It seems to me today it is already impossible, too many altcoins share the total capitalization, not a single coin can do such a ROI today.

Yes, a million dollars for one coin is very expensive for the next 2-3 years. After 5 years, the situation may change.

Make a million dollars is quite real, especially if at the right time to buy a coin. But each will not get a million, someone must lose money, because this is how the market works.  Wink

Everything is possible in crypto and so its reaching 1 million $ just with holding. If you are really lucky, you can make this amount of money just from one altcoin. There are some coins which are dumped to almost no value after ICO and then get pumped agan, if you manage to choose the right one, you can gain even 1mil$.

I am starting to believe millions is possible now by participating in good ICO and buying only good coins... ignore $hitcoins guys, they are waste of time, such as ODN, SEND, UNIFY... I would have doubled my portfolio if not them but I learnt the mistakes, portfolios is growing slowly now

Monero had a long history of 0.5$-2$ prices. The ones that invested back then 10k$ into it are surely millionaires now. And it took 3 years. Some coins do better, some not. 2017 was a crazy year and I can't tell if more will follow. And you need a crazy year for this, really, else it could take even 10 years easily

If you have a solid capital and can hold on the market for at least a year, you can make good money. Of course, you can trade on the market, but I like the storage of coins.

 it is possible for any altcoins and also to bitcoin too. I think 2-3 more years past it will hit that price. In that price it will take too long if many people support bitcoin but i think bitcoin has limit of coins and i think its only about 21M coins are in the world

Of course, there are no people who see the future. Therefore, you can buy different new coins in small quantities. Maybe you'll guess what token will be Jack Pot in the future. Or maybe you will not guess and get a lot of useless coins in your wallet.

If one were to buy and hold solid  avaerge coins (not a coin that kicks out and gets 10000% gain), but rather a nice steady gain like eth, Ltc etc (top 20) and starts with 10k, is it possible to reach a million without trading and buying/selling at highs and lows? If so, how long would you predict it would take? Or are most coins not going to last long term, so every 6 months would I have to rebalance with newer coins?

People tend to think that the bitcoin opportunity was a one time thing and whoever invested in it at it's beginnings had the unique privilege to make a fortune , since people accused the coin to be a scam project at that moment and only realized that they were wrong when it crossed the 1k per coin limit .
Yet that same opportunity presents itself every once in a while with numerous altcoins , such as Eth , BCH and many others ..
You just need to be lucky enough to pick that coin at a "trivial amount" and be patient enough (years ) to see it skyrocket ..

I think you will have to keep coins for at least 3-4 years to hope that they will receive up to $ 1 million. I recommend that you have NEO and ADA in your portfolio.

ADA or Cardano is a very solid coin and is expected to remain one of the top 5 from now on , the coin has a very solid team behind it and is very secure to use . Neo doubled in value in less than a month , i'm a bit doubtful about it since it struggled a lot in the last year as well as 2016 , if it's going through a hype , i'll be wanting to wait for it's end to put some money in it , but i'll be watching it closely .

To become mililionare from crypto is very possible by start $10 k, but to predict which coin that can be give 100 to 1000 times profit in 1 years is hard, this is just factor lucky than knowledge. But if we continuously focus to make research and analysis about fundamental of crypto, will be more possible to make it in 1 or 2 years.

I don't want to discourage the OP. But coins which give you 10,000% returns get listed once in a blue moon. For every alt which gives you 10,000% profit, there will be a thousand other coins which will give you 100% loss. Keep your expectations to a minimum level and follow the basics before investing in the crypto-currency.
