lets just say that the recent downfalls have really turned the administration off on this coin. its still on the list, but this major of a malfunction is a real set back. the coin has a negative stigma because the clients won't download the blockchain past a certain point. i wouldn't give more than a bitcent per 100k now.

I wouldn't consider it dead...but we definitely need a new dev to take this project over. Obviously the dev knew there was the potential for complications with the 1.2 upgrade...and yet, beyond simply making mistakes and then being unprepared, he was completely absent when everything fell apart. PHS has only been around for a couple weeks and already the dev walked away in the middle of a crisis.
I feel like all of the people that have been dedicated to PHS and have been continuing to mine it despite the various issues are owed an apology. This single incident probably dropped the perceived value of PHS by about 90%...and unless a new dev takes over I'm done with it. Completely unacceptable -- it's ridiculous that we had to waste so much time on this while simultaneously sustaining damage to our investment while the dev just stepped away.
This thing is still a mess no matter how you look at it...and only time will tell if it has a chance to survive.

+1 Sad, but true! Without a (responsible/caring) dev the coins is worthless. Back to LTC ...

I'm on 1.2 with 38 connections and everything seems completely normal except my client is stuck showing 3 bad recent transactions. I've mined a few blocks and got a few stakes and they've been confirmed thus far. The log still shows a bunch of errors, but they might be normal. The network hash is way down. I lost the coins mined within a ~24 hour period.
People should probably run repairwallet, after backing up of course.
I never downloaded the new blockchain, I got synced with 1.0 then jumped to 1.2 and I think I was one of the first here on the chain. The question now is, is this the same as everyone else?
11:12 AM US Eastern time: { "blocks" : 8904, "currentblocksize" : 1000, "currentblocktx" : 0, "difficulty" : 0.15820653, "errors" : "", "generate" : false, "genproclimit" : -1, "hashespersec" : 0, "networkhashps" : 4490281, "pooledtx" : 0, "testnet" : false }
I guess I'm in agreement with the consensus. The coin's stuck in intensive care, and the dev has to step up and bring someone else onboard, or let someone else take over. Otherwise it will just fade away. If people can't even download the client and sync without additionally downloading the blockchain from an unofficial source, it's not going to attract anyone new.

This download won't work for linux users! There is no 'AppData\Roaming\' directory. Someone who has the correct block chain downloaded post your IP so all the linux users can connect to you and sync up.

TMLoL, i'm considering making an Windows Installer Package that installs the new client AND installs the blockchain provided by denned.That takes care of Windows users "getting over the hump". What about linux? now it would be a good idea for someone to create a shell script that does the same for linux, however most linux users are tech savvy enough this probably wouldn't be necessary.

Is there a consensus on the nature of the problem? On the first day of PHS, there was a "bad block", and this is sort of like that. Is it just a simple fork, or is there a block that people can never get around using 1.2? Which raises a bigger question, is there's an inherent bug that can cause bad blocks within ~6000 blocks. 1 in a million chance for a bad block is OK. 1 in 6000 and no update is doom. Has anyone compared the source between 1.0 and 1.2 to see what was fixed/broken?
