O my! Are there still people mining here?!
Apearantly yes. Defies logic.

I've been load balancing about 20 megahashes across Middlecoin, Clevermining, and Wafflepool for seventeen days now. I just added up everything that has been sent to my wallet as of right now. Even though Middlecoin hasn't paid out today it is still number one on payouts for me. Number two for me is Clevermining and number three for me is Wafflepool. Expressed as a percentage, this is what I have been paid as of right now:
Middlecoin 100% Clevermining 86.3% Wafflepool 84.2%
If I completely ignore the first day's payouts to try and rule out unexchanged then Middlecoin is still number one for me, followed by Clevermining and Wafflepool.
Middlecoin 100% Clevermining 90.4% Wafflepool 85.0%
If I go backwards from right now and only count what has been sent to me the last fourteen days then Middlecoin is still number one for me, followed by Wafflepool and Clevermining.
Middlecoin 100% Wafflepool 92.8% Clevermining 93.0%

Interesting. All methods of comparing pools have problems but hash from one farm and BTC in the wallet has got to be as real world as you can get. Do you think you have similar pings to all the servers and similar hash rates at your end and as reported by each pool?

Interesting would be if he used 1/3 of his hashrate for each of those pools mentioned for same amount of time. This bouncing around pools isn't really something that convinces me...

Average ping to useast.middlecoin.com is 45ms. Average ping to useast.wafflepool.com is 61ms. Average ping to clevermining.com is 32ms. us.clevermining.com won't respond to a ping request. I'm not rotating pools I'm load balancing with each pool's quota set to 33%. I just checked clevermining's stats and my average hash rate has not dropped below 5 megahashes since I had a power outage on Feb 20th. It generally hovers right above 6 megahashes accepted. Each pool generally reports 5-7 megahashes depending on rejects/luck. I'm willing to change up the experiment a little though. I have three rigs that each average 5.3 megahashes. I will dedicate one rig each to the three pools I've been mining on. My fourth rig averages 4.6 megahashes. I will load balance the fourth rig across all three pools and see how it goes. Chad

I have tested mining here, clever and waffle. Waffle still pays out the most per mh/s. But all of them are starting to drop off....

I thought he's saying "load balancing". If you use the load balance option in cgminer it doesn't bounce around does it? According to the docs it should try to share hashrate between pool according to the set quota. (I'm assuming equal quota if it's a fair test).

Yes why mine on MC at all? Lack of communication, stealing coins, best daily payouts compared to the rest of autopools, why really?

Load balancing is just a waiting connection to all pools in your pool list. Work is then round robin rotation based on pool work quota, meaning each pool simply takes a turn. But there are also other factors in the work quotas, a disconnect will reset the pools quota, and I believe it adjusts quota based on rejects too.
I used to run load balancing between two servers and it was never 50/50, even over a long period. If you want to measure pools correctly, the load balancing isn't going to work. You'll have to setup a separate cgminer instance for each pool, preferably with identical performing card for each pool.

It's good to hear from someone who has read the code. So, you think the uneven balance word not average out over a test like this and would favor one pool all the time?

Well it would be spot checking every pool in the list, so it'd favor no pool really - and it would almost certainly not be properly balanced between the pools. Chad is going to dedicate 1 rig per pool, thus avoiding this issue.
That is probably the closest you'll get to a fair measurement of pools - assuming the rigs are identical, stable and run from the same location.

I'm sorry to say the experiment has already gone awry. All four rigs have been hashing stable for weeks, but unfortunately two of the rigs became unstable right after I switched the pool management. The dedicated Middlecoin rig and the load balancing rig are both hashing fine, but the Clevermining and Wafflepool rigs each had one video card go dead. I think it may be a heat issue since this is the hottest day I have seen with this setup to date and the middle two rigs are the ones that had a card go down. The two rigs hashing away fine are on the "outside" of the lineup like bookends.
What is strange is cgminer is unresponsive/not updating, but according to the pools, both rigs are still sending shares minus the two dead cards. Instead of listing the cards as dead cgminer shows the fan speed as zero and the temp as 511 degrees. I'm guessing they hit some kind of thermal cut off. I'm going to restart them now that it's cooler and see what happens, but it threw a wrench in the numbers right from the start. : (

So I've been mining here for 49 days now and have not received a payment yet. I have 12 rigs. Each rig has 6 3DFX Voodoo 3 cards. My total hashrate combined is 0.01 KH/s. When I press the turbo button on the front of each case I can max out to 0.02 KH/s but cgminer becomes unstable on win95 running off the floppy. Anyway, my calculations show I should have at least 0.001 BTC by the 44th day and I don't yet. I'm moving on to another pool. I've had enough.
