Minor corrections:  You can run 821s and 841s together on the same controller.  Did that for a day while I figured out my Pi 1 issue.  The firmware is the same for both.

Yes, you can, same as you can run 721/741's together BUT with 1 caveat: DO NOT apply any miner updates (.mcs files) to them together!

mm updates are applied to all miners on the controller and the mm update files are tailored to a specific miner. Trust me, an x21 or x41 miner will not like thinking it just became a different type. Been there, done that mixing 721/741's. Fortunately once you separate the miners it is easy to back out of the problem by flashing with the correct miner-specific files.

Excellent point.  For reasons of pure aesthetics (it worked out well for me with my shelving and I have plenty of old Pi 1s) I separated mine out - but that is a great point.  I've only had my Avalons for a few days, so haven't needed to do any mm upgrades yet.

@Blokforge
I got my 841 today, but all I got inside was a cable. No present and no Auc3. Am I missing something or do I have to buy an auc3 too? Canaan is really nickel and diming us if they took away the aucs from the miners. They came with the 741s. I know the avalons are suppose to be more reliable, but having to buy controllers and aucs pushes the pricing on the 841s to double the price of the available S9s.

PM me your order number.

Over a month ago Canaan announced in the Forum that the AUC3 dongles are now sold separately. That is also clearly stated in the sales copy on all of their distributors websites. Bit of a PITA I agree but considering each dongle runs 5 miners it does make sense. I've been lucky and still had a few spare AUC's from buying my 721/741's last year.

What I *would* like to see included with each AUC is a USB-A to micro-USB data cable. A lot of times folks find that cables they have on-hand are actually charger/power cables that do not support data transfer. Ran into that last night when hooking up my new miners...

As for the controllers, aside from needing one per type (A721, 741, 821, 841) each controller will run up to 20 miners so is not that big of a deal when you have several miners...

micro USB cable makes sense to include, we will include with AUC from here forward.

Thank you very much!

Thank you.  I lost a few hours wondering what I was doing wrong (it was my first experience with Avalons) until it occurred to me.  Fortunately had some new long data cables, and have since ordered some more appropriate short ones.

In any case, including the cables would have resulted in a bit more remaining hair on my head.

Are the $200 off coupons from the email campaign no longer valid?

I realize the price dropped as well but just curious if there was an official announcement on that because my code seems to no longer work.

Correct, they were for the last batch, not this batch we have in stock now.  But if you did not use it yet, just email us we can do something.

Hmm, placed my 'pre-order' for a June batch miner on Monday and the shipping emails say it is already on its way and will show up on Friday. Didn't know it was June already Wink
LOVE you folks!

After 1-week finally got a replacement fan from Canaan to replace the dead fan in one of my A741's I purchased direct from Canaan before they setup distributors.

That brings us back to what I asked Blokforge Support last week: Can we purchase spare fans from you? Would really be nice to have a couple spares on-hand while waiting for the Warranty replacements to arrive

Grant you out of over 20 Avalons ranging from A721 to A841's this is only the 2nd fan failure I've had but the writing is on the wall as they age.

To Nick @ Blokforge, got the fans you sent and thanks. Having spares on-hand gives nice warm and fuzzy peace of mind for next time a fan goes out.

To all, Blokforge does have fans available for spares. If not listed yet just send them an email and they will take care of you. Warranty replacement is never an issue but it *does* take a little time (few days) so having a spare to pop in before the replacement arrives is always handy Wink

Don't know Nick but spare fans are always needed, don't have any for 821/841's actually good suggestion.

Bought 821's from BF a while back no issues but avalon controller only had one AUC3 and a couple cables. Felt a little gyipt but they list it differently than canaan does or did. So not really misleading but couldn't round out my final build out as I had more units inc. They also didn't post my review of the product I submitted, it was negative I wasn't happy. Burnt me out some but they do have good pricing and since I paid over 3000 for my 821's we they hooked up some love later after coupons expired. A little bittersweet I suppose but no one is perfect. Stock fans for these? Yes please.
