sad, many people lost money due to this scam coin
Every coins look like the scam coin. But in the near future, probably next few years, I think all or the most of coins will go up. With many pumps and dumps too.

I have a question. Quark could be mined only by CPU or GPU and CPU?

Asic are tools designed for a special purpose. Wait till an asic designed for scrypt hits the market , it won't be too long , especially with LTC value increasing.
+1, that is true. Why all the ASIC bashing in this thread? Have we forgotten what we owe our older brother bitcoin? I am a big fan of ASICs much like I am a big fan of technology. Every ASIC is different, there can potentially be unlimited amounts of different ASICs... it's not only sha-256 ASICs. An ASIC is like an algorithm hardcoded into a chip. For me, that is pure art, to eternalize an algorithm into a hardware chip.

But unfortunately you cant dump your ASIC miners. And oh yeah -- dumping ASIC is a LOT faster than Bitcoins. Passing $$$$s and Quarks takes no time! huh? I believe you're directing your nonsense to the wrong person : )

Some info for all those to catch up if they haven't already:
One of the new quarkcoin devs admits to scam behavior of coin creators/early adopters https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=370657.0I became a dev of Quark two weeks ago because I wanted to help turn that ship around. A lot of honest people put their money into Quark at Bill Still's direction and I thought that it could be saved. I pushed for an audit of the blockchain ( http://forum.qrk.cc/thread/368/auditing-block-chain), and what we've found ( http://forum.qrk.cc/thread/568/quark-faqs-compiling-fact-sheet) is incredibly disheartening. We lost a very dedicated member, who also happens to be a professional Forex investment manager, because he became convinced, like I have, that, not only are the fundamentals flawed, but the development, or lack thereof, of the project has been carried out in a very, very shady way. How the scheme works http://www.reddit.com/r/scamcoin/comments/1stzws/break_down_on_quark_scheme/OK so here is the Quark scheme for the noobs: - Set a very high number of total coins.
- A few people mined 95% of all quarks in a very short period of time.
- Agreement among the early miners to hold on their coins except a very few for trading on the market.
- Give quarks to people with some decent audience (i.e. Bill Still + Max Keiser) so they can promote it.
- Resulting a high number of buyer on the market + very few coins available for trading = high market prices in a short period of time.
- High market prices X total mined coins (which 95% held by a small group of people) = super artificially high market capitalization.
- Noobs look on coinmarketcap.com and say "WOW quark is very promising!"
- Rinse and repeat 4-7
- Dump and profit.
Shame on all QuarkCoin promoters! Interesting discussion on quark environment http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1su2aj/the_scam_behind_quarkcoin/Basically, there was no real development or development team before the Bill Still interview. The code had not been touched in 5 months. No infrastructure. No nothing.
Kolin Evans was never a "Quark Developer" (as he claimed to be in the Bill Still interview). That was a lie - Quark "enthusiast" would have been a more appropriate title.
The current dev team consists of volunteers who joined after the Bill Still interview; they never had a chance to mine for any significant portion of Quark. They are expected to buy Quarks at current prices if they wish to have an investment.
There is no funding source for these new volunteer developers. They are expected to work for free.
Max, originator, has no interest in Quark leadership or development - would rather relegate such to the community to decide on a consensus basis.
Anyone who points the above out is called a quark 'hater' or 'troll', rather than an investor who has done his due diligence. Now obviously many people have a lot invested in quarkcoin (myself included) and they won't immediately give up on the coin. This is also not saying that if you invested right this minute that you wouldn't make a profit. In fact, investors may delude themselves into keeping this farce alive for a very long time. But make no mistake, this is a game of musical chairs, someone is going to be left without a chair to sit on.
There is a reason that bitcoin has succeeded at attaining widespread appeal and been considered as a new currency by governments. There is no way, I repeat, NO WAY, that a coin with this shady behavior and uncertain development practices can become a legitimate currency. Why would a store-owner accept a currency that has such an uncertain and shady history? Would you put your life savings into a shady currency created by the Russian mafia? Of course not. Please just think about that before you take out a loan on your house and invest it into quarks.
I am holding quarks and I will most likely buy more if there is another crash, but only with money I am prepared to lose. I am treating quark purely as a short to mid-term investment, as I do not believe in its future is a legitimate currency. Frozencoin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=366762.0 has the benefits of Quarkcoin (9 rounds of 6 algos) without premine/instamine and a smaller number of max coins (7,777,777). I suggest for people to look into Securecoin or Frozencoin and diversify their investments.

Hi To respond to some of these claims: The fact is the distribution of Quark similar to Litecoin, Namecoin and Peercoin: http://forum.qrk.cc/thread/681/top-100-wallet-concentrationA few people mined 95% of all quarks in a very short period of time.
Quark was announced on Bitcointalk where probably tens of thousands of users had the opportunity to mine from the very first block. There was no "pre-mine". This is not true for a lot of other alt-coins. The period of mining is similar to Infinitecoin, Extremecoin and numerous other altcoins. The code had not been touched in 5 months. No infrastructure. No nothing.
Untrue. Regular checkpoints were added and bug fixes were done. https://github.com/MaxGuevara/quark/commits/master/srcIn terms of infrastructure. Seed nodes were provided, Quark was sucessfully submitted to coinpayments.net, etc. Kolin Evans was never a "Quark Developer" (as he claimed to be in the Bill Still interview). That was a lie - Quark "enthusiast" would have been a more appropriate title.
Kolin is a Quark enthusiast. Max, originator, has no interest in Quark leadership or development - would rather relegate such to the community to decide on a consensus basis.
I still stand by Quark belonging to its community. Regards Max

"...blah blah blah..."
Now , let's wait for the quak supporters to tear this post into pieces. After they dump all their coins on the market I fully expect to be ripped a new A-hole but it saddens me to see people suckered like this. If we consolidated all the money/time/hashing power going into the 100+ altcoins into just 5 or 6 unique, transparent and legitimate altcoins they would all prosper more and faster.
Seriously, red dwarf coins? UScoin? Hoboknickels? Honestly can you imagine a mother of two going into a grocery store to buy baby formula, the cashier asks her how she would like to pay and she says" "I would like to pay in Hobo Knickels please". ... Nope. If it has no future, what the fuck are you doing developing the coin, mining the coin or buying the coin? Enough is enough, the more altcoins we have the more we weaken the concept.

You want to release a global currency but only create a fair entry-point for "tens of thousands"?There was no "pre-mine". This is not true for a lot of other alt-coins. The period of mining is similar to Infinitecoin, Extremecoin and numerous other altcoins. Because others are doing something doesn't mean its a good idea...The code had not been touched in 5 months. QRK has been premined? - this topic has been beaten to dead. leave it alone please. anytime there a dump, many more happy investors.
network has not been improved? I not a tech guy but I can tell how well my wallet working. the difficulty rate tell me how strong QRK network is.
QRK concept (inflation) is really good. it find the balance to keep the system going forever.
