not even getting 1 to mess with phil?

Nope.

Here is why

5 t1s
2 2/3 s9s
11 l3+
1 a3
8 ltc usb sticks
1 Avalon 841
18 x 1080tis
Free power is 72 amps of 240 derate is done about 18 k watts

Summer power rates start in 28 days 18 cents

So 25 k watts of gear  means 8 kwatt at 20 cents

That is about 38 a day over. Say 1200 a month over cap.

Raven needs to take off to save me.

with the 3 major GPU algos now ASIC-ed..... the last bastion probably X16R/S -- Raven, Pigeon, etc.
yup im all in on lux and raven, i dont think asics are on priil yet

Also had everything on Lux / Raven for a while now.
Fingers crossed.
switched hald machines from lux back to raven, i cam mine 1500 a day now Il sell some
daily and buy lux

Have any of you guys heard what the various developers of Equihash based coins  are planning to do in regard to the Bitmain Equihash Asic that's shipping in ~6-7 weeks? I read a rumor that BTG said they would fork, but I haven't heard anything (yet) from others.

It seems like most of the Zcash community wants to change algo to kill off ASICs just like Monero did, but Zooko and co is sitting on the fence.. they don't say either yes or no to ASICs yet.. well they kinda say yes by not saying NO.. the zcash community is pretty upset, a lot of people will abandon the coin if there's no algo change.

Ongoing discussion on the zcash forum an also on github:

The big attraction to the coin is not that it is anynonmous coin .  The developers have touted this for more then a year.  What that does is make the coin a target for law enforcement.

The big attraction to the coin was asics did not mine it and nvidia whales on it.

Zec could try killing any card under 10 gb.

This would make all  cards die other then the 1080 ti.  I think it would also kill asics. The developer could score if he did this since he would know only 1080 ti would be exclusive .

Hey everyone... regarding the ETH Pill... wondering if anyone could answer these questions:

I have a rig with 6x ASUS Strix Gaming A8G:  4x 1070ti & 2x 1080 (the latter with GDDR5X).

I want to use the pill for the 2 1080's but trying to figure out the process order exactly.

Do you start the miner and THEN run the ETHPILL exe?  or run the pill first and then start miner?

Also, with this screw anything up with the 4x 1070ti's? on the same system?

Finally, is this a 1-time thing or does the pill need to be run every time you restart the miner or reboot?

I think I can answer half or less than your questions.

My understanding is the pill should be executed and then the mining software should be started.
My understanding is it should always be running.  If you restart the OS, you need to start the pill and then start the mining software.

What rs1x said ^^ and you should be ok with other cards. I have a rig with 5x 1080ti and 3x 1060 and it works fine.

You think that the prices of the equihash coins will go up after the coming of the asics?
I don't know if I should keep on mining rvn atm or try and mine a few zen and zec and keep holding them for a big price.

Hopefully something good will happen in the future for us the gpu miners. ATM I do not own any asic, only gpus Smiley

Yeah, i was wondering the same thing about most of the algo's that have ASICs either recently released or coming up. Why not just change the algo like XMR did?  It really seems like there are many more GPU miners than ASIC, so why not do all you can to keep those people as happy as possible as long as possible?  If other big coins did this then it should also have the benefit of slowing down the ASIC manufacturers.

Anyone here mess with mining rig rental website?
Seems interesting but I haven’t touched it yet to see how it works

Also I’m still trying to figure out if ASICS are really worth the money

Anyone here mess with mining rig rental website?

If I haven't shared this before, my entire ASICS farm management is based on MRR.

But..... I don't use it to rent my rigs at all... (ie. set it to OFFLINE/NOT AVAILABLE FOR RENTAL)

My main purpose of using MRR is global proxy nodes (instead of setting up a proxy server at ISP side).

In the MRR central dashboard, I can monitor total hash, pools management, charting etc.

Downside: I lose the monitoring of individual rigs at ISP side. I am testing "anselal/antminer-monitor" for the S9 farm, since I have Teamviewer & VPN access to my ASICs at Cryptoboreas, GND and another ISP in Asia Pacific. As for the Avalons A721/A821/A841, these miners behave themselves quite well. I have to babysit the S9s more often.

The L3+s, D3s and other ASICs (Pinidea, Baikal) are also managed by MRR proxy nodes.

The GPU farms, do not use MRR yet since its hosted in my own private warehouse - 15mins drive from my house, and I can directly manage it easily.

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

Bitcoin is nearly exclusively mined by ASICs and the price has boomed.  It's not really a matter of how it is mined.  This is more a matter of adoption, support, supply/demand, etc etc etc...

You are not alone in only having GPUs and this is something people tend to lose sight of.  People see posts about ASIC and FPGA and assume that everyone is just going to run out and drop $20K on equipment.  Meanwhile, there are hundreds of gamers and tech enthusiasts that use their solo GPU to mine with occasionally and then end up buying a second one after they have mined enough to ROI the first GPU... And then they buy a third... and a fourth...

GPU mining ain't going anywhere!  Smiley

This is very complex economic question.

The short answer is pain to many that did not understand to diversify.
The long answer is really hard to give.

I see gpus this way.

how many

answer  many millions of them.

Killing them off  kills off millions that would mine small scale.

Absolute moron move of greed.

But and here is the big but how to keep them alive?

Raven maybe.

ALGO-of- the-month coin   is my new idea.

this new coin switches every month to a new algo.
the developer launches coin with 36 algos ready to drop for 36 months in a row.

this makes the coin asic proof for sure.
it makes the coin fpga resistant .

the two players that would want to make a coin like this would be  AMD AND NVIDIA

Will we see it I have no idea.  But I am holding on to 18x 1080tis just incase we do.

You guys think that bitmain will stop trying to make asics for other algos(with new monero algo probably) now since they already have them for like 80% of current gpu mining and will probably start taking over the market from gpus?Or it depends more from if its worth the hustle for them Undecided

the best moves for a companies like amd and nvidia would be to make a coin
they could control the market and make tons of money with keeping small miners able to mine at the same time
why they havent done this yet baffles me but hey what do i know vs a finance major

I mined 5200   and 6600

the 5200 coins were hodl

most of the 6600 I sold from 00000450 to 00000620

So all the sales paid for power and the  5200 are my fingers crossed they just sit in a rvn wallet.

I got lucky with some gear sales  sold gear at an okay price when coins were 8000 usd.   coins are now 9700  so  my 4000 in sales = 4850 not bad.

Nice, always good to be on the right side of profits.

I'm still filling my fingers crossed bag. It helped when diff dropped super low the last couple weeks, but I noticed the surge the last few days cutting me back down to size.

It appears there are either a lot of people mining it from auto switching algos, or just jumping ship from others due to asics. Either way I've covered some running costs and will keep going for at least 2 more weeks.

I will admit it is nice to mine something where I get a pile of coins; even if the price isn't much yet.

Out of curiosity, for the veterans here, how much of the difficulty increase has already been absorbed by Z9's at play? Looking at ZEC from nov-now, for instant, one can see a big rise from roughly 5 Feb to 5 March:

Prices were tanking during this time, 2x GPU markups were at play, so it seems unlikely a concentrated wave of new GPUs hit the network around now.

If difficulty increase has already been at play, how much more would we expect from new batches?

Similar scenario with eth, it's hovered in 3-3.2 for some time. Yes that is a different animal with Casper etc. but I'm referring specifically to difficulty increases being "baked in" by the pre-launch mining long before these asics are announced--in which case, we are vastly overestimating future asic-related difficulty spikes b/c they have already occurred.

Yeah  this is very possible.   I think if a lot of coins fork off   like monero did.       equihash-new-algo    and equihash-old-algo  could happen.

So 1080ti's  could become  very good money makers soon.
