Hahahahaha.

That's for sure, and on a recent day, bitcoin and all other COINS have fallen a lot, because the Chinese government has sent a message that the Chinese government is banning bitcoin, which is terrible.

I think some government can ban it but not all, especially when they already appoved it as a legal way to earn money.
