There is a chance that part of bitcoin's capitalization will pass to eth in 2018.
But price for etherium will not be so high because supply of eth much more than btc.

And don't forget about Bitcoin Cash Wink

Like The internet, bitcoin will continue to evolve but not replaced. If you ask me if Ethereum is the next big thing after Bitcoin, the answer is absolute yes. However, Ethereum is not going to replace Bitcoin.  Ethereum positions itself as a complement to, rather than a competitor with Bitcoin.

Ethereum is an altcoin in the crypto space that’s picked up major traction. It’s definitely one of the majors, but that’s not to say it will be the only major in the future. Between BTC, ETH, and a handful of others there are definitely going to be a few that withstand the test of time and prove themselves as intrinsically valuable in this disruptive new market. Personally, I have my eye on this company.

I think what will happen over the next 2 years will define what the crypto industry means for the majority of the western world, but if adoption picks up, people become more educated, and so forth - crypto will most definitely continue to be considered an asset to people.

Ethereum is to blockchain what Microsoft Windows is to the tech industry.

It is definitely here to stay, but it won't replace Bitcoin. It has a different functionality.

I'm currently viewing Ethereum as a safer investment than Bitcoin. Ethereum has a leg to stand on because there are thousands of other tokens built on top of its blockchain platform. But the value of Bitcoin is based solely on trust in the system. If people start to lose trust in Bitcoin's real intrinsic value, the price will drop. But Ethereum has a greater intrinsic value due to its functionality.

Come on guys, ETH like it is today has no future. The whole eth network collapses because of some digital kitties. Ardor is like eth but with no transaction fees and scalable. It is going to replace eth in 2018 I hope.

Is ethereum going to be next bitcoin?
It is already second coin by marketcap but it might not took over bitcoin, despite the block size issues and high fees people are still supporting bitcoin and buying it as store of value.

ETH is still in adoption phase but I also have high hopes for all smart contract based platforms/coins.

No, Ethereum will not become a new Bitcoin. It's the different class of project. I suppose that BTC will always be the leader and there is no altcoin which will beat BTC anyday.

I completely agree.
It is impossible to take and replace the leader - bitcoin or somehow to approach it. And the gap ethereum in the amount of money will be more and more

Impossible to say. Eth market cap. almost surpassed btc during "the flippening" in mid june, it might as well happen again. Extreme price boosts doesent even necessarily have to do with the tech, dev. team or what the product solves, but pure hype/fud. Its irrational and hard to predict.

Is ethereum going to be next bitcoin?

Ethereum maybe the best coin after the bitcoin, and the price of ethereum keeps increasing in stable rate. The price of ethereum may bump in the next year because many ICOs are started based on ethereum so it will creates demand which means price also will increase.
But ethereum availability is unlimited so the chance of getting prices like bitcoin's price may not be possible, but bitcoin price also looks same of ethereum in dec 2016,but in 2017 dec the price of bitcoin is $20K.So the price of ethereum also will bump in 2018,I think it will hit $2000 in 2018.

In case of strong correction of bitcoin, the ethereum can take the place of the leader. The network is constantly evolving and improving.

I don't know. I can not predict what happens to the future. in the crypto world all gray, nothing is certain. except the bitcoin that remains the king of all crypto
but all can happen, yes I agree eth has the future. but I doubt it will be able to compete with bitcoin.
