With current situation in the market - it became more profitable to buy on the exchange after the ICO - it's extremely sad, to be honest... I know a lot of good projects which lost like 50% of price after the ICO.

How often does the price get lower than the ICO price when a new coin is listed on its first exchange house ?

How come there are coins that are worth like 0.0004 $, usually during an ICO one coin is sold in the range of 1$ or not ?

Do some "coins" skip the ICO stage ?

If you are really early on the exchanges, it might be worth it to buy there

I saw the prospect of MTC coin success. In less than a month, there were 3,000 participants. Fast forward, otherwise you will end up, and you will regret it.

In my opinion, it is better to make your own research and trust your guts.

The most of the privacy coins are undervalued right now.

The best opportunity is to find a privacy-related project with a low total supply (less than 100M), that way the price will be increasing much faster.

I recently found one project called Ethereum Meta, it is related to anonymity and untraceable transaction. They have a very interesting project to build the Anonymous E-Market Place.

They are on ICO stage right now and already on the exchanges, you can check their website: https://ethermeta.com/
Or even better go through their Bitcointalk thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2659058.0

If you want to remain completely anonymous, I advise you to buy tokens on the exchange, as soon as it is added there. If the anonymity is not so important to you, you can buy tokens during the ICO

Buying during the ICO was profitable prior to February 2018 but with the recent volatility of the market i'd say get into bounties and buy in exchange when the price deeps.
Recently I paid $0.08 for J8T token during crowd sale but when it hit the exchange it was $0.03 and has further dropped.

These ICOs are taking us all for a ride, squeezing out every pint of blood they can from us.

Presently I'd say Exchange; the only thing I'd do during ICO is to participate in the bounty.

An ico mostly experienced a similar thing, it's because it's not a good reputation and management is indeed the origin. Yes, every dev would always want to lure investors with all their seduction. Reverse, when it's all just a lie. Just as the price of a coin then the dev party will put an attractive price when ico pre-sale, then when entering the exchange then the price continues to decline. This is normal and almost happens to an ico project that has no prospect.
Yes, that is true. This is the strategy of Dev and his team for many investors who are interested in the project. But I think not all ICO projects like that, many ICO projects that have interesting concepts and good prospects and deserve more support.

So from now on, we should be careful to choose the ico which has similar idea with no prospect or what.
Because our smart thinking now is very important to choose between them so we dont fail again and again.

i think it depends on how much money you have, because you can buy a lot of tokens at lower price when the ICO is being held, it is much profitable than buying with multiplied many times on exchanges, but think carefully before buying token in ICO, because we are the one who first take serious lost if the ICO are scam or fail in the future. in contrast, buying on exchanges can be safer but much higher price and dont have much profit unless waiting for a long time in the future.

Icos offer good opportunity for those who has big amounts and wanna to take serious discounts by project owners. Big guys throw away few ethereum if they see small chance for projects. Sometimes i also dont care about price and just wanna to join community with investing to ico. If i really like the project i buy later for cheaper price in exchanges.

Yes, there are coins that did not pass through an ICO. Instead of the usual Initial Coin Offering, some projects are using airdrop to make a community of coin holders and to spread the word of their new project. They are accepting donations in return. Still others do not use either ICO or airdrop. They are like Bitcoin, they simply launch their project and their coin and let them acquire growth and popularity while the team is actively pursuing the development of their project.

There are coins that really dipped in value as soon as they are listed on the exchanges. But as long as the developers are trying their best for the project to succeed, the value of their coin will bounce back.

Normally the price will be better after exchange. Some good projects will cost more. Currently there are too many ICOs and most sellers to make profit. Buying after the exchange will ensure that your money does not lose too much.

I think, there is not any easy way to make a wise choice for that. Any influence of the crypto market such as ETH or btc also affects the choice to buy tokens in the form of ico or later. Usually I try to capture to buy private token or pre-sale token. That would be beneficial and highly effective.

If somebody is good in identifying the future of coin then better to buy at the ICO stage as you will get bonus as well. And once it gets listed due to better utility of the coin in future demand will increase and so will price. So you will have an added advantage and a better return can be expected from it..

Usually the price of token dump because of the desperate sellers. Based on my observation when the tokens are already distributed and listed on exchanges, most of the participants are selling their token on lower price so that they can sell it immediately.

At the moment we are in a downward trend, so it is not the best time to join ICOs. Just look at the Ethereum price. Although I would reccommed to join good rated ICOs in the early stages, where there are high bonus payments

Their are own pluses and minuses! When you on ICO you can make it with great discount till 50%, but the chance of exit to the stock exchange is not 100%. And if it would exit to the stock exchange the price as a rule go down. So i suggest you to buy later on exchange it's rather suffer for you
