I got in the newsletter quite a while ago: Avalon 821: The Avalon 821 will ship at 11 TH (terahash) and 1200 Watts for a power efficiency of 109 Watts per TH, a great improvement over the 741 which was rated at 150 Watts/TH. Pre-sale date will be Jan 12th 2018 at 5pm MST. Pricing will be established by the manufacturer and driven by market forces and the price of Bitcoin. Pricing and shipping dates will be updated on the site a few days before the sale. We will not be answering calls during this time, we cannot field hundreds of instantaneous calls requesting to pay over the phone, thanks in advance for understanding.

So it was announced on twitter that presale is Jan 12th 5pm MST? Did I miss that here? I was expecting to read about it here first.
There will be another notice in here for the 10 miners that Blokforge is setting aside for us.

They can’t charge more than Bitmain is charging for the S9 at the same time. Bitmain is due to announce their next generation 256 miner anyways. But I expect the price of the 821 to be close or equal to the s9.
Not true

Yeah there is certainly nothing confirmed yet about Bitmain's future hardware.

Not true I didn't mean it was a known thing... I'm just saying the S9 has been out for a while and Bitmain will have been working on its successor. And of course they CAN charge nearly anything they want in the current market and atmosphere. But in a normal market, you can't ask more for less.

How much did they cost a pc?
No one knows... if I would have to guess I would say around 22-2300.00usd/each bulk reseller price is $2885 each ($173,100 pallet with 60 pieces) https://canaan.io/product/bulk-pack-reseller-821/Im guessing resellers price will easily be above $3,000 If using that price the controller and PSU would also be included.

So the Sorcerer PSU, and the controller. If the reseller is getting them for $2885 then they will have to resell for at least $3500 - $3600. The reseller has to make a profit, and these items do not bring in any secondary sales (i.e. add on items into the cart). So I would be very surprised in not seeing at least a 25% profit margin. Does the $2885 include shipping as well?

The price on the pallets has been set for over a week now. It doesn't mean anything. A week ago BTC was at $20k USD and they will adjust it based on the price of BTC (as they have stated) at the time of sale. Right now I expect it to be less than the price they are showing.
Pure and simple: they can charge whatever they want and (at least some) people will pay it.

So at today's pricing you can take off around $390.15. But this does not account for shipping/import taxes etc.... Edit: Yes, they can most likely charge 4k, and still sell out. People will still snatch them up

But also consider that the price they are showing may not be what the distributors actually pay; even if adjusted for current market prices. We should find out by the 12th though.

I would expect the 821s to be priced under 3k, assuming the price of BTC/BCH doesn't go through the roof before the 12th.

Hopefully it's significantly under 3k, because at that price it would almost be better to have two 741's.

Yea seriously. They need their head checked if they think they are going to charge $3000. I would grab them if any price under $3000. Over 3k, is just ridiculous for a 11 th machine

Whatsminer M3 at 11.5-12 TH/s was selling for $1507 with delivery mid to late March. Antminer S9 at 13.5 TH/s was selling for $2320 with delivery 1st to 2nd week of March. Canaan's 821's are going into full production Feb. & March according to their announcement so the earliest they will probably ship is in March too. So their pricing should be between the 2 prices above since it's only 11 TH/s but a newer technology miner.

Yes. As far as everyone has been saying, it can control both models.

Yes. As far as everyone has been saying, it can control both models. My question would be can one controller be used for both when both are connected. For example if I have two 741's in one usb port can I connect two 821's in another usb port. Would be nice if this could work I woulndt have to buy another controller. Also if the price is above 3.5K I don't think I will purchase a 821. Thats almost 4k once you factor in a power supply and possible controller.

I'm pretty sure you could run 721s and 741s on the same controller, you just had to be careful when updating the firmware because it was different for them.
