There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Given that they had just started shipping Monarchs and looking at how the HashFast saga has gone, I would say it almost certainly is not good for BFL customers.

The bonus hardware has finally been removed from GHash.  I'm glad we're no longer supporting such a large pool.  It is on a private PPS pool that will allow for 0 variance whatsoever. When live stats become available I will add them to the website.

Wouldnt it be interesting if bfl were mining with unshipped equipment to fund refunds, and now with the receivership, no more mining, and btc hashrate stabilizes, making the difficulty not rise so dramatically?

Pure, outrageous speculation, but fun thought none the less.

Fun thought, but I suspect BFL is a small player in the chip building business.....

This, plus I dont think bfl produced the devices to use in a surreptitious mining scheme.

They screwed the pooch, it seems.  If they had sold in batches, like everyone else did/does, they wouldve been, imo, a more successful company.  I suspect they got overwhelmed by the volume, and then noticed the big piles of cash, and said, "screw it.  We cant deliver, so we may as well turn up the bass until if and when we get shut down."

I still want my cup warmer, usb powered jally.  That wouldve been a cool little toy.

All those who received miners from BFL though, you probably will make your money back.

You have a little bit of bitcoin history.  I suspect they will become collectors items in a few years.

Actually I'm not kidding.

Cheers

(hmm. am thinking BBC's Antiques Roadshow in 30 years time...  - ok - now I'm kidding).

Isnt that a bad return for the bonus hardware on the new PPS pool? 20% less? compared to the 10% loss in the "bonds" bought hardware.

It wouldnt be proportional, since operating expenses are covered through the bonus pool.  Worse, those expenses occur in usd, and btc has been down.  The irony is if btc were up, we'd all receive more btc...

No one will be able to give a definitive answer.  The glib answer is that there are more sellers than buyers.

Id guess its dollar strengthening, same reason gold and silver.  Btc are more speculative than the pms, and have seen that in monstrous downward pressure.  Inefficient miners will get shaken out if they need to convert btc to usd to cover operating expenses.   Of course, this creates a vicious circle of more btc being sold on the market, driving prices lower.  Weak hand miners have got to be getting nervous.

Curiously, alts, particularly doge, have made gains in btc terms.  I shouldve hedged more in doge than I did, but its all largely a guessing game.

The speculative money is moving from BTC to the v2.0 (stealth) coins perhaps? where large swings are still occuring.

Another cross-thread repost.  Whoa.

Hello everyone I figure you might all be interested in reading Josh Zerlan's deposition.

This is on a freely available sight that archives acced court records.
PT 1. http://ia902308.us.archive.org/32/items/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531.42.20.pdf
PT 2. http://ia902308.us.archive.org/32/items/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531.42.19.pdf

And here is the FTC's rational for the court to order a preliminary injunction.
http://ia902308.us.archive.org/32/items/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531.42.0.pdf

and here is some additional info:
http://ia902308.us.archive.org/32/items/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531.42.1.pdf report of an FTC investigator
http://ia902308.us.archive.org/32/items/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531.42.2.pdf
http://ia902308.us.archive.org/32/items/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531.42.4.pdf pictures of them mining with your machines

This one includes a chat with the principals:
http://ia902308.us.archive.org/32/items/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531.42.7.pdf

You're not going to believe it, but Josh was the White Knight in all of this. He constantly champions honesty and divulging a proper timeline to customers. He was the one guy with some intelligence on how things should be run but no one wanted to listen to him. He's getting a bad rap and I know some of it is on him but see if the chats don't at least change you mind about some things.

I don't see anyway that BFL gets control back of the company after reading that chat. NAIL IN THE COFFIN.
