So , right now , with a blocked reward of 8 coins we have 46080 quakrs mined /day , right? At a price of 0.087$ this makes the reward 4000$ /day.
Now , if the block reward drops to 1 , miners will only get 500$/day. And 15 000$/month. Compared to electricity costs this makes the network look very insecure for the moment.
You're wrong. The difficulty will fall back, there'll be less miners with more rewards per miner. Remember I mined 100,000 with a core i3. What am I wrong here? It doesn't matter if there will be 1 miner or 1000 miners. Based on the block reward there will be only 1 quark every 30 seconds. And at current price the overall reward for mining will be 15 000$ for all miners. monthly! How many will keep mining and keep the network secure with such small revenue? You can't have a secure network with 50 people mining. The reason why you guys are panicking is cause I think you're new to this altcoin business. If mining will be expensive, they will stop mining. If they will stop mining, the difficulty will drop. If the difficulty drops, the existing miner will churn more rewards with the same hashing power and electricity. The minimum is 1millions quarks per annum, not 1 quark per block. This's good enough to sustain mining.

If mining is expensive , people will stop mining. Difficulty will drop and the people that continue mining will split the reward. So the reward will not be split into 1000 shares but in 100. Now , there is a limit on the reward per day. At the minimum , the reward will be only 500$/day. Of course there won't be 10 000 miners mining that (mining 24h with a computer to get 5 cents) . Probably only 1000 (50cents/day). LOL. Of course it will be profitable for them to mine maybe, but , you call a network with 1000 miners secure?

How many connections should I see if my port is forwarded correctly? Even with my port forwarded BTC QT wallet, I only sometimes see 9 connections. (Usually 8 and that is bad)
My Quarkcoin wallet is showing 15 active connections. I have no problem receiving payments, but I ordered one transfer 20 hours ago and I am still waiting (0 of 6 confirmations). Do I have to open / redirect any port in particular in my NAT / router? José Antonio Looks like yours is open. I found this "Quark uses 11973 Network port. Please open port 11973 on your router and post your IP there." here: http://altcoins.com/qrk-quark-super-secure-cryptographic-coin.htmlNot sure if that is right. Anyone? After opening port 11973 (via forwarding), my wallet says 100+ connections!

BTC = Black Swan. BTC = Antifragile - "Some things benefit from shocks; they thrive and grow when exposed to volatility, randomness, disorder, and stressors and love adventure, risk, and uncertainty. Robust is not the opposite of fragile.

I started mining these considering all this. This was expected to happen quick -- the design can be self sustained. I liked the design. Another e.g. is cryptogenicbullion and Zetacoin. All are going on well.

And just when I thought I stocks still wont help, I was in this cryptocoin business. And geeks ain't patient. That's why they want FAST -- 1) Graphics cards 2) Processors 3) Ram 4) SSD Right now we have more investors than geeks in Quarks.

There was no withdrawal on the other end too. So ask them to reconsider. Ask who? This is a transfer from my personal wallet on my PC to my QRK account on coins-e The amount is not in my personal wallet anymore and I did not receive the QRK on coins-e, neither. What can I do? Did I lost my mined quarks? Reindex, you should get your quarks back.

Nothing goes up constantly - when an alt appreciates substantially is usually followed by a 50% or more correction. All eyes on Bitcoin now to make its next big move once that's taken place expect (some) crypto's to make another move higher. Anyone expecting to buy into any coin only to see it go up in one direction should review bitcoins rise to fame. Buying before a big drop allows the opportunity for reflection as to whether there was any substance to the investment in the first place.

Bitcoin is the original technology and trend setter, all other coins are basically variations and or silly copycats.

Yeah absolute! The majority still thinks qrk was pre-mined, at least all the noobs. And the "buzz" died after the keizer/still pump(no offence).

why is quark more viable than any other alt-coin? I don't see any of these coins having a long enough shelf life to even compete with bitcoin. Businesses accepting 100s of alt coins? I can't picture it.
