Thanks for the info, Dave.  The honesty is very refreshing.  I assume the boards being mentioned are H-boards, I woudn't think that M-boards would be nearly as big an issue ( and didn't I read they are being produced in (?) Finland (?) )

I also guess these are well short of qualifying as being "Dave's semi-working" boards.  Two missing layers?  Ouch...  They screwed up bigtime.  Hope they make it right for you...

Hearing about small delays up-front (rather than weeks later) is a nice breath of fresh air. Keep up with the good communication.

Guys - Les received the boards today and ... they have a problem.  The fab dropped 2 of our layers, producing a 2-layer PCB (no internal interconnects).  We identified the problem immediately, got it fixed, and the fab is now expediting new PCBs on a 5-day turn.  We are seeking to expedite each additional step this is going to take, but we *will* lose 3 - 5 days here (and 10's of thousands of $$$)

Steps we are taking:
-2-day turn verification rig in production now
-send a team member to China to in-person test this rig
-expedite all stages of PCB production, assembly & delivery

Since we will be right up against our retail delivery timeframe, we are going to have to use the 100TH boards for filling retail product.  Due to this, Tytus has announced an increased hashrate supply to our 100TH investors of 200TH total, to be deployed in the next two months cumulatively (not all at once at the end).

We are as upset at the delay/fakap as you are I'm sure.  This is one of the side affects of pushing such a fast track project, but we are making it right.  Believe me we want this stuff hashing as much as anyone and we are pulling out all the stops to get it done.

Thanks Dave.  Details and honesty in an ASIC supplier is refreshing.  I think we all realize the myriad of things that can go wrong on cutting edge stuff.  All we ask is that we know what's up and what it means for us.  Thanks again.

Correct. The m-boards are 2 layers by design.

Hey c-scape - nice to hear from you!  I don't have a shematic, but I guessed it wasn't a 4 layer.  Thought any more about marketing that sexy standalone ethernet hasher you posted photos of ?

100th->200th would make these retail miners less valuable - sigh
it'd be nice for a discount or price drop based on this - we'll see

Very true. He does say a 'cumulative' roll out over 2 months, so let's hope the bulk is towards the end of the 2 month window.

Thanks for understanding - we took a big risk fast-tracking these boards but we felt it was worth it.  We depended on a Gerber export service provided by the experts we enlisted for PCB production.  Somehow, this happened.  We are stunned actually - its the little things that get you.

We hope to have verified, tested factory boards in about 3 days.  This last FedEx "overnight" shipment took 5 days to reach Tytus and that is unacceptable.  Poor Niko will have to get on a plane again to do this for us.  For you Euro customers, he may ship direct from the factory - we are looking at the logistics of it.

Meanwhile we are not sitting still on that.  We are setting up other sources of manufacture and assembly, both to support larger quantity of product, but also to avoid shit like this in the future...

For the record: nothing wrong with M-boards.  Nothing wrong with chips.  We ate the cost for bad PCBs and some scrapped boards that may get depopped if it ever makes sense.

We will get retail boards out before the 100TH -> 200TH begins to build up.  It will happen fast though, once the retail kits are out the door.  It was bound to happen anyway, somewhere on the network...

I'm still planning on producing rev 2 M-boards domestically, similar to what Niko is doing, so it shouldn't change your plans with respect to powering the boards.

Great. Case designs don't change either?

Those of us with August kits want to see them up and running as quickly, and seamlessly as possible.

Case designs?   Dave doesn't sell cases...

Perhaps I should rephrase the question.

"Do the new/replacement H-boards have different dimensions, which would affect the case design"

Many of us have cases already ordered based on the original board specs, that's all.

Nope - its the exact same board, except has inner traces, and actually works.

Any update on the CC merchant account?

For those wishing to purchase hardware with CC now, is the procedure still to place an order as 'bank transfer' and just state in the notes that 'CC payment is requested'? And what happens next?

Thanks a lot for the transparency, strong work ethic and commitment to you customers, Dave. I can totally tell a huge difference with other competitors who have a careless attitude and complete disrespect to customers.

Sorry to hear about eating some losses despite all planning in place. Sometimes those losses are a 'tuition' for our own operational learning for the next round of products on the positive side. Feel free to post any address to donate bitcoins. I wouldn't mind donating a few here and there to the cause once my mining setup starts hashing :-)

Fact of Bitcoin life. the Hasrate is going to increase. whether it is here or else where. If that extra 100 wasn't applied here it would be sold to someone else. The only thing that will slow down the hashrate growth is people running out of money to buy more hashers.

My guess (and I have about 6 payments outstanding at the moment)...  Once he has a new payment processor, he (or Kat) will email instructions....

I think I'll pay for my orders like one a day, rather than all at once - if for no other reason than to attempt to keep his new CC processor (and my credit card company) from freaking out.  It didn't work out so well with Square - they halted things right in the middle of me paying multiple orders.  I guess things got a little too hot for them...
