you can hack everything ... but more often people are to blame for hacking, it does not matter whether it's a purse or a card. you need to be careful and take all the precautions.

Myetherwallet is the safest place for your fund, even you will open after one year. You and no one transfer funds without using your personal key. Your account is always safe unless you have post your own private key on any site or it will be hacked by anyone. Don't open your ether wallet daily and if u want to see the balance of your account then always open your wallet in the incognito window and check your account by entering your ether address on these sites. These names are etherscan.io or ethplorer.io or deltabalances.github.io. I think this is the safest way to handle your account and no one trace you activities by working on incognito window.

Well, if you lose you private key, I can say that your wallet is hacked. Try not to let anyone know your private key, your json file as well as your password. And remember to remove virus because some virus can steal users's information, priceless information

I think no, it will not, as long as you don't share your private keys. I hope you're funds will be safe then. But if you lost your personal keys, it would be bad for you, because as what I'm reading before you're account cannot be retrieved in MEW once you lost your private keys, so you must take good care of it.

Hi, i have backupped my pvkeys on an usb stick. I wrote it also down on a piece of paper. My computer broke. I put a metal pin through the harddrives. I will not buy a new pc soon. So i wont check in on myetherwallet for some time. I cant click on phishing links. My question is : are my funds safe? Can myetherwallet get hacked? Can my funds dissapear even when i have no computer, hid my keys? Im to stupid to work with a ledger or trezor. Can something happen to it like with the parity/kill?
myetherwallet is a decentralized exchange which is just acting as catalyst so we can easily use the blockchain technology using it.No one handles or managing myetherwallet which is a good thing because you will need to crack blockchain's technology before you get into the mew wallets, but thats not possible because you will need quantum computers to crack down blockchain's security.

Myetherwallet is a very well know wallet out there. As long as you have your private keys with you and you haven't shared it with anyone you funds will be totally safe. All you need to do is act smart and don't fall for anything stupid.

If people are not careful and don't protect their private key or purse or card, they always blame hackers. And how many people are keeping their card pin number in the same wallet where they keep the card?!?

I hear many people theorizing about how MEW "could" be hacked, but I seriously want to know:
Has anyone here ACTUALLY HAD THEIR MEW HACKED?
If so, do you know how it happened?

I think that people that was "hacked" actually entered in a phishing site, or had their private key stolen, or had THEIR computer hacked. An then, they blamed myetherwallet. In you take normal precaution, MEW is perfectly safe. I hear many people theorizing about how MEW "could" be hacked, but I seriously want to know:
Has anyone here ACTUALLY HAD THEIR MEW HACKED?
If so, do you know how it happened?

yes, a lot of myether wallets has been hacked especially late last year there were enough complains about hacked account. that is the hand work of thhe lazy bones that needs money and wouldnt want to work for it. it is always a painfull experience that no one will like to fall victim of it especially when you have accumulated much coin.

In your case I think your funds are quite safe unless you have been exposed or hacked before your computer broke but nevertheless no one could hack your private key and brute force your account security details to access your wallet. Just make sure your keys are safe with you and not accessible to other people then I think your safe.

If you keep safe your private key, there is no way you account could be hacked. Btw, I heard rumors that myetherwallet was bought by mycrypto.com or something so, I didn't understand too well. Any idea?

Yesterday, the crypto community noticed announcements about MyEtherWallet supposedly changing their name to "MyCrypto" based on posts on Twitter. There have been no other announcements through other official MyEtherWallet channels, and the MyEtherWallet Twitter has now made a post suggesting that their Twitter handle was compromised and changed without their knowledge. It is unclear at this time whether MyCrypto is an official project of the MEW team or not. It is also unclear at this time if MyEtherWallet, or other social channels have been compromised.

if you share your private key and take pat in airdrops sharing private keys there is a chance of hack.. never save private key in vulnerable areas
For me it's a yes eventhough myetherwallet is very secured and very trusted it can still be hacked by the hackers if we will not keep our private key or it surely hacked if we will send our private key to other people but as long as we keep our private key secret there is no chance that our myetherwallet is we will be hacked.

Few weeks ago there is a notice that MyEtherWallet was hacked so everyone was advised not to log in. I think eversince we've used computers in our daily lives, we are vulnerable to hacking so does those crypto wallets even if there's a lot of softwares promising us protection and such. Let's just keep our faith that our investments will be safe until the end of our lives

There is a lot of talking about myetherwallet or other site being hacked, but nobody brings proofs or a clear description of what really happened. Of course, theoretically anything online can be hacked, but for what I can understand, myetherwallet is about 99.999999% safe. The true is that most people don't take minimal security measures, they enter in phishing site, expose their private key or have THEIR computer hacked, and then blame MEW.
