Dont listen to people pitching one coin or ICO, they usual invested and just pumping.

2k I would go for 1200-1500 on 4-5 coins you like from research/recommend/like the logo. then 500 back for a couple of popular ICO.  keep back 200 or so for an "opportunity", to day trade whatever.  And avoid anything that has just massively ramped up, it might be good in the future but you're probably going to buy a high, if you like the project wait and see.  Dont buy Bitcoin unless you want to hold it,  or you'll lose $50 your first day moving to exchanges, buy ETH initially to transfer to other exchanges, and works for more ICO.

Divide your portfolio into 3-5 best coins which you really believe in. Keep 40% in BTC and the rest in altcoins of your choice. I would start with 3-5 coins. Include bitcoin and ethereum and then pick 1-3 coins that you are interested in and believe in. It always helps to have coins that you actually have an interest in because it will be much easier for you to keep up with their activity etc.

Check coinmarketcap for top coins. I would suggest AMM, ADA, TRON, LSK, RDD, DOGE, RIPPLE, LTC, and of course, you should also get yourself some BTC before you start trading.

Make sure to have some btc and eth then I think it's wise to choose 3 more alts from the top20 coins which you feel confident investing in. Currently, there are lots of alts that are increasing in value (xrp, neo, doge, xem, and many more) all you need is to study their graphs and their purposes. If I was you, I would diversify the investment as
25% in Ripple (XRP has gone down by 30% from its all time high, so it's better to buy now)
25% in Cardano (the future for Cardano looks promising)
20% in Stellar (many multinationals seems to be interested in this coin)
20% in TRON (TRX is widely expected to grow 5-6X times in 2018)
10% in ReddCoin (this is a kind of a gamble, if all the market reseacrh is to be believed, this coin will give you 10x returns)

Keep in mind that you should be holding these investments at least until 2019/2020. Panic selling will end up loss only.

Well, to become a rich you need to find a true gem like ZClassic.  I bought it around 4 USD and sold at 233. My only regret I did it with only 23 coins  Even with this small amount, I walked out with whopping 5000 USD! But now I struggle to find this kind of coin. I think it might be a good investment that dividing it into two parts and buying equal amount of bitcoin and ethereum. And also, in my opinion, it might be more logic that, %75 btc and %25 eth. Good luck!

If its me i will choose btc, eth and ripple. Btc will always be my first choice because its the first crypto and well establish. However better to do your own research and see whats best that is likely to give you sure profit.

definitely diversify, the more the better. take two or three big coins (BTC, ETH and LTC for instance) and a few smaller (XRP, ADA, XLM, XVG, NEO, TRX) and put half in the big coins and the other half in the small coins.

Hello.as you said 2k ,it means $2k.Firat of all i ask you that which types of investment you want(long term/short term).If you think about the long term investment then btc is the best for you and you can also invest into ETH beacause nowdays it's price increasing too much high.And if you think about the short term investment then i suggest you to inveat into the new launched altcoins beacause new launched coin price is very less and in future it will give huge profits But before invest in any new coin do proper research of that coin.

Bitcoin is constant and has big potential as asset, but I think it will not bring significant income in case of investment for just holding. If one thinks to buy and hold coins then alt coins have much more perspective for price grow up.

I would advice you to buy coins that has dividend sharing , it will 've nice . You will always get a dividend for your investment.

Honestly with a bankroll that small, you should all in into 2 or 3 coins that's low mcap with upcoming catalysts to quickly multiply your bankroll. Because your positions will be relatively small, it'll multiply quick early on.

Don't look into passive income yet. Take some risk and dont latch yourself on slow movers.

Look at kucoin, cryptopia, etherdelta coins (pm if u want a kucoin ref link) to find these newly listed low mcap coins.
