you can invest which how much you want even with $1 though. but remember more amount, also more profit for you. in this case i see you want to invest your $500 to buy a coin and hold it for a long term. i suggest you buy ethereum, that is a really good coin for investment i think. or perhaps try to find one of a good coin which has potential in the future and buy it when the price still cheap. |

I would suggest going with bitcoin or Ethereum, better is to choose the first one but that is a little expensive. Ethereum can be a good option but it does not makes very fast progress. With this much money to invest, I would suggest choosing any highly volatile coin and start trading with small amounts.

Investing in crypto you can lose all but investing in yourself, you will never lose. You will get knowledges anyway

$500 is not too small to invest in cryptocurrency. You can invest in stable coin and the join bouty campaign or airdrops to get free token by completing a given task or simply invest in ICO projects that are stable. Go through the list of available ICOs , select the one of your choice, know everything it entails before investing. You should also participate actively in bitcointalk forum to gain high ranks.

At a point you could buy more than 1 ethereum this year, some ICOs still accept 0.2 ethereum for public sale. So one can invest in more than 5 ICO now if you had bought ethereum when it slump $300+ .

Though it does not sound like a good idea to invest in BTC now while it has grown to 10k dollars but even 0.05 of this digital coin can bring more profits than an Ethereum. It is good investment for low-valuable cryptocurrency taking into account that they aren't really changeable, of course, if you invest more capital better, and invest eyes which aren't money which will be necessary for you in tokens cost less than a dollar. |

In my opinion, it is better to make your own research and trust your guts. The most of the privacy coins are undervalued right now. The best opportunity is to find a privacy-related project with a low total supply (less than 100M), that way the price will be increasing much faster. I would say first and foremost, if you are not ready to flush this money away, then you're better off buying treasuries, but if want extrememe risk with extreme return potential, then crypto is where you want to be. If you're just starting out, then stick to proven tech. Choose coins that deliver a product (as opposed to ICO's that promise future delivery for payment today.)
A few exampes of non-ICOs (proven tech) are Bitcoin, Ethereum, SIA, and IOTA.
Examples of ICO's (extreme-risk2 ) are Tron, XYO, and Wanchain.

That amount is good enough to buy different coins that has potential, diversify your investment in btc and altcoins. Choose the one that has uses and progressing development such as Btc, Eth and iota. I have many coins in my portfolio and I did some research before investing my money. Its advisable to make your own research and judgement, dont just rely in our suggestions.  |
