Long term - Bitcoin and Ethereum. Both are perfect assets.
Short term - altcoins like Ripple, Cardano and IOTA that are good for trading and buying something.

I look all the time. Even long term investments could gain more value if you sell on top and rebuy a little lower.
Not easy to say when to sell / buy. But after huge gain be ready to sell and rebuy.

Both had advantages and disadvantages. For my opinion, it is better to choose long term because it will gain more than the short term. Many risk takers choosing long term period because they know that it can benefit them bigger. You are having investment not to sell it immediately instead of holding it and earn from it.

Long time means holding coins, in my opinion it`s very important to be patient and so this is a good way to do so. However, no one knows how coins will develop the next morths, I would spread therefore some money in altcoins (shorter term) and some money in btc

I much prefer long term, my days of mining and dumping are long since over. The key is to find promising new projects and spread your funds / hash between several of them. Some will die a slow death, but if you do your research there's a good chance of striking gold.

Plus it's beneficial at tax time, at least in the U.S., to have a long holding period i.e. greater than 1 year.

If you would ask me to choose one I would go for a small trusted crypto for long term , or a crypto like ETH . BTC for me is a currency , though steam has removed the option to pay through BTC because of the rising fees and the slow transaction speed but I am sure they would start it again after some time .

Short term investment are more of a gambling, if the value goes down you would end in a big loss , while in long term it is constantly increasing for most of the trusted crypto's .

Long term survival coins are best coins which can be grows in the market in the same time. Please choose the bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin and dash are the perfect crypto currencies which can grows and survive for the long time. If you any altcoins which is now we can cannot say 100 percent sure that concern altcoin bumping for the short time. IOTA, CARDANO, WAVES, STELLAR and other cheap altcoins may have the potential but still it is good for the short term profit in the trading site.

I personally try to keep 75% in my long term hold (1+ years) (BTC, ETH, Iota) and then use 25% for short term (< 1 year)/day trading type holdings.

It depends, for ethereum and bitcoin, I'm always in long term. For some tokens, I'm in long term as well. For some other coins, I'm only holding them temporarily to have profit.

For me coins for short-term are Bitcoin and Top Altcoins like Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Segwit2x, LiteCoin, Dash etc. These coins although already more expensive but they do seat on top because of the trade volume that keeps on increasing and it's guaranteed that you'll get good profit after few months or a year.
For long-term investments are the underdog coins like low valued coins but listed as the top Altcoin like Ripple, Dogecoin, Oyster and other coins that priced lower than a US dollar today. These coins have the potential to be the next top 10 Altcoins in the future so if you're preparing your future today then these coins will probably offer you good future.

For me high valued coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash LiteCoin and other expensive coins today are for short-term investment like if you want to start to learn trading. Top coins will offer high profits in a minimum of time if you're lucky but in terms of long-term investments, low priced coins will soon priced a hundred bucks after a couple of years or a decade so in the future your investments today will be the best and ultimate decision you ever made.

Most of us want to be rich quick but there's no shortcut to be one even in an illegal way but if you want to be a skilled trader then cryptocurrency is best for you.
For me trading is one of the consideration as short-term because you wanna earn more money in a short period of time.
Long-term is my choice that's why I'm holding my coins as long as I can so that in time for emergencies, I could turn my coins into money no matter how much value they have.

The good thing about long-term investment is choosing wisely and buying bulk coins while it's cheaper and hold it like you almost buried it for your future self or family.
Like what I did in oyster-pearl (PRL) I invested when it was $0.0003 for $200 way back last month and now it started growing fast like a jaw dropping around $0.60 so I think I'm lucky having invested earlier than today.
I know it's for a long-term so now I'm spotting another cheap coins that has a unique project then decide to buy in bulk and hold it for the mean time.

Most of my portfolio is in long term gain, I play with around 20% of portfolio to trade short terms but not day trading. I am holding few coins for few days and than selling them for only profit, I have also bought many coins and holding them despite their price has dumped in last few months. I try to never sell my any coin for loss...
