Just anxious is all
ps. anyone confirmed these will run on DPS1200 PSU? as in replacing 741's on that PSU?

I would say if it does work it would be pushing it to the max. My 741's can push almost 1200 the way it is as a ramp up if hashing high.

I would say if it does work it would be pushing it to the max. My 741's can push almost 1200 the way it is as a ramp up if hashing high. At one point I had Avalon 741s running on 1000W EVGA GQ-G3s. (They came that way from the previous owner.) One of the G3s and one GQ were a little touchy, but amazingly they held up pretty good. No voltage drop, and hash rates as high as 8.3TH! I would NOT recommend this. I have been buying APW3++ supplies (currently running on 110v) and doubling up the old 1000W supplies on the Avalons. The manufacturer spec for the miners is for the spec hash rate. Because the miner can have a higher hash rate than the spec, it can use more power. In my experience the EVGA supplies did very well with it. Your mileage may vary with the DPS1200. Like the previous guy said...you might be pushing it if you are lucky to have an over performing miner. Also, you will typically get better efficiency loading a power supply to around 50-70% of its rated capacity. Two 1000w supplies should consume less power than one 1300w, etc.

I would say a 1300w or higher would be fine. 1200w power supply would be pushing it soley based off the fact that the 821 will most likely be maxing it out for sure on stock settings.

No matter what miner you're running, always have a bit of power left on the PSU. This'll increase efficiency as it puts the PSU near the peak of its efficiency curve, and the PSU will have some loads off its back. Server PSUs are made to run at such conditions, but I still like to leave a couple hundred watts unused. For more specific efficiency curve information, searching (psu name here) efficiency curve should net you results on Google or whatever search engine you are using. As an example, this is the AWP3++ efficiency curve. Most of the time this saves just a couple % in terms of power usage, but over long periods of time you're saving hundreds of dollars. https://shop.bitmain.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020170627175024105t4k8SjM5067C

Really none of you run the DPS1200's? (not the black connector ones, but the blue connector ones DPS-1200FA-1 A's) - These are the 94% Titanium rated ones and underclocking the 741 to -1, they run amazingly cool to the touch and I've yet to have a problem with them. In fact they came highly recommended. I would *never* run a 741 on a regular DSP-1200FA (the one without the the 1A), they run very HOT and are not 94% rated.
And for the record, I'm talking 240V not 120 (I would never run one on 120v on a 741)
Btw, normally i would agree with you on the head room in a power supply, but these server supplies reach their max efficiency in the upper percentage of use, in fact, they draw more watts at lower utilization as a function of their efficiency curves than they do at the upper range.
You can also get some 1400 PSU's that use the common slot... Maybe I'll have to look into those. I like the 1200's because they don't have a tiny turbine for a fan in them like the sorcerers (which I have but hate)

I guess you can get away with the 1200w PSU when you underclock the 741s. I run mine at 0 or 1 and I'm hitting 1300w on my apw5.

Sent you a request by email.

They are *very good* via email... make sure you question anything that looks really strange (except the price of 821 which to some extend their hands are tied by Canaan around). My experience dealing them has been exceptional!

This may not help if you are in need of AUC3's a) I'd go to the marketplace and put in a wtb for AUC3's... The originally came with all the 741's so there has to be a metric boatload out there that were never used. b) the controller is nothing more than an Rpi1,2, or 3. The software image is complete and you just burn the image to a 4G or larger SDCARD and you have a controller. There are a few guides online for how to do it, it's really easy and what I running on my 741's.

I believe their latest batch of Avalon controllers come with an auc3 as well...that was only reason I purchased Avalons controller instead of buying a pi/card/case and flashing on my own..especially considering the auc3 are like $30 or $40 on their own...also, if you ask for power cord to be included they will provide one for you!

Anyone get their 821's yet? I went to setup the controller today, changed network to dhcp and added a password. Restarted the controller and all a sudden it's not found on my network nor can I access it anymore.

Thats weird, I've seen that when I set static ip. Does your router recognize your device? Did you try plugging in a hdmi monitor to see what the controller displays on the screen?

It like literally keeps resetting it. I unplug the power cord, plug it back in, and nothing is saved. I have to redo the 192.168.0.100 everytime and set it up.

Never saw that, but your mini sd might be stuck in read only mode. You might want to reflash the mini-sd and perhaps google "mini sd in read mode" as I don't have permissions to post links
